hello my name is joseph and i have the same x-540 and i also felt it was missing the bass and i look at the specs and it can power at 75 watts max at 4ohm so i got a 10 inch sub from a car for 10 buck and i had a old sub box and wow it was what was missing all you have to do is unscrew the sub and just run the line from there to the new sub you will love the bas it gives out

What's weird is the x-530 and x-540 are nearly identical as far as specs, just different casing.

@MrTpengineer the only difference i think is the x540 has a downfiring sub, wired controls with the volume, bass knob and the "matrix" button, the x530 has placed the sub on the side and the bass knob on the sub box then the volume and power button is on the right speaker, and you need to connect the 5.1 to 2.1 adapter included just to run the 5.1 speaker "if you dont have a 5.1 soundcard" but all drivers and subs are disame :)

@AlexSpiersTV cant say cause I've never tested them. But if you have Win7 like me it is kind of buggy with the bass going in and out. Mainly if you have the bass redirection feature enabled. I've disabled it and its been great. I think the blame is more on the creative drivers more so than the speakers. You might not run into this issue with the Z506 since they are newer. Hope this helps.

had mine for over 6 months.. if you want to use them for music you need to get audio splitters so you can output 2.1 audio to all the speakers for maximum performance

even tho the z2300 is better ill give u a little secret ive been using with my x240 and x540 which are down firing subs... i trick all my friends by saying i have an 8 inch sub and they believe it but what i did was position the sub in a corner with the hole facing the wall on hard flooring like concrete tile or wood

i hope this changes ppls minds because if you have the sub placed any random place it will sound worse than what it can really do...

i made my frends x240 sound similar to a x530... my made my x540 sound like g51... how just by placement... when i put th hole to a corner the bass is amazing... if you put the x540 on hard floor by a corner you will be surprised. many people just have it any random place kind of like in this vid... dont do that, u wont be happy... put the sub in a corner with the hole facing the wall.... u will be happy...

u can try not to put carpet under ur subwoofer as it absorbs the bass.. without the carpet the bass effect is much better coz it will bounce down the floor.. dats why ,most subwoofer r made facing ground.. jus my opinion =)

I am not sure. It is worth a try I think it may just cause a bit of unwanted vibration but it is worth trying. Also I am not perfectly sure that it does bouce it around but that is what I heard on quite a well informed video review company.
