  • AND THE TRUTH SHALL SET US FREE

  • @LoveVanillaRose Yes indeed :-)

  • 100% agree

  • The yellow blossoms are also very beautiful. And that's real nature ... so killing nature to get back to nature is making no real sense.

  • @BattlefieldDoktor I couldn't agree more, BFD! Thanks for watching.

  • fuck me on the grass next to pavement(sidewalk) shit thats shocking, They dont do that in UK, pesticides luckily means spending money, They just about cut the grass in UK lol

  • yes I see it nice video very crisp

  • Pictures speak a thousand words, powerful message Marc and beautifully told. I for one have never used pesticides, our lawn is a mess BUT it's a small sacrifice.

  • @DelisaProductions If I had my way, I wouldn't even have a "lawn", I'd have a meadow. Unfortunately, my neighbors aren't the meadow type :-(

  • We are on the same wave here, Marc. I wish more could be done to stop all the unnecessary chemicals, not only on the earth but in our food!

  • love this video....you rebel

  • @StephStance Thank you Steph :-)

  • Beautiful video! I just let the dandelions and wild plants grow in my yard too.The birds and little animals love it!

  • Agreed! Beautiful video. Excellent message.

  • This is a very complex subject. I absolutely agree that pesticides are grossly abused (primarily by overzealous and stupid consumers), yet at the same time, under proper control, they give us a degree of control that we must have, to provide food for this overweight, decadent society of ours, and to create a needed balance with nature, and they can do it *without* harm to our ecology.

I ran a golf course until I swore off working a couple of years ago, and as superintendent, -cont'd-

  • it was on my back to maintain 120 acres of manicured turf for idiots to abuse chasing a ball around. I still have my commercial pesticide applicator's license. It was a bitch getting it, and you have to stay on top to keep it current. The requirements are monstrous, and your usage is actually monitored by local, state, and federal agencies.

I had a pair of Bald Eagles who nested on the property, I had resident Mallards, Coots, Egrets, Cormorants, Canadian Geese and -still more-

  • Sandhill Cranes as regular winter residents, and I had lakes with thriving fish, frog, and critter populations to balance the food chain.

I worked VERY closely with Audubon International to learn how to do it, and I got pretty good at it. And I used pesticides. In Florida, you can't NOT, or you won't have turf.

  • PS - Just to balance the picture, I'm by nature a diehard organic gardener. No chemicals have touched my own lawn or garden in at least 20 years. My lawn looks it, too. LOL

  • @anmoose Moosie, thanks for the perspective. I have a house in Vero Beach, so I understand the need for pesticides, at times. My complaint is the overuse of them. Anyone can buy sprayers to spray their own bushes or yards. I also understand that the pros have to be licensed and I don't doubt that the requirements are tough. However, that doesn't mean that those requirements are followed by everyone. For example, sprays should not be used on windy days. Nevertheless, I have seen it being done.

  • @Perroquet51 (Part 2 for Moosie) My concern is not just to birds, but to the soil, itself, and everything in it. Since Im not sure that any of the birds you listed are insect eaters, they might be so effected as the smaller ones. Pesticide use is a very difficult one to control and I dont know how communities can do it without banning them, altogether. Either bugs get out of control or pesticide applications do. Neither alternative is acceptable.

  • Great PSA, Marc. You have many lovely sights and sounds around you (well, until they turned kinda spooky). ;)

  • @silverscreamgrl LOL, I can never leave well-enough alone, can I?

  • @billyCtv You're not late. Never matters to me when people comment, I am just happy when they do :-)

  • Awesome Video!...You know I have this little thing that is called a weed popper and It just took me and my son about an hour to do our front lawn and there were a lot of dandelions and other kinds of weeds that I did not want there. I hate what people are doing to our world and It will just keep on getting worse...I hate to say it!

  • @DawndeeDALLAS Yes, if one takes the time to do it, there are lots of ways to control weeds other than spraying poisons all over the place. Thanks for watching, Dawn.

  • @billyCtv I posted this above but,

  • @himself801 Thank you! A lot of good stuff there.

  • Aw Jeez...I am so glad you showed what virulent cancer the dandelion has become...if that is what you intended...?It blocks out all other growth...lovely wild more delicate things... cos its rogue behaviour , like the buttercup etc , can with- stand our killer ways... I am in battle with all this in my 'wild-life' orientated patch.

  • @xyzllii Nope, I love dandelions and dig them up when I must.

  • Hello, Marc...eerie vid!...but you are quite right, of course...I wonder how much of that crap we're walking about wiv in us!...lol

  • @maadmaestro I do "eerie" best. Maybe because I AM eerie :-)

  • @Perroquet51 No you're not...you're my friend!...(but the vid is STILL eerie!)

  • So true.

  • @AnnyaMoon Thanks for watching, Annya :-)

  • Great video Marc! I loved it and agree! Too many chemicals are used everyday!!

  • @mysteryglo Thanks, Judy. Our neighborhood sprays the lawns a few times a year and individuals are out spraying trees and bushes every day. I feel like I'm living at Dow Chemical.

  • love the opening pine cones and dandelions.o and are those cheery blossom so pretty.and then there a creep feel .I think it people aversion to tree sex

  • @kateam1975 That opening bit is in my own backyard.

  • Pesticides are pure evil. I've never used them on either the lawn or garden and never will.

  • @Blinkazoid I agree, Blinky, they are evil, and no other word sums it up better.

  • The Chemlawn people would have a field day in that field!

  • @1DRock37167 Yeap, there wouldn't be a field if those people had their way.

  • The wild fields are so pretty! If I did not use pestsides outside I would have bugs

in my house, I could not stand that either, but I understand what you are saying.

  • @justwant2bhappy There are times when we have no choice, but there is also spot spraying. My objection is spraying an entire lawn because you are killing far more than weeds.

  • There's no "LOVE" button, so I had to push "LIKE"...Love button. That's sounds almost naughty dud'nt it, Marc? (lol!)

    Love ya!

    ~Tammi~

  • @RockyWhyNot Kind of naughty but really cute. I may have to steal that sometime :-)

  • @Perroquet51 I'd be HONORED : ))

  • What a lovely field of dandelions. Thanks for that perspective!

  • @woosteria Thank YOU for watching :-)

  • If a weed free lawn is that important, all you need to do is plant the right grass or lay down the right sod, and the blades of grass grow closely enough together that the weeds don't get enough light to start growing...

  • @phekwig Good point. I'm sure all "lawn care" companies offer grass seed to make sure you have the most beautiful and least resistant grass possible. I wouldn't be surprised if chemical companies helped design it. But hey, maybe I'm being overly suspicious of the bastards.

  • @ladybard1968 Even inside, much safer measures than sprays can usually be used.

  • Beautiful video........I have a nice crop of dandelions in my unsprayed lawn right now..........................I think they are beautiful!!

  • @orgel12 They ARE beautiful! I'm eager to see your lawn and garden.

  • LOVE THIS!!! This is our new feature. (Too bad we can't have two features at a time.)

  • @SunnyDazStormyNitz Aww, thanks. I appreciate that :-)

  • Sometimes I feel like a dandelion that people are trying to kill off.

  • @freitasex Don't go without a struggle, Michael! I'll help ya :-)

  • On one of my videos from way back, I showed my tortoise that I had for my 5th birthday. He's still alive and happily munches the dandelions in my parents' lawn. They set themselves there from all the dandelions I used to bring home for the tortoise when I was little.

But he's bigger and greedier now. He gets his diet supplemented with lettuces, cucumber and tomatoes, thanks to my old dad being a keen gardener :-)

  • @RobNorthampton Given my firm belief in the nutritious value of dandelions, this is really the kind of story I like to hear. Of course, I have no problem with trying to eradicate them, if need be. I just don't like the awful poisons that are being sprayed everywhere.

  • Great video...important message!

  • @sprichbeeke Thank you, beeke :-)

  • i have a lovely, natural, huge lawn but i would turn the whole thing into a wonderful rock garden if i had the time and money - the hornyness for perfectly groomed yards to outdo the neighbors with is the root of the evil that is the lawn care product industry. good on ya, marc!

  • @snarkdetriomphe I've seen your beautiful yard, dandelions and all. It would be way too large for me to deal with. I totally agree with your assessment of lawn care companies! I like your very descriptive noun, too LOL

  • We are still all brown for the most part here - some green grass, but not much...

  • @AxeMoose Snow on the way, for you :-) Hopefully, we are well past that stage now.

  • agree ^_^

  • @mrsbowlingballout Thanks for watching, sweetie :-)

  • Mr. Perroquet, when I happened across one of your videos a few months ago, and then impulsively subscribed, I thought you were "just another pretty face", albeit one with a very charming gift of gab.

I see here I was severely mistaken about that. ;-)

  • @nameofthepen Yes, I'm also a complainer lol

  • @Perroquet51 - No, no...I think I mis-spoke. Sorry. What I *meant* to imply is that you surprised me with this. I consider it a very substantial and valuable upload, and yet still graceful in the delivery of its message. I like! I even Favorited it. :-)

  • @nameofthepen ROFL! I knew what you meant. I just have trouble accepting such nice compliments :-)

  • @Perroquet51 - Aaaaargh! You TOYED with me! And I walked right into it!

I will not be so easy next time. ;-)

  • @nameofthepen Oops, I've gone and done now, haven't I?

  • @papercuts777 I guess many of us have a pet pollutant that angers us. Rampant use of pesticides is mine.

  • @BryanAndBaileysZen It's bad enough that we have to deal with pesticides on our food, at least we can usually wash that. Our lawns are a different story!

  • I was thinking that all of those dandelions would be a honey bees paradise!

  • @479Lucy Indeed! There is a web site called "Save the Dandelions, Save the Bees!"

  • Yes, back to nature but without all this pesticides.....

Where i live, as we have a lot of water courses , many years ago was full of frogs, that is the diet of herons and other water birds.

In these years you can't see any frog more.

The fishes that people fished, once ate them because they were not poisoned ... but no more.

  • @lazmalt I agree. Towns used to be filled with song birds but they have all moved on. Furthermore, the only time I ever see dead birds is shortly after these "back to nature" companies spray their poisons around. It burns me up that they advertise that they are safe and that few people with any clout ever take them to task for it.

  • A child's paradise! No chemicals!!! I couldn't believe that manicured lawn was at a HOSPITAL!

  • @genmama1955 Hospitals are notorious for dumping toxins in rivers so I guess we need not be surprised when they poison the earth around them, either.

  • Great video Marc! Shame on those companies and the people who use them!

As a kid who hasn't held a dandelion under their chin to find out if they like butter? LOL Ok, maybe it was just me. :p

My dad never used chemicals on his yard or garden. He grew the most delicious vegetables. He was very organic when it came to his garden before it was popular to be organic. :) I remember him putting beneficial insects in his garden all the time.

  • @SueVlogs I had forgotten all about the butter thing. LOL

Good for your father. I honestly think that much of the reason we are having so many outbreaks of pests killing trees is because we've killed off or driven off their natural predators, not so much with development but with chemicals.

  • @Perroquet51 So it wasn't just me sticking dandelions under my chin as a kid! I knew it! ;)

I put your video on my page. I hope that's ok.

  • @SueVlogs Absolutely! Thank you :-)

  • Yikes! I've never seen a pesticide sign like that posted before. Scary stuff!

  • @hallbe Here it is law that the signs be posted. Unfortunately, they only have to be posted for 24 hours, whereas the harmful effects of the poisons last much longer, I believe.

  • Well done Marc! What kid doesn't love dandelions? They are pretty, they are fun and they hurt no one, but we're so well taught that we abhor them. Excellent video!

  • @thizizliz I used to pick a bouquet of dandelions for Mom and she'd always put them in a vase, even though she knew they'd be dead within minutes :-(

  • I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting station, through which God speaks to us every hour, if we will only tune in. ~George Washington Carver

Now, if only man would change the channel;-(

    Powerful vid!!

    xo

  • @blueclouds4me Good one!

  • Well i love dandelions because they turn into wishes when you blow the dandelion 'clocks'... (is that what you call them?)

  • @twish1999 I've never heard them called clocks before but it's a good name. Yes, I used to believe that if I tore one up and tossed it to the wind while making a wish, my wish would come true. But only if the fuzz flew away.

  • @Perroquet51

The reason we call them clocks is because you should pick one, blow it and say 1 o'clock, blow it again and say 2 o'clock etc etc until all the seeds have blown off them stem...then the last time you get to will be the time your wish comes true

    :-)

  • Yeah - piss on their pesticides - well maybe not it might cause an unfortunate chemical reaction!

I prefer the "with dandelions" look myself

  • @MrRandomWritings I believe that you can make a bomb by mixing piss with pesticides.

  • @Perroquet51 Mass suicide - it's a government conspiracy!

  • I never saw so many dandelions! That stuff would make some wicked wine!!

  • @Zipster08 Absolutely!

  • @Zipster08 MMM Dandelion wine with dandelion greens! Now that's some good eating. Dandelion flowers in a mason jar on the table, too. (Well, not to eat) xoxo

  • Dirt, rocks, and cactus here! LOL Oh...wait, I'm full of dandelions at the moment...I'm the mad dandelion puller...ha! You know how I feel about this subject, so no need for me to write it all out in a comment that may or may not even stick around...:-) Love ya! xoxoxoxo

  • @GreatGig1 I think I'll start making dandelion recipe videos so when you pull them, you can eat them :-)

  • A Party Political Broadcast for the 'Obama' Party?

    Good video

  • @PrincePageant Speaking of Obama, he just left our town a few minutes ago. The sky was full of military helicopters going in every which direction as a security measure.

  • @Perroquet51

A bit like George Orwell, the war with Oceana continues.

I think they will have thought Police one day, wont be long, it would probably be cheaper.

  • @PrincePageant

I guess the guy he saw the interviewer or others went home by taxi and will be back tomorrow? no comment....!

  • The field of dandelions is beautiful. I remember those from growing up in Maryland. This year we let an area of weeds grow really tall because they had little tiny yellow flowers on them, but after a while we were losing our dogs so I took the weed whacker and murdered them all! I kill my unwanted shit like a man!!!! lol -Steve-

  • @OceanTownPictures I certainly don't have a problem with weed whackers!

  • The music overlay was great

I'm not much of a lawn guy myself. In fact, I've removed about 80% of what I started with back in 2001. They are impractical in SoCal. About dandelions. Get this. When I bought my house I asked at Home Depot if they had dandelion seeds. I like them on the fringes. The one thing worse though is arugula. I bought a pack off seeds in 2002 and they have spread far and wide and are impervious too everything but a 9" screwdriver after a good rain.

    :D

  • @bowlingballout I know I harp about dandelions but every bit of a dandelion is edible and very nutritious. Yes, I know they can be pesky in a lawn but there are non-poisonous ways of controlling them if one must. I applaud you for ditching the lawn idea in SoCal. A total waste of water. I've seen (pictures) of beautiful landscapes using native plants, rocks, etc.

  • it's too bad animals can't read the signs and will nibble the grass.

  • @bohogirl1 Perfect comment!

  • I think dandelions get a bad rap! ;0(

  • @kismet0717 I couldn't agree more. Of course, I'm "Dandelion Boy" so I'm prejudiced in their favor.

  • Yes, let's just get rid of those pesky dandelions and sray the hell out of nature. You know..since I was a child I have felt sorry for the dandelions trying so bravely to be pretty amongst the "real" flowers. Soon we won't even have "real" flowers..or grass..or trees. I'm grateful that I grew up in a different time, but worry for my grandchildren...and their children... Excellent vid Marc. hugs, Chris

  • @bugsinrug When I was a kid, no one worried about dandelions. It wasn't until the chemical companies started comparing yards that anyone gave a hoot. In the process of destroying dandelions, these chemicals have upset the balance of soil which has now become dependent on them.

  • @Perroquet51 Even until recently, early spring rains brought worms and night crawlers out of the ground and one could see robins and other birds feasting on them. Those valuable creatures would disappear after the first pesticide treatment. Now, so-called "lawn care" companies begin spraying so early, I don't even see worms in early spring.

  • This is the best time of the year. The smells of things blooming. The green fields polluted with daisies. The lovely chem trails overhead. The carcinogen filled lawns. Great video.

  • @audionautix LOL, yeppers! I just love the smell of carcinogens in late spring.
