@devangez, RasoolAllah (SAW) may have called on Hazrat Ali (R) to join in the battle of Khaybar, but the major difference is that asking for help from someone who is alive in the dunya is permissable, whereas asking for help from someone who is in the Barzakh is not permissable.

However, Tassawuf is permitted by the the majority of scholars, ask long as one realizes that it is not the Prophet, Sahaba or saint to whom the dua is addressed and only Allah (SWT) can answer the dua.
