Cant say which is better but i play LoL. This LOOKS very similar to LoL so could someone explain what mechanics make it more deep and complex as opposed to LoL? (trying to learn. not saying which is better. I just haven't hear of any Dota tournaments within the year. maybe I'm just not in the mix. lol) Thanks in advance!

@ArdentRage Some mechanics that make Dota deeper: Creep denying, rune control, and items with more team based mechanics (mana boots, urn, dust of deceit, and mekansm for example).

Also, items are generally more complex than the ones found in LoL, many of which have very unique active abilities.

There are also more complex Jungle Mechanics which include creep stacking and creep pulling even juking is more complex as it has to do with line of sight rather than bushes.

As far as the "LoL vs Dota" debate goes, most people seem to have it right.

LoL is sort of comparable to the Modern Warfare series in my mind. It's easy to pick up and do ok with as it isn't a very deep game... one reason why it's so popular.

Dota (2), on the other hand has far deeper mechanics, more complex controls, more heroes, requires more teamwork, and is extremely balanced. Overall it's a deeper, more competitive, and more rewarding game IF you're willing to put in the time and effort

For all the dumb asses out there: LoL copies dota, not the other way round, dota came out years before LoL did. LoL creators invited icefrog(maker of dota) to help create LoL in similiar ways to dota, so did HoN creators. DOTA2 Is basically dota revamped on another platform with greater graphical ability. Personally having played dota for 5 years now, LoL is a too easy to play and gets boring. Beginners should play LoL and get a REAL taste of the genre to Dota. JUST SAYING.

@jynx13 Condescending, I can understand. But annoying? Purge is nearly on a professional-level DOTA level, he's well-informed of mechanics and does his best to point out common mistakes and errors.  He doesn't sound annoying, he's just teaching.

Don't wanna start as DotA/HoN/LoL-Fight here, I personally prefer LoL, but that is everyones own buisness, but saying that LoL is "easier" compared to other MOBAs is just straight bullshit. The mechanics are different in some points, but that doesn't make it easier. After all, challange in these games mostly comes from the individual skill of you, your team and your enemies.

The developers created it to be more newbie friendly and alot easier to digest when it comes to the map and gameplay mechanics. Just saying they have different mechanics does not nulify that argument, it isn't that there are different mechanics but rather that there are more mechanics in DotA and HoN than LoL

@dasWombat01 Hey, man, I'm with ya. I like that LoL relies less on the snowballing aspects than HoN and Dota. Also, Riot dumps some of the sillier mechanics of the "traditional" Moba like mana burn and denying. As bad as the community can be, LoL was never as elitist in my experience as either HoN or Dota.
