“Let me tell you, the thing that they got wrong, Muhammad never said to cut the gloves off. I was there. They must have been thinking about the first Liston fight. When Muhammad got back to the corner after the 14th round, I knew we had Joe. I said ‘Loosen up kid, this is the last round, let’s get him.’ If you see, when we get in the corner, (between the 14th and 15th round) I am pumping my fist as I talk."

You Cannot Simply Compare An MMA Fighter To A Boxer. And LOL If You Think Ali Or Tyson Or Suga Ray Or The Greatest Of All Times Including Frazier Etc Can Finish The Likes Of Liddel Ortiz Or Carwin Or Brock Or Anyone From UFC ... GUYS GUYS. UFC HAS GOT GROUND GAME. JIU JITSU KICKS IN... these Boxers are never trained to fight on guard. Thats Why Just STOP FUCKING COMPARING... Both Are Different Sports !!!!!
@GregorTansin UFC doesn't include any finesse, boxxing is an art, UFC is just two pissed off, roidded up, walking billboards swinging wildly at each other.
@MrCodywt UFC fighters are not on roids... and they need to swing wildly at each other because they only have 3 rounds to win the fight, whereas in boxing they have 12.
The fuck is everyone talking about Liddell for?!? Yep he'd get smashed by these guys in boxing. But throw them in the cage and Liddell would throw them on their head and punch their face in.
@lilsm555 rather see em try and knock each other out than hump each other on the ground, hell your not even allowed to hold for very long at all in boxing, punch or get punched
MMA fighters would most likely lose in a Boxing Match
It all depends on the sport they are in. I watch Boxing, Kickboxing, and MMA. They all are equally enjoyable if you don't look at them in such a crude way. Only striking can be entertaining, and ground fighting can be entertaining as well if you understand it all and take the time to watch it.
To many people compare the sports when they don't need to. They are all great to watch.
I was 11 when i seen this fight in a little town called Alliston On Canada.I bet this guy Ali would win it was a 1 dollar bet,The guy was so drunk he tossed it on the floor and that is where it sat until of course Ali was the winner and that 1 dollar turned out to be a twenty. The easiest bet ever @0 bucks was a lot of money then
@example6978 I am and I have a girl friend. Wrestling is a lot harder then most people think. When I was on the wrestling team at school I didn't go in with intentions of feeling on guys, I went in with intentions of hurting someone. That would be like saying a boxer is gay when he clinches or hugs up on his opponent when in reality it is not true.
Former heavyweight world champion Joe Frazier was arrested in February 2004 after police responded to a 911 domestic violence call from his North Philadelphia home. When police arrived a woman, the mother of Frazier's son, answered the door. She told the police that Frazier had hit her and there were injuries to her face to back up the claim. The charges were later dropped, after the woman refused to testify against Frazier.
@MMAUpdater funny how many on this page referred to the sport as UFC and you targeted my comment out. Thanks....that shows how you actually read mine since I didn't mindlessly blast U-F-C...MMA...you would think when someone refers to UFC they would understand that those letters encompass everything within the organization. And explain to me how referring to the sport as UFC automatically makes me uneducated of the sport. Sounds to me like you are a bitter person who cannot handle the criticism
@TheDavidamendoza Not really. Generally I see many people especially where I live who just refer to the sport of MMA as UFC fighting. I often hear people say "This nigga doing that UFC shit"
@TheMusicThrasher Well MMA fans don't go to watch an MMA fight thinking about it that way. We go in thinking one guy is going to get beat down, submitted or it is gonna an all out war.
People who talk about MMA like that are ignorant and need to realize the athleticism and skill it takes. You don't just roll on the ground either there is so much more to it, you are homophobic to think like that.
please dont have the muslim debate over these two legends! im a muslim and i shed a tear when i heard joe passed away, one of my hero's, will be missed alot!
@BERTO929 Are you kidding me?! Ali is the best boxer to have ever lived! You need to check your brain or something, because you have no idea what your talking about buddy.
What a great fight this was. Sure this was one of Ali's hardest fights, and big respect to Frazier who would have kept coming all night long. RIP Joe Frazier.
Yes, if things had been different and circumstances had gone MY way, and I had taken up boxing and been better than Ali and beaten him on the day I would be world champion now. What a pity.
@TerminalVelocity14 LOL UR KIDDING RIGHT? Randy couture would beat the shit outta these guys have you seen what he did to james toney? and chuck murdered randy
@musood6630 well if you talk about a boxing match sure, but i doubt ali or frazier would be able to get out from laying on his back with an experienced MMA (ex champ) who has a wrestling background thats on top of him..
@musood6630 Ali got his ass whooped by a proffesional wrestler so I'm pretty sure Liddell would finish him in less than one round. With fighting rules.
@Jonasboll He had a draw with Antonio Inoki. Inokia was 31 in his prime and Ali was almost 37 years old and already seeing the early signs of Parkinsons. Like that is a fair comparison. Get your factss right before you mka e a comment. MMA fighters are slow as shit even with 4oz gloves on. You give Ali 4oz gloves, he will probably look like a ghost cause Lidell won't even see the punches.
@musood6630 Yeah Im yet to see an MMA fighter step in the ring with a boxer ANY PRO FIGHTER btw!!! The best puncher with the most power in mma wouldnt last 1 round with a professional Boxer.
@hunkallgood73 Lol the best MMA striker/puncher Nick Diaz, got his ass kicked in 3 rounds of sparring by an Olympic medalist Omar Henry. Diaz got the shit kicked out of him by an amateur boxer. Now it doesn't take that much IQ or brain power to realize a proper pro fighter like Mayweather or Martinez could probably KO a UFC heavyweight with 4oz gloves. The difference in punching skill and power is that much.
Both Ali & Frazier were tenacious fighters when they have donned their boxing gloves. Their put their hearts, mind & soul in what they were doing & gave their very best.
They will always be cherished & remembered with great fondness & admiration for generations to come.
Farewell, Frazier. Others will follow you when the Angel of Death comes calling. It's only a matter of time.
Frazier himself petitioned with President Nixon to allow Ali to fight for the Heavy Weight Title again. Despite all the verbal abuse he suffered from Ali. This is what a true hero does. RIP
Anyone would be making a castrophic error when writing the history of the United States of America without significantly mentioning Muhammad Ali's name. RIP Frazier.
@MichaeljacksonAFG Ali is fuckin' NAILS, and so was Joe. These guys could spit Tyson out into a a slop bucket. People like Frank Bruno are pussies compared to these guys
If Joe wasn't blind in one eye he would have destroyed Ali. He still had a lot of energy, but he couldn't see in the last three rounds. Ali is great, but he was really exhausted.
@banofee999 That is actually incorrect. Foreman in his prime was in 1989, not in 1977. So when he knocked Foreman out, it was 12 years before his prime.
@shelleyinthecity o_0 um oooook so your saying that your prime is when your 40???? i'd agree that when foreman was old he was a much more skilled and experianced fighter so was in quite a few ways more dangerous. but dude use your head your prime is from like 20 to 30 not 40. man boxing historians would burn you alive if they saw your comment
@banofee999 Most fighters peak at 20-30, but not all. Foreman is one who peaked after age 30. Pacquiao is a better fighter after age 30 than he was before 30. Mayweather is just a strong after 30 as he was before. Although it is true for most fighters, it is not true for all.
