  • Is that drumhead on bass drum Evans Emad2 ? If yes, what its doing after cut damping ring?

  • " I use DDrum pro triggers and a crappy drumset which doesn't effect anything but my eyes while I'm playing." HAHAHAHAHAHAHA AWESOME

  • Same usual over compressed ball of crap that most modern rock and metal music is. it's a shame that the truly talented rock musicians died out in the 80's. This garbage is what happens when a kid thinks he's an engineer and a "musician".

  • Triggers equals gay! Learn to play!

  • I use only for the bass drum because of false triggering, but adjusting the x-talk, threshold etc... its a pain and sometimes I get double triggering or it will not read all notes

  • My two cents:

1- If you're recording your cymbals in mono, I suggest you to mix your drums also in mono, otherwise the separation between the cymbals and the triggers becomes pretty obvious (there's no consistency in the stereo image)

2- Your room doesn't sound very good... I'd suggest you to record your cymbals in a larger room, or in a sound-proof room with some processing applied to cymbals (mainly, saturation and reverb)

  • So I'm kind of new to drumming *only been playing about a year* and was wondering what exactly drum triggers are? Do they just allow you to "change the sound" of what ever drum they're on when you play? Or..?

  • thats an epic song obscura kicks ass

  • what if you put triggers on the pearl rhythm traveler???? 0__o

  • Hey mate! im looking at doing something similar to this but with a td-6 module. Just wondering if you have tried the ddrum triggers with mesh heads??

  • Hey mate, im looking at doing this setup with a td-6 module. Im just wondering if you have tried these triggers with mesh heads instead of the muffling?? Im curious to see if this works

  • drum triggers sound pretty shitty

  • How did you silence your drums? Does the overhead pick up your toms and snare's natural sound at all?

  • How do the cymbals get triggered? are they acoustics?

  • @MadlyNathan he has regular overhead mics too to blend the sounds.

  • Don't hate me but what exactly are triggers? My dad says their cheating but i don't know exactly what they are.

  • @lethalButters Triggers are a sensor that picks up the vibrations from a hit and sends an electronic signal to whatever it is plugged into (drum brain, computer) and that usually assigns a sound to whatever is hit. The only problem with a lot of triggers is that they are not velocity sensitive, so no matter how hard you hit the drum, you get the same sound.

  • When I search The Superior Drummer: Metal Foundry to buy it, it says it's an expansion pack. Does that mean there's something else I have to buy on top of that? Or can I just buy Metal Foundry and simply install it by itself onto my computer?

  • @Exi7Music were do these triggers connect to a mixer then to a comp

    ?

  • What is that red thing on your toms?

  • @MegaLunaman they are the triggers

  • what are your settings on the IO?

  • Dude that's a sick sounding china, what kind and how big is it?

  • Do you plug the Condensor into the Alesis Module? Thanks.

  • dude, u need 2 practice more, yeah u aren't that bad with your feet, but it just sounds awkward, u could be good though, u really just need some practice

  • Hey! I need your help! What are the settings for the Alesis IO Trigger! I am DESPERATELY NEEDING THOSE SETTINGS PLEASE!!!

  • how are you monitoring?

  • And the point of having triggers on your toms and snare is?

Might as well have an electric kit.

  • @kierensaysmaybe the point is that if u got a "GOOD" drum...that he hasnt...u can put/remove trigger if u want to pratice....i know a lot of drummers that use trigger with mutes on,it's pretty good if u want to study without make alotta noise.

And also if drum sucks..with trigger u can achieve a godly sound..especially with ez drummer...thomas haake setup..

i will trigger only my kick drum because of genre i play :D

  • @kierensaysmaybe You don't have to tune it constantly and it's just mainly a consistence thing.

  • @kierensaysmaybe It's an easier way of recording without having to buy mics (except for overheads) or buying an electronic kit.

  • @kierensaysmaybe So you don't have to waste thousands of dollars on an electric kit and sacrifice a natural feel? Moron.

  • @kierensaysmaybe i think its for the effect of a "perfectly tuned drum set"

  • @kierensaysmaybe What if you want the sound of real cymbals and the feel of a real kit without spending $2000 on a roland ekit. It may not stack up performance wise but if thats what you want there is nothing wrong with it.

  • @kierensaysmaybe It's really just a way to make the kit have a real feel but sound how you want it to without tuning like a normal drummer. Not to mention the price of electric kits.

  • Comment removed

  • @kierensaysmaybe The simplest way to explain why is to say: Why not? You basically get one kit in one. You can switch from el. to ac. whenever you want.

  • @kierensaysmaybe Because, it can change the sound duh! and maybe have you ever thought of this..: Some people might not want an electronic kit!?!? And they think the acoustic ones have a better feeling, and look?!

  • @kierensaysmaybe so that he can record using the crappy acoustic drums he has instead of buying an electric kit?

  • the first part was a warm up (like we all do). those are some damn clean blasts bro. they just didnt watch past 10 seconds

  • This guy is fine, what the fuck are you guys talking about?

  • What a nice set up for a rather pedestrian drummer.

  • Hey I'm a newbie on this :S! Can anybody tell me how do you plug all that stuff together so you can make your drums sound like toontrack?? :S! Help me! haha

  • if you want your drums to sound like a retro keyboard.. just buy one

  • If you're going to muffle the heads that much. just use and electric set

  • Obscura!

  • What are those in your drums? Pillows? :O

  • Triggers and Superior drummer are awesome. Drums sound great. This guy has some double pedal chops. nice. I can't do that. I like how he slips a little free hand technique in there also. I am hoping to get a set up like this soon.

  • @chowin52 I'm hoping you realize you sound like a fool. I will end you via face kick.

  • Can u please help me and tell me what I need to instal drumtriggers I realy want them.

  • my favorite part was 0:00-1:00

  • thumbs up for the desolation of eden tree

  • Your snare sounds fantastic.

  • Sounds nice man ~ funny how all these people thought the random patterns for this demonstration you were throwing were necessarily meant to be on time. Anyone that has anything negative to say about this demonstration like I was saying is 1. Jealous 2. Trolling 3. Tone deaf 4. Inept socially / with timing ( because they're the one with the metronome in their head so that's how they know that you are off time ~ /sarcasm ~ I wrote that for the socially inept fucktards that I mentioned before

  • its not on beat but it does sound pretty awesome

  • such a sick song in the opening.

  • So here's a question. In theory, could you just sit the triggers on buckets and record with good drum sounds? Mainly do they only pick up the fact you're hitting the drum or do they pick up sound as well? I never used them so idk.

  • Is this the DM5 or DM10? And are those triggers xlr or 1/4" output? Trying to figure out how much I have to spend to trigger a 6 piece set.

  • anybody know how to only record the triggered drums. but record the cymbals with my ZOOM Q3 without getting the original sound of the drums?

  • fucking hell. you've got some skills here. i still don't know what these red trigger things do though.

  • Can I use the triggers without muffleing the drum - so i dont need to have a monitor beside me on stage? I have tried with Roland TR10 triggers, but it gave a lot of clocks and noise - i could not adjust me out of it on my drummachine - it´s the roland TD12. Can you help?

  • is it obscura in the beginning?

  • WOW, this is the video i've been looking to answer my questions, so you have an acoustic drum set but you are muting it completely, then you had the alesis io , you connect the triggers to the alesis then the alesis to your pc and you have a software Superior drummer , you configure all that stuff and while you are playing you cant hear your acoustic drumset because its super muffled, and the drum sound comes from your pc? im i right , please answer. keep rocking !

  • Lol I thought your china was a Zil-Bel

  • what china is that

  • Well done Mr 'I've only ever practised my double bass' now buy a fucking metronome and get good!

  • very original

  • Instead of using triggers, most DAW's will allow you to use the waveform to replace the recorded sound with a sample.

  • where is that synth from, what program?

  • soo if i connect triggers to a mixer would i still get sound?? i mean do they work just like microphones or u need a module??

  • @14xgerax you'd need a midi interface/drum module (like the Alesis one here, or drum brain) in order to use triggers on your kit, they essentially turn each drum into an on/off switch (like e.drum pads) triggering the sample when a threshold is reached. So in short yes you need a module

  • So from what I understand is from buying a couple of these triggers is that you can change them to any sound you want...am I correct? But I've been looking for just pintech drum pads kind of like rob bourdon's(Linkin park's drummer) would you know where to find them?

  • learn to hold your sticks man, my ankles hurt from that sight!!

  • I see someone likes Chris Adler :D

  • triggers are good for bass mainly

after this im not not even thinking about them for toms

    never did anyway

  • Nice job! How do u wire up the up the OverHead mic? I'm thinking about getting the same setup as you, but i dont know where to plug in the OverHeads. Is it in the alesis or do you use a second soundcard? I have a PreSonus firestudio project. Maybe plug the alesis in to the PreSonus with a MIDI cable? Thnx!

  • Don't listen to any of those loosers, they're just mad they can't play like you can, great job man :)

  • what china is that? size and make...if u dont mind....

  • @kben68 You can get the ddrum kick trigger and plug into any module for live stuff. It's very easy then for the sound person to get a better kick sound by either using the module alone, or mixing in the kick mic with the sampled kick sound.

  • The way you have everything plugged in is something i need help with. Is it from the trigger to alesis trigger midi i/o with xlr mics, then into the computer with SP 2.0?

  • all the triggers in the world cant match the sound from bonham in the 70s..tune your kit and use mikes. this sounds utter crap..should call them click drums instead of bass drums

  • what heads are those?

  • A triggered sample is taken from the highest end kit recorded with the highest end mics in high end studios in perfect isolation (Especially with easy and superior drummer). You will never get as tight and as good a sound live micing your kit. Trust me!!!

  • PLEASE READ! i like playing screamo like A Day To Remember, what should i get to get faster and better. cause i like spaz when i try to go fast. and i do practice but i cant get it. like the really fast beats on the pedal like at 1:20 , 1:22 , and so on. any help? thanks! :)

  • @Burton910h It's all practice. There is no magic pedal to make you faster. An Axis or a Pearl Demon Drive is not actually doing much more to help you. I know everyone is going to whine now, "the ergonomics are better...it's smoother...the shaft has zero-latency." No. Speed does not come from tensing up and spazzing out while trying to play faster. Grab a metronome and set it as slow as you can tolerate, nothing over 80 bpm. Concentrate on staying relaxed at this slow tempo and work your way up.

  • @Burton910h A day to remember is not screamo there is no such thing as screamo just some stupid as stereo typical thing dumbasses made up

  • wrists are COMPLETELY STIFF.

  • When you use triggers all it shows is you can't tune a bass drum. Nuff said

  • @1004abcD0953S741F Thats totally wrong my sonor 3007 sounds fuckin´ awesome with evans a emad on it but with faster speeds it sounds like shit when you´re recording! I was against triggers before but you must understand the fact that it improves the sound not speed! Triggering the whole kit is a little bit gay but when your plan to make a funky song or whatever it can be alot of fun! For me i´m buying a ddrum trigger set with the alesis dm5 and make some fun with my band xD!

  • I don't like triggers when they're used for fast double bass in metal, because you can't add any dynamics to the notes, ie playing louder or softer depending on what you need for the piece.

  • makes it look so simple.. rofl

  • hey guys this is just a demonstration of what are triggers so relax ! anyways this dude is not bad at drumming

  • even with triggers u still suck

  • @LosersAndaCamera That's rude and fucked up. He came humble, just tryna show something about triggers. He never claimed he's good, so save that hatred.

  • @LosersAndaCamera fuck u hes fuckin great at drums.ied like 2 see u play that shit asshole!go shit in ur hand

  • @LosersAndaCamera Triggers dont make drumming any easier. They change the sound. Asshat.

  • @ForsakenGround You still don't have to put out as much power with triggers though, dude.

  • @LosersAndaCamera shut the fuck up asshole/troll fuckin cry more hater

  • @LosersAndaCamera triggers don't make you better ...

  • @LosersAndaCamera Cmon man, he's not bad. He's not professional but whatever.

  • @LosersAndaCamera give him credit for trying

  • deep shit

  • some triggers can help your playing by alot, they make the skin alot more reactive so its not really full blow blasting the bass pedals like people had to before triggers.

  • Okay so I am trying to get good sounding drums for recording. I have superior drummer 2.0 and am still trying to figure it out with cubase. I am new with drum triggers and I guess what I was to know is if you can use triggers to just replace drum sounds, which I was assuming is the whole point. If so, does that mean I can just buy the necessary triggers and the alesis trigger i/o and run it through superior drummer so when recorded into my computer I will just hear the superior drummer drums?

  • @ownernage pretty much. It will record only midi into cubase. The cymbals and hi hat cause a bit of an issue when triggered, so I mostly record the real cymbals and use the triggers on the kick/snare/toms. I also record the real snare to use as a reference because sometimes the triggers miss some ghost notes, or double trigger. You can also mix in some of the real snare with the superior - if you wish.

  • Obscura! great music choice =]

  • i wanna trigger my drums, but are the triggers and the alesis i/o all you need?

and can you connect the alesis i/o to your computer via usb?

  • hey man

can u tell me how are u connecting the triggers ?

    i mean to a mixer through interface , or interface ,, ??

does it record midi or live ?

    plz plz plz tell me

  • Hey can you use ddrum triggers in drumagog? someone help me out I'd really apreciate it !

  • @Voheezy you can record the actual audio output from the triggers onto an audio track and then use drumagog, or drumtracker (from toontrack) to trigger any sample you wish. The waveform will look sort of like an EKG.

  • i like it..LOLzz

  • do i need a drum brain, or can i use an audio interface?

  • sorry what are triggers i still dont undrstand

  • @Reesekoenig

ok, so you know the e-drumsets right? so putting drum triggers on your drum set is like making it an e-drumset. The drum triggers get each hit and send it to the brain, a brain like the ones the e-drums use, then you connect that brain to an interface via midi (midi isnt audio, i hope you know what midi is, if you dont i encourage you to do some research), then you use a program like superior drummer or addictive drums to select the sound of each drum (not the cymbals).

  • @Reesekoenig

that way you save yourself some time because you dont have to mic everything up, and you save money because you dont have to buy preamps for the mics or anything, except for the overhead mics, but you could use a mixer for that. You can get professional-sounding drums with this method, often used in metal.

    hope that helped

  • i'd get practising how to do blasts properly...

  • @SexEdRocksFTW Whats the easiest way t just record the midi information, I know hes using the sounds of easy drummer so can you just go straight from the moduel into the computer? or do you need an interface? If so could you just go straight into the interface seeing as they have 1/4 inch jack inputs and also XLR interfaces for the more expensive triggers.

  • Im curious, are you able to record to Logic using these drum sounds in MIDI Thats what Im interested in doing, Also what module do you use? you need one Im guessing, Im wanting to trigger a kit i have and record exercises in midi. Hope to hear back soon!

  • *IMPORTANT* I recently bought a ddrum kick drum trigger and the Alesis I/O. They are both shipping right now but I need to know if that is all I need to trigger the kick, In other words I am saying is that I don't need to buy anymore or what? Also to create sound can I use a guitar amp? I'm new to this trigger thing...Please Help!!!

  • What China is that? It sounds fucking gorgeous!!!

  • @JackFriedRice wuhan/diamond they changed there name recently just search wuhan chinas, if your from the uk I can link you a shop :)

  • @perfectdisasterband Link me please :) Whats the size and name of the China?

  • Obscura *_*

  • triggers=shit....

  • buy a metronome.

  • @sarahxlou28 ya dude realy

  • @sarahxlou28 Buy a personality.

  • usually triggers sound like crap, but this sound really good!!

  • ahhhh! the sound of triggers on a base drum! make me jizz D:!!!!

  • I have the Alesis DM5 with Ddrum triggers and Hart mesh heads, and I would like to find out what settings or "parameters" everyone is using like gain, velocity curve ect.

Because im having lots of problems with accuracy like miss hits. The DM5 cant keep up with my rolls and fills. Even on fast single stroke rolls its missing hits, and forget about any buzz rolls.

Ive been messing with the settings for a while now and cant find anything solid, its im frustrating help me how set up module

  • @kingofbooze The Alesis I/O trigger module is where its at. Check out videos of the DM5 w/ the Alesis I/O or just the I/O and a PC running superior drummer. Have you tried using mesh heads?

  • WHY BREAKDOWWWWNS???????

  • drumming isnt about speed, which you have. work on actually playin a beat

  • @JeffreyDrumpants totally agree. i hate when ppl have speed but no musicality. its just annoying

  • @dilloppy333 exactly

  • all i can say is, poser.. yeah you have potential, but u dont show musical talent.

  • wait. someone please help me out. so first you trigger your drums(which are muffled), and then you hook those up to a speaker, then you use a camera to record it? and you dont trigger the cymbals? PLEASE RESPOND

  • @MonsterEatingBoy triggered cymbals are shit........ you just trigger the actual drums then mic the cymbals....

  • @SexEdRocksFTW im confused on how you mic, what does the mic plug into, then what do you use to record it? if you know please help me out a little

  • You plug the mics into your recording interface which goes into the computer. Using a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) software you can then program what channels you want to go where. Press record and you're done. @Exi7Music uses a drum module from an electric kit that connects via midi to his interface to get the tom, kick and snare sounds. The 2 overhead microphones pick up the whole kit to give it a real sound.

    Hope this helps :)

  • you are dangerous

  • so if you won't use triggers, your drum won't make that much sound due to being muffled am i correct? could you do a demo video showing how much sound created acousticly without using triggers? (by using the mic of your camera)

  • okay, im really confused on where the mic was plugged in for the recording and how u have all this set up, im new to the trigger recording stuff

  • floppy bass playing. Nothing more to add.

  • Thanks for this video, dude. Your info got us to tweak and fix all the little loose ends on our setup and I can be 100% sure that all our drummers will be very happy!

    \m/^_~\m/

  • what china do you use?

  • I'm using ddrum triggers through an alesis dm5 and can't seem to configure it so that fast rolls on the snare and toms are triggered properly, only a few hits go through. I've dampered the drums with paper towel taped to the skins and tuned them really tight but still have problems I also increased the sensitivity in the module any suggestions D:?

  • what module did you use cant you help me whit the gain xtalk noise od each drum if you have the alesis dm5

  • Is there a wire coming off one of your cymbals?

  • The bass drum and the patterns really get me. So choppy and clean

  • You should've kept that synth breakdown going from 3:34 on! Shit was awesome for that little bit of time...

  • WOW

i wish i had the money to do this

  • @speedmetaldemon666 me too...

  • which drum module are you using? or is it just the program youre using on your computer?

  • @DevilsRadioOFFICIAL he showed it at the beginning of the video.

it was the Alesis Trigger I/O I have a similar set up my self, but use Battery 3 as I have more control over the drum samples

    .

  • this is pure cheating! Learn to tune your drums man!

Triggering the bassdrum is necessary when you are playing extreme fast !

  • @Kevinkoch2443 you're just saying that because you can't afford it. It's only cheating if you put triggers and you record your parts connect the triggers to a mixer or interface to a computer quantize your drums and then play over your recorded track and it will auto correct that's too much work! Triggers r good if u wanna be able to hear what your playing as a drummer because that happens a lot with the bass drum.

  • @Braskasfinalaeon37 lol i can afford it! But when i would buy a trigger, i would just trigger my bassdrum but mine sounds good so i don´t need one! Without the triggers his set sounds horrible i think!

  • How are the ddrum triggers holding up? It's been over a year and wondering what problems you may of had with them (falling apart or false hits).

  • Haha Wow I thought triggers were only to change the sound of the drums? haha I didn't know you could play tunes on them as well Triggger do rock then but not for playing with music in covers cause IMO I like to hear the sound of my drums

  • He played obscura in te beginning. ,!,, If that's not real metal, then i'm a poser who doesn't even know his music. and i mind you i listen to every fucking genre and am refined in every. He has a taste in music. but i gurantee he made this video with zero enthusiam after all the work to get them sounding right. so get a life, stop talking shit on youtube to make yourself feel better, I admire the sound you get out of this setup though. i gotta try it. XD

  • wtf was that shit playing at the start how can anyone like that crap know wonder all the kids are dick heads there sittin there banging there head to that shit and all there brain juices are swashing around..

  • kid u suck keep practicing n listen 2 sum real metal

  • @zw246 dude shut the fuck up and prove that you can do better and until you do so stop fucking telling people that they suck when you probably suck even more OK so fuck off !!!!! fag

  • @Underoath1011 hahah i can play double storkes with my feet u cant even play in time

  • @zw246 still ur learning, now u might be able to play them cause this was in 2009 :P

  • Cool! Triggers are great for easy live micing, and easy recording. I use them live and its better than using microphones that cost 200. apiece, and have to run cords and mix everything. Its like plug and play.

  • @Exi7music hey I was thinking about purchasing these. Cud you explain it to me? Where do all the cables connect, and how do you actually get the samples?

  • i love your bass pedals! :D
