This scene represents the Victory at Mount Baddon which was won by Arthur leading the Ancient Britons as Dux Bellorum against the invading Anglo-Saxons in around the year 500AD. The battle was in fact a combined siege and relief action. The Angles and Saxons had besieged and beleagured Solsbury Hill and Bathampton Down at Old Bathon (Baddon/Aquae Sulis). Arthur as chief war leader led the decisive uphill charge of mounted Brythons against the enemy of whom 967 were slain. Victory to the Britons
Favorite quote(Merlin): Behold!!... the Sword of Power!!... the Excaliber!! Forged when the World was young, and bird and beast and flower were One with Man... and Death was but a dream!! One of many favorite throughout this memorable classic story.
i cant believe one self proclaimed boy king and a wizzard managed to unite the warlords and battlelords of the broken country of britania, and defeat the invading saxons, and the vikings, and the french, and the irish, and the scottish, and other invading kingdoms.
I don't remember the French as British invaders, while they did support countender to the crown,no French king looked at England and said;I want that land!but you did leave out the Danes...
I thought they were the Dark Ages metaphorically. Looking at this picture, I am starting to belief the sun tried it's darndest to bypass the British Isles during those centure
Mate what do you mean Bypassed us during that centruy..come over here in our summer..the sun still bypasses us. The main reason i dont mind tours in Afghanistan or Iraq (im in the Royal Marines Commando's) is so i do actually get a little beam time haha.
I've got to state that this is without a doubt one of my all-time favorite movies, great musical score, great writing. I loved how Merlin would just show up out of nowhere during a vital moment in Arthur's life to give him some advice, a classic film.
At 02:23-24, When Arthur says, "...and I shall marry" and puts his hand on a knight's shoulder I thought he was going to say: "...and I shall marry Patrick Stewart here." Lol.
Nicol Williamson...I just loved him as Merlin, I loved his Shakespere performances, and I'll miss him.

Arthur's grasp of architecture is a bit wobbly: "I shall build a round table, and a hall about the table, and a castle about the hall!"

Yes; it is obvious theft from Shakespeare. Arthur probably thought he was in Agincourt.
