no...its an L4..the pickup is next to the neck (a 175 has a space between pup and neck) and also it has the L4 tailpiece and inlay on the bridge...175s have no inlay there...other than the solid top, not much diff though
Hi guys here is a list of published books by Joe Diorio. And adding to these books we can not forget Joe Pass that besides great musician, contributed to numerous books and DVD for teaching the language of jazz. I think Joe Diorio expanded concepts and techniques in the jazz language. Today is the guitarist with a wealth of material for teaching the guitar.
I was introduced to Joe Diorio's genius by my guitar teacher in 1978. The book was simply called Fusion. Some of the solos in that book I am still challenged by, and not only the technique required but the highly developed ear required.
Joe Diorio is the thinking person's musician. More than any musician I can think of, Mr Diorio is leading the pack, breaking new ground, something traditionally done by horn players (in jazz at least).
@RaymondFRevalee Yeah, and I am certain that you've done way more than Joe has done in the music business. You've played with several jazz greats, traveled all over the world several times and made alot of money, too. . . and I bet you've taught jazz guitar and basic music at the college level as well. . . Am I right?
I love listening to this quality guitar playing, I only wish the microphone or pre-amp set up into recorder were better. That takes some getting used to. But yes, Joe, the melody is just gorgeous. I love the Gibby 175... Original pups on that 1950s guitar (I'm guessing)....
i silently an patiently wait and yearn for the day when people will finally begin to see and understand the difference between "tone" and "sound"... *sigh"... here: "sound" (lots of noise etc.) = not so good, "tone" (e.g. "what's in his fingers") = one of the best ever.
@BurnElectric Check out his latest DVD Solo Guitar Concepts...he's stepped up NO DOUBT! Since that DVD he's had a stroke, relearning to play again...but he's quite happy to just have a pencil and some manuscript paper to continue writng creative music. No small feat. I'm glad you see his mastery though(o; Peace...
@UnitedEffect yeah, i read bout the stroke some two years ago. you're glad i see his mastery TOUGH? :)) "stepping back" means slowing down, laying low, etc, not that he's declining as a player. true musicians always grow, no mystery here
@BurnElectric yes...u c it even though you call him a "crazy old man". perhaps you mean it as a term of endearment? i've just never heard it said that way. i'm not sure why you say his mastery-tough. Tough work to get there i guess. Oh maybe a typo? Whatever...not important, no big deal. I certainly agree true musicians always keep learning and growing. Let's wish the old fellow all the best. ~*~
Yeah that tone does kinda blow. I don't know if it was the camcorder used to record it, our if it was just bad tone on Joes part. Either way, it sounds vary similar to a child's keyboard set to "Jazz Guitar"
Joe's a hell of a player. Not the greatest teacher though. From what I've seen. (I've watched one 1 hour vid and a handfull of short vids posted here.) I think Joe is playing for a type of player- once you've been playing long enough, this type of video is all you need.
The fun is trying to duplicate what he's doing and blowing your mind in the process.
Some people's idea of fun !
pekoe67 2 years ago 2
Yeah, but you can do that with any video of any performance, right? This is a performance or a demo. It's just not a lesson. It's great. It's just labeled poorly.
geoffstockton 2 years ago
Any video of any performance isn't presented in split screen with a close-up of the performer's hand.
The label is "Joe Diorio Solo Guitar Concepts"
A 'lesson' is anything in life that you learn from.
It sounds like this clip isn't helpful to you but that's your experience, not an objective fact about this video.
