@Rishukable Hey sweetie - try uploading something better yourself, then we can chat. In mean time you obviously fail at understanding how LARP combat works. Protip: they aren't sharp, and you are supposed to fight with them as if they're wooden sticks. its playfighting, no the real deal. Learn to internets before I get all Godwin on your ass.
@SpartanOfAmerica1234 - well, it all depends on where you play, what the rules there are, and what you play. If you dont want to fight, dont play a combat role. play the barkeep, or merchant, or musician. On how to fight? again, depends on the rules where you play. Typically a spear or something similarly long is a good beginner option, simply because you can keep people away from you. Alternatly, do not wear heavy armor or anything: Mobility is key. Outrun and circle around enemies. be sneaky
a little criticism in your fighting style-when using 2 weapons or a heavier weapon always follow through with your swing, you seem like your trying to stop the motion to go in a different direction when a turn of the wrist can keep the motion going and get your swing in the right direction
@rsviderpkk1ng Good observation - the reason I 'stop' the strikes is that the rules where I LARP state that you have to pull your blows: If I followed through with the strikes I'd be kicked out, pure and simple.
@DontPutSpiceonRice well i have thingies for throwing - but they have a fatal flaw: you throw them... away. you have to go pick them up. this means you disarm yourself + you have to search for them after the battle (and such things have a tendency to get lost)
@webkilla still, its kinda like arrows, its worth having to pick them up and all that. pluss the throwing weapons would be for assassinations and stuff like that. i'd have my sword on me at all times incase anything went wrong
@DontPutSpiceonRice true - but its a question of value and effort. arrows are cheap to make and easy to replace. a good balanced latex throwing weapon thats weighted enough to be worth a damn takes a lot more time and effort to make, and thus sucks all the harder to loose
@webkilla good point..but still, either way if you want to put alot of effort into LARP, your going to have to spend a good bit of money anyways xD
but also, ill probably just LARP in a smaller scale then most people. and probably mark my throwing weapons somehow. that way, it will be a tad easier to find them afterwards :3
and if anything, i can just buy new throwing daggers
You have good flow with your weapons, you always make sure that your other weapon is moving behind the other one, so the opponent cant get a decent chance to retaliate.
@itachi1303 true - but it fails on one simple account: range. Anyone with a longsword or a spear or a large two-handed sword can poke me before i get close enough to poke them.
see my other video - the Double Axe one - thats the weapon i prefer using.
its basically a figure-8 type motion done with both hands. i do not know the name of the move, but it is very intimidating and works great for having weapons all over the place to strike from any angle. to do it, just try it with a pen: pick it up, slash around in a figure 8 pattern. then learn to do with both hands.
i fail to see the problem here. they are big, but i can wield them quite well for their intended purpose - where's the problem? This is about as real as it gets for LARP weapons, unless you jump to blunt-edge steel weapons for reenactment.
The sense behind Larp is to let look real everything. So also the weapons, they were light earlier also not 2 kilos. Who does not finish playing this heard to the typical Fuchtlern, mostly beginner and unsuspecting.
its a question of balancing safety and realism. where i play 50% of the players are under the age of 13. they cannot handle metal weapons, which require actual weapon licenses here in denmark. 'toy' weapons out of foam and latex is something everyone can handle.
So you don`t use it for LARPing? But when you would to teach them, like they have to fight with real weapons, then, nevertheless, you must immediately teach them how they must also later make it then. Then they cannot fight also wildly.
i use the weapons shown in the video for LARPing. and of course its not the same combat style as the thing... i've actually taken classes in 14th century italian sword fighting, which included lessons in spear fighting, unarmed combat, as well as a little german dagger fighting. i know the difference between reality and play. the combat style used for roleplaying is based on marking you opponent in combat, simply touching him with your weapon, although it really depends on what rules youre using
american LARPs impose different rules and requirements for what is allowed - both on how hard the weapons can be, and what materials are ok to use.
danish LARP weapons, i've seen them dent steel helmets... they are HARD. also some ppl are allergic to latex - danish ppl are tough, we can handle it.. but in the US you might get sued for that
Dude, this is crap.
You handle the weapons like they were wooden sticks.
Learn how to fight, do a new costume and come back again...its better for everyone.

the weapons are very big, but you throwing them around, like they are little umbrellas or something.
IKorpiklaaniI 1 year ago
uhm... so is that a good thing or a bad thing?
they're fairly well balanced for what they're meant to do - plus they look heavier than they are.

That is bad, you have to do like they weapons are real in LARP.
But they are good Weapons
