  • I originally thought that Celine was the original, but watching this for the first time, it has become my favorite. The way she sang it is so heartfelt, and her voice, wow, superb!

  • Diane Warren has got to be one of the world's greatest lyricist The world has ever known

Miss Patti Is One of the Greatest Divas ever to walk the planet. This is one of my favorite songs period.

  • This is definitely going to be my first dance song if i get married! <3

  • I Seen This Music Video, And I Watch License To Kill Last Night

  • After Sean Connery, Timothy Dalton was the best James Bond. 007 fan and collector since 1981.

  • Ask Celine Which version she like best......She'll tell you. Celine was paying tribute to Patti. Some songs Celine sung the heck out of like no one else could.....and so did Patti. This one is hers.

  • Patti killed Celine. Be real with yourselves. They just did the classic: "steal a song from a black person, give it to a white person and commericalize it".Happened all the time in the 40s, 50s, and 60s. Look at Elvis. Celine is a good singer but she didn't sing this song better. It just got more promotion and exposure when Celine redid it for some reason.

  • @scinnyc ..U R right on the money...

  • wow...hadn't heard this version in a while. Still like Celine's version better....

  • Great rendition but I do think Celine Dion owned this song. Anywhere in this world you ask who sang this song they will answer Celine Dion.

  • @Chubstreet Not when I ask them. Compare the veiws of Celine's video to Patti's.

  • one of my mom's favorites & one of mine also....i luv it :) xxxxxxx

  • I LOVE THIS SONG..... :)

  • Too Damn Strong, too much Oracle reparation, So Superbly Executed!

  • I prefer Ms. Patti LaBelle over Celine's cover of the song.... :) I thought celine is just screaming

  • Rochelle likes it...

  • Simply The Best..Whitney is gone but we still have Patti.

  • @nigel7711 For a while...

  • she sounds like a mouse to me or somebody with cleft palate.... idk... i think i really just can understand good music,,,,

  • i hear this song 20 years later and i still love it !!

  • Beautiful song! James Bond will return...soon!

  • The 49 ppl who dis likes this sng must really be out thur mnd. ppl jus dnt kno real music wen they hear it anymore!!!

  • "SUPERSARD"

  • i love this song plus performer singer patti labelle is the best ever! cheers

  • Just Beautiful Thank You For Your Magic Voice

  • This is Patti's song. I love Celine. But I always felt this song belonged to Patti the moment I heard her sing it. The meaning of the song does not pass me either.

  • Very beautiful song, great singer!

  • Bond will return.....

  • Celine dion is an EXCELLENT vocalist, but this is Paiit's song and she wins this round!

  • I only know of this song cause of Licence to Kill...and it makes me cry each time i hear it =(

  • i really love this song. :-)

  • I dunno after listening to patty's version and celine's version back to back I have to say Patty sounds like she's holding back the entire song and when Celine sings it she is going through her whole range. When a person has a really powerful voice and you give them a simple song it's just not impressive but it was a good fit for Celine.

  • Like who u like and shut up..Patti is the bomb...

  • If I'd ever meet Celine Dion for a 1 minute I would ask her what does she think of herself of stealing from so many much more greater artist?

  • i dedicate this song to my husband eddie ..i luv u very much...thx for making me feel so special n luved...

  • This brings back some memories of the early 90`s.xxx

  • check out the RealDondada version of the song (married to the game)

  • I Luv Patti's version bettter than Celine Dion's. She didnt get a lot of radio play for her version but Celine ended up winning numerous awards for her version......It was the SAME song though! Patti thought it was a racist thing......I dont think so.

  • @MzMali92 She thought racism was part of the reason

  • @kdrayf01 It wasn't racism, it just happens. If that was the case she would have NO hits.

  • @kdrayf01 I wonder was it racism when Whitney Houston version of 'I Will Always Love You' became bigger then the original by Dolly Parton?

  • @whayes8084 It always has been harder for black people to be successful in this world. Though, I do disagree with her racism theory. A young sing always will be more successful than a one in their 40s, 50s, and 60s

  • amazing singer and a great song. But seriously her hair is defying the laws of gravity!

  • Love this song...this is when she lost her 3rd sister to cancer

  • Licence to Kill <3

  • Celine and Patti, both are great singers.

  • celine dion is an excellent diva , but she is not in this league.

  • @skababooshka I second that!

  • This song made me sit through the end credits for License to Kill.

  • Queen of Pop

  • @86am no she would be more like a diva or r b/soul

  • One of the best, and least well known Bond songs. Brilliant!

  • I'm 23 years and this ma JAM!!!!!! no lie.

  • patti is by far the best female singer of all time hands down I love myself some patti

  • Rihanna: punch yourself.

  • @chgosatrap That was a purely hateful thing to say

  • @kdrayf01

    Thanks

  • @chgosatrap Jackass

  • Ms.Patti is my all time favorite female vocalist. She is still a vocal beast even today. Love this song. Patti brings it everytime live or recorded. She just has that type of voice. You will always get the real deal from Ms.Patti! Love her! Biggest fan ever!

  • More like this are needed

  • love it.

  • Ms. Labelle recorded this song the day after her sister's funeral. That's why she is wearing black. She had made a promise to her sister and she didn't fulfill it and this was her way of apologizing to her.

  • To be honest? This is WAY better than Celine's version. I can't believe I used to say the opposite. Celine is good, but this is a complete other level. NONE can top the soul in black people's vocals.

  • This is the BEST version hands down!

  • Doctorw2...I totally agree this is the perfect wedding song...if I ever get married again this song will definitely be my wedding song.

  • This song is from the James Bond movie Licence To Kill... not The Living Daylights

  • owesome voice

  • i was shocked to find out this song was in a james bond movie. the living daylights was a good song but this just stole the show

  • I LOVING DEDICATE this song in memory of my LATE,GREAT-UNCLE Boyd Hummons from Dayton,OH......You pain and suffering has now ended, MAY YOU NOW REST ETERNAL AND SWEET,HEAVENLY PEACE......

  • she actually kicks the ass of contraltos

  • the perfect wedding song

  • Licensed to Kill had the best opening/closing songs EVER. (movie sucked though)

  • The ORIGINAL and the BEST!!!!

  • Fabulous song-one of her best ones!

  • Patti is Number One!

  • { "If You Asked Me To" is the title of a song written and originally released as the lead single for Patti LaBelle's seventh solo studio album, entitled Be Yourself, and for the Licence to Kill soundtrack. Celine did her version in '92 where it took off for her career. Patti did the video right after her third sister passed away hint the reason why she is dressed in black + singing in a church. the song never took off for Patti + i hate that because i love the original than Celine's version. }

  • @GAred1976 Trust me, a lot of people prefer this version :)

  • Haha.I feel sorry for the shoes. I love you, Patti forever!

  • FUCK Celine Dion! THIS was the VERSION that ROCKED!!!! It was AMAZING and PURELY showcased Ms. LaBelle's FABULOUS Range!

  • @wdharvey1 Oh you are right, but this isnt a version, this is the original, celines carbon copy is the version

  • @neva4getMJthegreat I understand you may be attempting to be sarcastic, but, even on the internet, one never knows, so here is my response: Yes, I know Patti LaBelle is the original. But, when there is more than 1of the original, both are different "versions" of the same. Therefore, one quantifies the "version"...such as "I like Patti LaBelle's "version" best. So, there was nothing to correct. Thanks for the sarcasm.

  • @wdharvey1 shut up! if u dont like celine, you dont have right to bash her, an insane guy

  • I'm not quite sure whether I like Patti LaBelle's or Celine Dion's voice more. Both are amazing singers who can never be replaced. <3<3<3

  • @firestarally Let's start by getting rid of Celine Dion...that bitch drives me nuts with her arrogance.

  • this song almost made me wanna cry. :} its so beautiful.....

  • essa é uma das maiores cantoras

    isso é musica

pow agora lady gaga que orro!!!

  • I love it when she does this song live

  • This was a very personal song at the time she had lost one of her relatives by cancer again at the time.

  • License to kill end credits. Tune.

  • I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YA''LL BUT I LOVE LIVING

  • What a powerful voice....

  • lost most of her family and patti is still stronger then ever :)

  • Patti LaBelle and Monica Naranjo (Stage) the best voices of the world!

  • Patti performed this on the Rosie Show the other night. She held that not at the hook for 20 seconds. It gave me chills. She killed it. She did so good, instead of going on with a planned part of the show Rosie asked her to sing again and I'm so glad she did.("Love, Need, & Want You"). Just go to my channel to see.

  • @FanofLaBelle I went to your channel and watched it. I love Patti LaBelle but hated her live version on Rosie's show. I prefer the recorded version.

  • @scribe712 Well she is 67 now :P

  • @scribe712 Well if you didn't like that version( which I can't see why you didn't b'cuz it was AMAZING) then you should look at the other live versions b'cuz they are sooo great!!! The one she did in 1998 at the On Night Only Concert was one of her best performances( in my opinion).

  • @FanofLaBelle I went to ur chanel and i see the videos. I'm feeling a big shame because this is the first time i'm watching a video of this artist. This woman is so amazing and this is what we call a real singer. Not someone hiding behind auto tunes.

She can say now she has a new fan.

I suscribe to ur chanel and hope to see more videos about her. Thanks for sharing!

  • @architectejosee Thanks & I have two other channels with even better videos,(LaBelleObamafan4life & QueenOldSkool) you should really check them out.

  • we know who Patti is singingthis to. Jesus Christ . its her beautiful song toGod with us! merry Christmas everyone. God bless you all!! Sing this to Christ Jesus! feel it!! thanks lov john

  • @donnalovesJesus1 Crazy much...

  • I will never get tired of this song!!!!!

  • ESSA MUSICA E MUITO LINDA,DEDICO A VOÇE EDVALDO EU O AMO MUITO

  • Now, I dedicate this song to Jeff Good, South Bend IN. He died when there was no hope for AIDS. Painful slow death. We miss you still. You told me how you loved Patti, she made you forget the disease that made you so misrable. I love you bubba. Always will, you taught me dignity with the rest of the girls and guys.

  • I asked for Patti, not the other shit. Black Eyed Piss? They are no talents compared to this ICON, you are fucking stupid. Fuck your marketing, you have gone to far. The new look is baby boomer needy. Just stupid and makes my new laptop work too hard.

  • i love this song by patti she a very good singer!!!!!!

  • Fuckin A!!!!

  • This song is so inspiring! It's a song i play for my husband to let him know how much i love him.. Love me some Patti and love this song :)

  • Licence to Kill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This was the song that my boyfriend, now husband, played on his Harley - screaming through our head sets - Always the best and then OVER THE RAINBOW - been there since.... ♥

  • She is the Queen of the weaves , me thinks in 40 years she has worn enough weaves to fill an entire cimetary. she needs her own landfill.

  • I love this song...

  • great song, didn't hear the song until I watched the DVD of Licence to Kill

  • both the voice and the hair are... epic :)

  • @911reagan yea she "blows" us away with her voice and you too, your just hating'. LOL

  • @911reagan LOL your point?? We don't care, she rocks and we lover her!!! So Hahahaha

  • i love it

  • I love her voice! It's 1 of a kind in the world.

  • THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN #1.... ONLY TACKED ON AT THE END OF A BOND FILM HOW CRAP WAS THAT? WHY AM I SHOUTING? OH.... caps lock stuck lol

F*ing great track, best version and all round great singer..... love x 100%

  • @TheSSMusicChannel ...i love this song and it even gets more impact due to the Bond film, i guess they have to match it with the mushy scene on the last part that's why it went right there...and maybe was overshadowed by the track "license to kill" by gladys knight...

  • Love this song so so so so much...

  • This is the song that I remember from License To Kill, not the song by Gladys Knight. Patti's version is the original and has heart. It is powerful yet heartfelt. It made me fall in love with Patti.

  • whoa that hair...lol

  • I love this song she's the best:)

  • Celine whatever her name is will never be as good as patti ...pete2784

  • patti did this video, one day after her sisters funeral, who died of cancer, ,so gives a whole new meaning to the song, not just a movie theme, yes those were real tears

  • I love this WHOLE song, the artist, and the genious composition!

  • Those were real tears in this video.

  • although i adore miss patti(HER BELTING RANGE IS PHENOMENAL!!) , i don't really like her lower register or the way she began the song...it sounds like she's inhaled HELIUM( a lil bit)..well maybe to each his own...ending was phenomenal!

  • Patti sings a phenomenal version of this song however so does Celine Dion; both of these artists have incredible vocal ranges. Just as beauty is in the eye of the beholder, the same goes for ears and music. Listen and enjoy or "tune out" the world needs alot less disrespect.

  • Patti looks so pretty in this video. She is mourning the loss of her sister Jackie, but she still looks pretty. I also think that in this she shows that she is also happy that Jackie is in a better place.

  • Patti was the first to release this great song and it's outrageous that it stalled outside of the Top 40 on Billboard's Hot 100 but then that screeching Banshee Celine Dion's version a few years later went Top Five! Absolutely outrageous and insulting to Ms. LaBelle...actually, it's insulting to anyone with ears!

  • @james1200 This song is a hit and Celine's version should not have hit where it did! That pissed me off when I found out!

  • @james1200

That is so true. It is such ashame and disgrace on how when a black person comes out with a song that it barely or rarely makes the Top 40 on Billboard's Hot 100 but just as soon as a white person "copies and/or remakes" the song, all of sudden the song is an instant hit or an overnight sensation then people start to take notice and praise the white person for singing the song WITHOUT giving the black person who originally sang the song any credit or recognition.

  • @mlcoolk1 this has been going on since forever, since fannie brice had a hit with 'my man'.

  • @mlcoolk1 Kinda how Whitney did with I Will Always Love You, Maxwell with This Woman's Work and Al Green with How Do You Mend A Broken Heart? LOL

  • Miss Patti you are something else. Love the awesome way you sing this!

  • my fave song by ms. patti. i was so mad when celine got more recognition for this song. nobody does patti but patti!

  • @AnotherDamnOpinion amen!!!!! but whitney and dolly parton ( I will always love you) same thing....but whitney did sing her butt off....I like celine but I like patti's better

  • i love you Ms LaBelle.......

  • Check out Patti river dance at the end!

  • I wasn't aware of this version.....only Celine's from 91/92. The song has without the doubt immense quality....great stuff!!!

  • @pete2784 Lol...this is not a version this is the ORIGINAL! Celine's sings a "version"

  • @SunriseSub Often imitated, never duplicated! Patti LaBelle is the standard bearer of classic R & B, PERIOD! GO PHILLY!!! :-)

  • I love this song... Music was the shit then

  • Lady Gaga?? Vevo... are you fucking serious!?? How dare you advertise that blasted woman on this legendary Diva's page! What the flying FUCK!?

    Im very insulted right now...

  • @jasdeviel You got Gaga I got Beyonce I am insulted too

  • @jasdeviel uhm. so what if lady gaga is advertised? it's okay to dislike someone. but to hate them with a passion even though you've never been in 10 feet near them is kinda biased and childish.

  • @jasdeviel Now it's really bad, Justin Beiber is behind Patti. SMH

  • Always thought this was better than the actual James Bond theme

  • 1 of her Best Songs ever!!!! They on that Haterade.....

  • Totally agree, the stupid idiot 40 dislikes, well i am just sorry for ya'll taste. No one can and will ever do this song better. This is perfection

  • The forty dummies that don't like this song are just hating on one the greatest voices

in the world Sang it baby!!!!!!!

  • the 39 people that dislike this are the people that enjoy all this crap music people are putting out nowadays

  • I get so emotional..... When I hear this song.... I wish I had someone to love.. If you are blessed to be happy and in a great relationship you are so lucky....

  • @seanviv2

sorry but now you have me depressed too I:-/

  • I love how she kicks off her shoes :)

  • @phoenixvalley So do I!

  • Classic!!!

  • amei essa música.
