@finerbiner I agree the majority of FOX viewers probably are older than the majority of other cable news viewers, but the fact remains that FOX is number 1 and the largest segment of the media market across the board is the 18-35 demographic. FOX couldn't be #1 overall without also being #1 in that group. That's my point. I'm sure if you narrow it down to 18-24 then FOX might not be #1, so it really depends on how you're defining "old".

I think you're doing a pretty fair bit of stereotyping there. The media market for the younger demographic (let's say 18-35 to keep it as general as you're being), is the largest sector (meaning ad time aimed at them are the most expensive). Fox scores higher in that age group than MSNBC, so I think you're not really being objective.

Rupert Murdoch was smart in that he realized that news programs were center and center left in their approach. He chose to go center right to very right and this has given FOX an audience that they really have no competition for. My orig statement is fact based though. FOX does have an older viewership. @finerbiner I agree the majority of FOX viewers probably are older than the majority of other cable news viewers, but the fact remains that FOX is number 1 and the largest segment of the media market across the board is the 18-35 demographic. FOX couldn't be #1 overall without also being #1 in that group. That's my point. I'm sure if you narrow it down to 18-24 then FOX might not be #1, so it really depends on how you're defining "old".

I HATE how debates on FOX always end up like this! They can't have a real CIVILIZED debate!! 5 year olds debating over toy trains are more civilized than any Fox commentators.
