What a bunch of fucking muppets we Aussie are. We grease up our arses and take whatever the state gives us. We clap as the cops are given draconian powers. We chant moronic Orwellian slogans like "the innocent have nothing to fear". We layid down like paid whores when they took guns away from law abiding citizens. We cheer when police act like hired goons. We love our censorship. Sorry Aussies, but most of us don't have the slightest idea of what freedom and liberty means. Makes me fucking sick!
What is strange on Youtube that i noticed is that on the videos that show police being calm and merely doing the best they can against aggressors and arrested / detained people you get some extreme anti police comments. Yet When you see them in numbers in a public order pushing a photographer down everyone supports them! Not saying they were wrong for doing so but it is more questionable how to justify their actions. Can't win with the public! lol
All you wankers supporting this brutality are pathetic little twerps.
Her NAME, YOU RETARDS - is Paula Bronstein and she is an internationally known Getty award winning photo journalist and she had FULL APEC accreditation and EVERY FUCKING right to be there.
I hear the prick say 'she's okay' - how the fuck would he know? 5 psycho cops slam her head first onto cement and that is okay??? it could easily have killed her.
If 'that' is what cops are - we are all better off without them.
I'll admit that it was a bit too aggressive but still, everyone was pretty uptight about APEC considering some of the world's biggest leaders were all in one spot and the current terroist threat. She was pushing her luck a bit by trying to get past them to get a better shot.
admitidly, some people fall like rocks, and some people dont know their own strength...put them together you get this...the officer probably did feel bad about it, but in these curcumstances, you cant go back to her and be all sorry or you will get your head kicked in
@blakeyonthebuses Well if the cop tell someone to move on and you tell them to fuck off in most other countries you would get beaten up. Only in Australia do we think that we can tell the cops to get fucked and they wont don anything about it
@badpanda84 its nice that you think we should live in a world where certain people are allowed to beat other people up for saying things we dont like.
@badpanda84 Police arent polite at almost all protests, especially when they know there arent any cameras around. they are mostly provocative and violent.
@ILIKEWALLS Beside by the time the have taken action ( like in this video) it is highly likely that they would have warned the protestors several times..
If the protestors actually listened the first time then police wouldnt have to resort to phyically removing them
@badpanda84 im glad you are so happy to let the state have total control of your life and the right to let its enforcers tell you what to do but im not. i take it you have never been to a protest in your life
@ILIKEWALLS But on the other hand I wouldn't whinge and scream police bruailty when I knowing provated police armed with battons.. You really think they just carry them around for show.
What did you expect to happen.. of course police are going to use force if you dont listen.. what did you expect them to do.. keep telling you to move back all day..
@ILIKEWALLS OK what should police have done in this case -- lets say police have warned prosters to move back countless times.. what then.. -- keep in mind that simply going home is not an opinion of the police ( cause lets face it.. not all protestors there go with peaceful intentions)
@badpanda84 so its stupid to stand up for what you believe in? though im sure given your total apathy you dont have anything you believe in enough. i only ask as you've shown almost total ignorance of what protests are
@ILIKEWALLS but it should be intresting to see what you think police should do about it -- there is a reason police are there in the first place and that is because these so called peaceful protest never end up peaceful
@badpanda84 the reason police are there is a precaution, there are just as many police present at major sporting events and in fairness more violence, but sports events dont inevitably end in violence. it is a police tactic when large crowds gather, have you ever been in a large crowd?

@ILIKEWALLS "she was taking pictures in the middle of the street nowhere near police"

While you are certainly entittiled to do so you can't really complain when you get beaten up.
@badpanda84 Its interesting that you place the NSW police on the same moral and ethical standing as hardened organised violent criminals. glad we have found some common ground
As opposed to, wow, gee, North Korea? Pakistan? Cuba? Half of Africa? Saudi Arabia? I lived in Saudi Arabia for a while, try acting up around their state police force and see what happens? Shit, wear shorts and see what happens? What a stupid thing to say - we have top cops, and they had every right to push that woman - she was acting in a manner that could be considered antagonistic, what if she had a knife? Might sound stupid, but stranger things have happened. KEEP OUR COPS.
That was great. She deserved it and I do hope that many many more of the filthy, maggot, hippy, lefty, tree hugging freaks who showed up got that and heaps more! Go the cops!! Great stuff!!
That is violent, violently gripping hold of a woman then throwing another woman down 2 the ground so she nearly breaks her back! The law is so unfair...
only 12 seconds of the whole of APEC, hardly enough to pass judgment over the whole police force, law enforcement or whatever. people who hate the police will continue to do so until the moment they need them.
People overreacted over apec 07. NSW police had the toughest job of keeping things in order, and they did well. You would wanna see that many cops and that much aggression when theres something like cronulla riots wouldnt ya? It was the same at apec. that photographers an idiot.
your a fucking idiot with your hand in your dads underwear all night. This fucking douche bag women was told to get the fuck back and its no one elses fault besides hers that she got totally owned and knocked the fuck out of.
shut the fuck up you tree hugger. I never said anything about jumping off cliffs and if a police told you to, you obviously wouldnt. In this case of backing off when they tell you, you OBVIOUSLY would because these are riot squad police with special powers for APEC. That bitch got everything she deserved. Watch the full video of this and the cops were reasoning with her for nearly a minute.
"no way police brutality?" PROOF THE POLICE NO LONGER WORK FOR THE PEOPLE BUT FOR THE CORPORATIONS, OPEN YOUR FUCKING EYES, WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE? YOUR DOOR BEING KICKED DOWN BY 10 ARMED STORM TROOPERS TAKING YOU AND YOUR FAMILY AWAY ON A TRAIN BEFORE YOU WAKE UP!!! THIS IS A WORLD WIDE ISSUE HERE! PEOPLE ARE BEING TRAINED TO THINK THIS KIND OF BEHAVIOR IS NORMAL!
@littlenaismith no these are the riot squad police, which basically means u dont fuck with them, they are trained to be forceful and assertive. the ones dressed in blue are the ones you expect to be nice to you. these guys arent your friends, they dont want to be either
@littlenaismith Do you have to right like a child? I didn't bother reading your comment because there are too many CAPITALS. I cant talk to people like you.
Paula Bronstein sought justice for this obvious example of police brutality - and was stonewalled by corrupt police. She was an accredited APEC photographer (and a highly respected one as it happens) and HAD EVERY RIGHT to do EXACTLY as she was. -- So SIT DOWN and TRAP IT you fukkin pathetic twirps.
The worst thing about this incident, was it was found that one of the people arrested, we falsely imprisoned. The others are currently seeking to have their cases heard against the police.
The Police had every right to do that people they said dont do that what ever they said and she did dont respect the law the law doesnt respect you, it makes me laugh how people hate cops but give it a good thought what Australia would be like without cops.
If a cop crosses the line - make your mouth a steel trap and lock it. They will tell you a world of shit - and it IS all bullshit.
You can film them as you please and you can put it here -- They can legally demand NOTHING from you beyond name/address until a presiding judge is present in a courtroom.
I will happily fight these animals and if need be, I'll end their career. I have taken on cops legally more times than I can count -and won every single time.
hahhahahahhahah that was funny. Fuck you Liberal clowns. If the reporter didnt want to get pushed then she should not have tried to run through the police.
typical of a cop to be a FUCKEN DOG not only is it a woman but theres 4 men(fagget cops) to push 1 lady. i called the cops the other day on 6 kids lighting fires in an industrial estate and after 2 hours of helping them find them out of my time one turned aroung and defected me and gave me a fine. fucken cock sucker hope you drive to hell.
The reporter was trying to get past the police, or was too close. When those police have to deal with THOUSANDS of protesters, I'd like to see how u react. It was a fair use of force. The reporter was obviously too close to the police, and got pushed away. Like the narrator said, "she's ok."
Police abuse appologist. You think like a nazi mate. If the police did their job & arrested the corrupt bankers & polititions we wouldn't be having mass protests. Free your mind mate & take a closer look at the new world order. You need to learn right from wrong!
gutless pigs they shit themselfs one out. glad that cop in qld got bashed by the group of kids ha ha kick the shit out of him ha ha dirty f#*king pigs the only good cop is a dead one ha ha
the truth hurts pig wanna be. the cops are the biggest crims on the planet FACT there all dogs. gutless fucks who hide behind there badge. they supply all the drugs you dickhead they protect dealers and peadophiles FACT
Cops are employed by the state to serve the public. Most of them serve the public only when its convenient for them, and only after they've made sure they served themselves first. In the private sector, if you don't do the job you're supposed to do, you're given the arse. Cops can get away with whatever they want, and have shit all education to do it. What an awsome job.

Paula Bronstein was an accredited APEC photographer and HER JOB was to be there and film. Yet here we have a fool saying she should not have been there?? Wakey wakey - eggs and bakey Einstein. The police who did this deserve to be fired.
The police treated anyone that tried to leave hyde park like that. If you wanted to leave hyde park to go to the toilet, you had to walk 1km around the police blockade. One lady actually went in her pants. There is talk of a class action suit about false imprisonment.
The reason the photography was thrown to the ground, she tried to walk past the police to get photos.
i totally agree, I mean what is the point of freedoms of the press if they are just going to annoying people of lesser intelligence then them. Its simple press.... Copy what the police spokespersons say, and repeat.
Pooh jabbin piggy who has something about others probably, especially woman, and just uses the uniform as an excuse - oops sorry I forgot occams razor
Don't pretend that you're not biased either, Wergs. You clearly have a tainted view of police , so of course you're going to ignore certain points and make up your own mind.
Sure, police brutality is NOT on, and I don't advocate it, I just don't think this is police brutality.
Here's a question that I pose to you guys. Given that police were given instructions to not allow anyone into this area, what methods do you think they should have employed?
Thats the point! you dont think this is police brutality. i think this was excessive use of physical force.
Its good that you also think that police brutality is not on, but answer me this: exactly what has to happen before you start seeing "police brutality"?
to answer YOUR question: Let the young female journalist with the camera take a photo of the police making violent arrests, and if she gets too close, tell her to move back. Don't yell. Certainly don't give a huge push like that.
I think in order for it to be brutality, it has to be excessive force, like you said. I don't see a push to be excessive force. I think it's probably amongst the lowest uses of physical force that could be used.
Tell her to move back? Yeah right. Anyone can tell you that you could have told her to move back until you were blue in the face. She would have kept pushing and pushing to see what she can get away with. That's what the media do. Also, just because that girl was screaming, doesn't make it a violent arrest. From what we can see the girl was simply being restrained by police and led away. I don't see how that's violent in the least.
It's all "from what we can see".. You're basing this whole argument on the 11 seconds of video above.
People who were at the protest and saw this happen will say different because it was violent and excessive. It lasted all WEEK not just 11 seconds of video.
Of course I'm basing it on the video. That's exactly what we're discussing.
And yes, people who were at the protest are going to say different because they're the people who are against the police here. Do you think the police force are going to say that it was violent and excessive? They're both as reliable as each other as a source for this argument.
So all the information we have is based on this 11 second video. The only thing we can rely on is that whatever news team edited this video is trying to make the police force look bad. They're not going to leave out any footage that would support this view and remove footage that is exculpatory. So what we're seeing here is more than likely the worst footage that they could get their hands on. On this evidence, I base my opinion. I don't see restraining someone as a violent arrest.
MerovLite, it doesn't matter what happened before that. These 11 seconds were not justified, were excessive, were the kind of behaviour in which the police should not engage.
If they yelled at her to stay back, so what? If they told her she couldn't take photos (on what grounds?!), so what? None of that excuses the shoving her on the ground the way the footage shows they did.
Interesting. I didn't mention anything about what happened before.
If they told her to stay back, guess what? Then she has to stay back. They're the police, it's the law. No one told her she couldn't take photo's to the best of my knowledge.
And yes, these things justify their actions. Have you read any of the above posts?
She doesn't need permission to take photos. No one needs permission to take photos ever in australia. Even if you don't consent to a photo being taken it can be published. Simple. Its called free press.
your just saying that because im black! i have put up with your racism off line, and when I finish school I want to be a police officer, to give back to my indigenous community. now who is really making the world a better place, its hard enough being a black woman in todays society, but also being young adult that respects Australian law hearing your thoughts about the problems we face, is just a bloody disgrace!
The point I keep making about the APEC protests and alleged police brutality that no-one seems to be able to come up with an answer for is that the police are clearly seen in almost every video maintaining a static line. Now the 'protesters' MUST have done something to incite the police into breaking that line and making arrests. Otherwise, there's no reason for them to do anything other than stand there.
... and of course she is going to grab her head, wouldn't you do the same if you had been pushed like that?!!
Why don't you go to a protest and actually stand up for something, instead of writing pathitic comments at your computer that support violent police?!
And why should I go to a protest like that? I stand for plenty of things, but I don't believe in needlessly harassing police officers. I believe in the law, and I believe that the primary duty of police is to keep people safe.
She ended up on her backside because she put herself in that position. What did she think was going to happen? This edited clip fails to show the warnings she was given!
I WAS AT the APEC protest!!! I SAW THIS HAPPEN with my own eyes and clearly, the photographer was pushed by the police unnecessarily.
She didn't take a dive, provoke them or do anything dangerous or threatening... she was simply taking a photo of the police being violent and acting inappropriately while making an arrest.
$10 says she took a dive. I love the way she clutched at the back of her head like she'd smacked it on the ground, even though she's wearing a backpack and couldn't have hit her head.
You're ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN that's police brutality? Is that the same as you're ABSOLUTELY certain that I'm on welfare and you're ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN that I'm a little shrimp? I'm afraid to say you're wrong on all 3 counts there champ.
Oh dear. So many ignorant people posting these comments.
I WAS AT the APEC protest!!! I saw this happen with my own eyes and clearly, that photographer was mishandled.
The police were there to intimidate, instigate fear and provoke violence - just as this example shows.
The photographer was in no way posing a threat to anyone or ANYTHING, she was simply taking a photo of the police making an unnecessary arrest, using excessive force.
Paula Bronstein was injured and her camera was destroyed by a cop who does not deserve that badge. His behaviour was bloody disgusting. Which bit of THAT is not clear to you sport ? - because it as as clear as a fukkin blue sky to any sane person.
Okay firstly, that cop would of fairly earnt his badge just like any other AUSTRALIAN cop, and secondly dont call me sport. Yes i admit she didnt really deserve to get that smacked up but she was repeatedly told to stay back. She was running around taking photos when she cleary knew that something was going to happen to her-- she was photographing someone getting taken away. How could she not now that she was going get herself into trouble by doing that??
get over it, i was there. the reporters are always trying to break the police lines. 2 people were arrested and 2 cops were injured........yeah real savage. it's worse in other countries.
hahaha that was a good throw you gotta admit

As opposed to, wow, gee, North Korea? Pakistan? Cuba? Half of Africa? Saudi Arabia? I lived in Saudi Arabia for a while, try acting up around their state police force and see what happens? Shit, wear shorts and see what happens? What a stupid thing to say - we have top cops, and they had every right to push that woman - she was acting in a manner that could be considered antagonistic, what if she had a knife? Might sound stupid, but stranger things have happened. KEEP OUR COPS.

Learn the law - intimately.

The reporter was trying to get past the police, or was too close. When those police have to deal with THOUSANDS of protesters, I'd like to see how u react. It was a fair use of force. The reporter was obviously too close to the police, and got pushed away. Like the narrator said, "she's ok."

Cops are employed by the state to serve the public. Most of them serve the public only when its convenient for them, and only after they've made sure they served themselves first. The police treated anyone that tried to leave hyde park like that. If you wanted to leave hyde park to go to the toilet, you had to walk 1km around the police blockade. One lady actually went in her pants. There is talk of a class action suit about false imprisonment.
The reason the photography was thrown to the ground, she tried to walk past the police to get photos.

notice how both hippyfuks AND MerovLite both want to be cops. of course they're gonna stand up for this.
of course their gonna miss the point and stand up for police brutality...
being a cop is what they want to do with their life.
fair enough, the cops have it rough and its a tough job - but police violence, brutality and fear mongering, not just at APEC, is a joke.
WergsSpurgs 4 years ago
Don't pretend that you're not biased either, Wergs. You clearly have a tainted view of police , so of course you're going to ignore certain points and make up your own mind.
Sure, police brutality is NOT on, and I don't advocate it, I just don't think this is police brutality.
Here's a question that I pose to you guys. Given that police were given instructions to not allow anyone into this area, what methods do you think they should have employed?
MerovLite 4 years ago
Thats the point! you dont think this is police brutality. i think this was excessive use of physical force.
Its good that you also think that police brutality is not on, but answer me this: exactly what has to happen before you start seeing "police brutality"?
to answer YOUR question: Let the young female journalist with the camera take a photo of the police making violent arrests, and if she gets too close, tell her to move back. Don't yell. Certainly don't give a huge push like that.
WergsSpurgs 4 years ago
I think in order for it to be brutality, it has to be excessive force, like you said. I don't see a push to be excessive force. I think it's probably amongst the lowest uses of physical force that could be used.
MerovLite 4 years ago
Tell her to move back? Yeah right. Anyone can tell you that you could have told her to move back until you were blue in the face. She would have kept pushing and pushing to see what she can get away with. That's what the media do. Also, just because that girl was screaming, doesn't make it a violent arrest. From what we can see the girl was simply being restrained by police and led away. I don't see how that's violent in the least.
MerovLite 4 years ago
OK fair enough. I still disagree with you though.
It's all "from what we can see".. You're basing this whole argument on the 11 seconds of video above.
People who were at the protest and saw this happen will say different because it was violent and excessive. It lasted all WEEK not just 11 seconds of video.
WergsSpurgs 4 years ago
Of course I'm basing it on the video. That's exactly what we're discussing.
And yes, people who were at the protest are going to say different because they're the people who are against the police here. Do you think the police force are going to say that it was violent and excessive? They're both as reliable as each other as a source for this argument.
MerovLite 4 years ago
So all the information we have is based on this 11 second video. The only thing we can rely on is that whatever news team edited this video is trying to make the police force look bad. They're not going to leave out any footage that would support this view and remove footage that is exculpatory. So what we're seeing here is more than likely the worst footage that they could get their hands on. On this evidence, I base my opinion. I don't see restraining someone as a violent arrest.
MerovLite 4 years ago
MerovLite, it doesn't matter what happened before that. These 11 seconds were not justified, were excessive, were the kind of behaviour in which the police should not engage.
If they yelled at her to stay back, so what? If they told her she couldn't take photos (on what grounds?!), so what? None of that excuses the shoving her on the ground the way the footage shows they did.
anonleft 4 years ago
Interesting. I didn't mention anything about what happened before.
If they told her to stay back, guess what? Then she has to stay back. They're the police, it's the law. No one told her she couldn't take photo's to the best of my knowledge.
And yes, these things justify their actions. Have you read any of the above posts?
questery 4 years ago
She doesn't need permission to take photos. No one needs permission to take photos ever in australia. Even if you don't consent to a photo being taken it can be published. Simple. Its called free press.

hippyfuks 4 years ago
I don't give a shit if you are black, white or a teenage mutant ninja turtle. That is police brutality and it's not on.
xoversightx 4 years ago
The point I keep making about the APEC protests and alleged police brutality that no-one seems to be able to come up with an answer for is that the police are clearly seen in almost every video maintaining a static line. Now the 'protesters' MUST have done something to incite the police into breaking that line and making arrests. Otherwise, there's no reason for them to do anything other than stand there.
MerovLite 4 years ago
... and of course she is going to grab her head, wouldn't you do the same if you had been pushed like that?!!
Why don't you go to a protest and actually stand up for something, instead of writing pathitic comments at your computer that support violent police?!
WAKE UP!!!
WergsSpurgs 4 years ago
I wouldn't have BEEN pushed like that, because I'm not stupid enough to throw myself at a police line.
MerovLite 4 years ago
And why should I go to a protest like that? I stand for plenty of things, but I don't believe in needlessly harassing police officers. I believe in the law, and I believe that the primary duty of police is to keep people safe.

$10 you're an ignorant person.
You ignorant people need to wake up!!!
