the reason he gets a good cast is cus he hits the water at the back of him then uses the water to bounce it forward its common to drop the fly in the water on the back cast it cuses a drag and when it leaves the water it sort of bouncys out cusing a much further cast than norm
I had no idea... I kept looking at the line touching the water near him, but didnt know that was part of the technique. I can almost grasp that, but not quiet yet.
Great line control and rod handling abilities...for those wondering about or questioning the practical use of these casts...you'll need to spend alot more time chasing Atlantic Salmon or Steelhead on many different size & styles of rivers...then you may start to clue in...
You guys are such haters! You shouldn't give this kid crap for trying something new in the sport, you should be congratulating him for not wanting to play fly fishing on PS2, or 360! Try to enjoy the sport, and not player hate so much. Good job with your casting, keep up the good work. For all of you jerks that know it all, why are you watching videos on youtube, when you could be competing with the Rajeff brotherw or something?
This is an adaptation of a roll cast.. It's very effective when you have something behind you, or are casting from a high Bank, lot easier to perform with a double handed rod

Basic casting is the best and will get you some nice fish. Should not go further than this!!!! It is not a competition for the best cast, JUST THE BIGGEST FISH!

It's called an anchor point, and yes it helps, to load a rod better. It's the same principle used in spey casting.

Nice every thing. I don't think I've seen that cast before. Its awesome!
How do you manage to cast like that and not get tangled (humble question)?
How old is the flyfisher on the video?

basic casting does not work in all sittuations.
did you see the bush behind.
it also looks like he is spay casting which allows you to shoot lots of line with little back cast.
it lets you cast alot further than roll casting.
wicked casting man keep it up!

Do you even own a fly rod?? My local waters are lake Ontario tribs and I utilize a form of spey/roll cast 90% of the time. Get a clue!
