The points Tommy gained were from mostly Undamaging take downs and one in point Jason backpedaled out of bounds which was another point for Tommy. In real life perhaps it would be no contest, but we'll never know because Austin hasn't responded to Jason's request to fight. As far as your arguement about which one is better. The fact remains it's all up to interpretation. I have been a fan of Jason(Austin) since the very beginning so I would've said he was better than Tommy way back when it actually mattered. But I grew up and I realized that it didn't really matter which one of them was better. They both fought on the same side in the end.

Your quotes are one sided. Zordon told Jason the same thing at one point. Right after the Red Wild Force Ranger said what he said, the other Red Rangers chastized him and TJ, whom earlier in that episode did state Tommy was a legend, even said that he wouldn't go so far as to call him the greatest ranger. And Tommy was indeed a legend because he was an active Ranger for the longest. But being the original Red Ranger and Leader makes Jason a legend in his own right.

Jason was hands down the best leader cause he never lost a battle and never ran away and never got a megazord destroyed. Even with the good storylines, Andros came off like a wimp. Jason had the look of a leader, he was bigger then all of them and way more confident.

Keep in mind during this era, the story (ALL fight scenes) were from the sentai footage. They only had to use a feeble storyline to relate to the footage. They didn't have good storylines back then anyway. Power Rangers in Space was probably the best season story wise as it was the Zordon/Power Ranger Story Arc conclusion so they went out with a bang(LOL..literally). Even the villans were complex.

The only reason Tommy got the spotlight he did was cause Jason left. If you watch the 2 or 3 episodes that the original cast did with Tommy as the white ranger, his role is like it was as green ranger. He didnt become perfect and the center of the show until rocky adam and aisha came.
