wow russian alphabet got so much influence from is surounding country ...you can hear close prononciation or sound like .... i love russian i want to learn more lolll
unbreakable union of freeborn republic great Russia has welded forever to stand, created in struggle by will of the peoples, united and mighty our soviet union!
Thank you so much for making this wonderful video! It is fun to have the Russian spellings at the left. I pause the video and try to sound them out before you say them or look to the phonetic English spelling. This is fun for me.
Zdravsvoytye! 3:50 I've never really understood the "Drordiznak". All I've heard is that is separates the word to be pronounced apart in one word.
Second, 4:01 on the "Myerzhiznak", all I've heard is that is makes the letters sound softer. What is the difference between spelling "Mouse" (Pa Rusky) with and without the "Myerzhiznak"?? How would "Mouse" be pronounced without the "Myerzhiznak"?
@FashionRawkz3:50 - "Tvyordiy znak" ("firm sign") separates the word apart, example "подъезд" ("porch") with tvyordiy znak will be pronounced as "pod-ezd" and without tvyordiy znak as "po-dezd" (and that's not right).
"Myagkiy znak" ("soft sign") makes the letters sound softer and sometimes uses only in writing. "Mouse" means "мышь" ("myish", "mouse"), but even with or without "myagkiy znak" pronunciation will be the same.
This may be a dumb question, but is there a definite way to write Russian words using the English alphabet? Or should I just use the phonetic spelling until I memorize the these letters? What does everyone else do?
@ButterflyChiChi not really just use the romanization like - vee nagrad.
its used so we can pronounce each word. The Russians don't use the
latin alphabet with the exception of the letters that Look like english but pronounced differenlty. you just have to learn that the wierd looking A has a D sound & the P
has an R sound. you should get Global writer, that would Help
@fifi4m10d ш is a soft "sh" (softer than in english - think shushing a baby), whereas щ is a hard "sch", and sounds more or less just like the english "sh".
this was actually quite helpful, i hope im not too american to learn this language haha, but do you think learning the alphabet first is tha best way to learn this language?
Its a great lesson, but, I still need a little help... I didn't understand how to pronounce the letter at 3:45, and the letter at 3:59. Is it kind of accentuation? Because, for example, at the word " MISH' " there's an H + ' and there's a little accentuation on the letter M. But on the first word , Апельсин , that letter - ь , expressed as a kind of an L...
@NukiCherrys Hi! Letter "tverdiy znak" (3:45) gives a preceding consonant a hard sound, and letter "myahkeey znak" (3:59) makes a preceding consonant very soft, like you see in examples in the video. I hope this helps.
@NukiCherrys the soft sign (myahkeey znak) shows you that u have to pronounciate the L softly like the "l" from "Anima"l" , its the french L they say ;)
the hard sign ( tvordey snak) shows you, you have to speak it hard out so you can't hear the (j or s sounds in the words)
@funrussian Мыло это также слэнг от английского эмэил. И еще есть опЕра - хроники убойного отдела. Ещё есть интернет браузер Опера. Таким образом слова начинают терять свое значение. Выражение мыльная опера пришло из английского в русский. А мыло оно и есть мыло это такая твердая фентифля, которой моют тело.:))))))
Thank you for the Russian alphabet video! Although I have seen other videos you have posted, I am definitely at step 1 and have been waiting for this video!
