  • Brilliant performance by Divya unni.

Mohini attam is the dance of the 'mohini' or enchantress ..hence the attire with the wide hips, honestly didn't know it represents the rivers of Kerala!!(??) Culturally a mohini ( beautiful woman) should possess an hour glass figure regardless of her being thin or fat and a beautiful face with expressive eyes. Dance is a visual treat , so I personally wouldn't like to see a very obese or size zero person performing....

  • Proof dancers 16-97 shouldn't try to be the size/weight of a 9 year old, it does NOT make one good (and is very sad). She's one of the best dancers I've ever seen and normal, healthy weight/size - a bit thin yet healthily. I know many dancers who eat almost nothing (portions for a 2 year old), use drugs/medicine and/or work their bodies too hard to be too tiny/thin, have complexes and severe damage/illness from media, family, authority, peers, people they admire, boys, society, from cruelty

  • I am studying (and slowly making progress in) each of the eight forms of Indian classical dance. This is a very beautiful performance! To the dancer, my compliments! You perform Mohiniyaattam very well! You are full of grace and very talented. Continue the good work, keep practicing and dancing! You are very beautiful. Of course what matters here is the dance, how accurate and beautiful you make it, and you've done perfectly (and of course could/would regardless of your great beauty). Fantastic!

  • She's beautiful!

  • ok i dont know why everyone is making such a big deal about the size of the dancer. i personally am a chunky girl that takes mohiniyattam, but i dont think that gives me an advantage in getting the movements. either u have the grace, or you dont.

  • she is so beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I don't know why everybody has such a problem with a weight of the dancer ?? are u all watching the dance or something else ?

Mohiniyattom is the dance of the enchantress and the movements are like the waves of an ocean.Bharathanatyam on the other hand is a geometric dance, any mudra and posture, infact anything in bharatanatyam is geometric, that's the way natya shastra works, no point fighting over wether it's rigid or not, and be it any dance .. it can't b called dance without grace !!!

  • beatiful performance!

  • your beautiul and so is the dance

  • nice job

  • At last, a Mohiniyaattam dancer who is not over weight!

  • omg thats what i was just thinking why are they all fat?

  • from what I have seen the best Mohiniyattam dancers are mature woman. young gilrs usually lack the emotional depth to do justice to the beauty of mohiniyattam. young and slim girls that dance mohiniyattam are usually so very stiff that they really should not bother and stick to something more rigid such as bharatanatyam

  • okay first off this lady is not fat. and stop making up stupid stereotypes about how slim dancers are not graceful. slim dancers are actually for the most part more flexible which can aid in grace, and of course there are exceptions. Also, I'm tired of people who've never done Bharatanatyam saying that its rigid. it is not rigid anymore. today, you do need grace for it otherwise it ends up looking mechanical. but you also need that neatness in the dance, which people mistake often for rigidness.

  • first I have done bharatnatyam for your info. as your calling my statement stupid, this is my answer you you. people usually start calling stupid when they have nothing better to say

  • why dont you shut up?! Mohiniyaattam is a very flowing dance with soft movements which almost anyone can do. if you have something to say to me please dont make it violent because i could get cyber on your behind if u know what i mean

  • first of all i was trying to be reasonable. now women who have meat on their bones might be what the gurus look for because broad hips represent flowing rivers in kerala the birth place of this dance. and you do notice that they use something to make their hips seem wider right? i am not saying slim girls are not good at this dance but that full bodied girls do it just as well. sometimes better

  • what movie is tht song from?
