I use Fast Picture Viewer pro with my D700 and my DELL notebook. Saves to card in camera and in folder on computer. Works with NEF and JPG. Been happy with it.
I've Got the programs lightroom 2 and the studio tether. anyway you could email me or post a video explaining how to set it up? i've read their website manual but for some reason everytime i get my camera hooked up it says unable to download the image....
I use Nikon's Camera Control Pro. Set the image quality to NEF and Basic JPG. The JPG image comes up immediately, the NEF image follows at a slower speed. Also, if you attach a video display, it, too, comes up immediately. Display speed has never been a problem for me.
Aperture 2 allows tethered shooting which writes to both the camera's card and to the computer's HD...
BUT
it's ludicrously slow. Shooting raw tethered in Aperture 2, it takes on average around 40 seconds for a shot to show up on the screen, and the problems caused by waiting for the shot to show up essentially outweigh the usual benefits of tethering.
I don't know if this delay is the result of how Aperture was designed, or if it is a general challenge for any tethering application.
it maybe doesn't work with pc

Dude, get with the times! Lightroom 3 has built in tethered functions.
Geez, delete this old crap already.
