  • why in the hell would you start a positive pressure ventilation in place when u dont know whats going on inside? thats just blowing more oxygen in for the fire to burn

  • what the fan for?

  • @xXBirDEXx125 Ventilation.

  • @xXBirDEXx125

    positive pressure attack

  • Setting the fan in before making the attack?

  • good stop and good use of PPV. but look out for those powere lines

  • RIG PLACEMENT !!!! don't park under the power lines ( 2:44 )

  • Really do you wear your seatbelt rollin to a fire.......? I thought so

  • @bmillerexplorer Yep, and I'm not moving the engine if you don't have yours on.

  • what kind of truck do yall got

  • awesome quality for a helmet cam

  • all but the sound. The image quality is really good.

  • Forgot to add always make sure you know who is in there and exactly where the fire is, like notafraidoffuture said , if it goes tits up it will give the fire a big gulp of air and cook everyone inside it.

  • we use PPV here in the UK to great effect, but nearly all our properties are brick built. Great reaction by you guys, no panic, just concentrated on the job in hand. Good job

  • there is a department by me that always uses ppv and it never fails that the fire always ends up in the roof.

  • PPV application can be tricky. It has it's time and place. You cannot roof vent a fire on the 2nd floor of an 11 story high rise. You can however push a fire back on itself. Size up is the key and haveing the attack line ready. Thermal cams help these days too since you can see the hidden fires moving through the walls. Good job to this crew again on looking calm and professional. Lastly, cameras are not our enemys. Ignorance and denial are.

  • You make your reputation for the rest of your career in the first 6 months. BUST YOUR ASS for the first year and NEVER COMPLAIN ABOUT ANYTHING!!!

  • Sorry, someone else already caught that. Good job on the fire. You guys were very calm, no yelling, no overdramatization for the helmet cam etc. Rare to be able to go offensive in such a remote response.

  • Yeah, first step: Take "Probie" out of your name. Step two: Just follow the guys around you, you'll do fine. Step three: learn your shit on the engine. If somebody asks for the 8 ft pike pole you sure as shit better know where it is. Good luck man.

  • they way i see it helmet cams are great i have one and wish i could get good video like this and if someone sues me over me wanting to record what i see thats wrong of them

  • Great vid, reminds me of the fire we had last week, stay safe out there.

  • i think these cameras a great for training but someone is going to get sued when somene records a accident scene

  • That's why they come with a 'delete' button! ...or at least, they should!

  • hopefully everyone is smart enough to realize when something does not need to be shown

  • LOL, we can only hope.

  • You can create a 5 mph positive pressure vent by opening a door/window on each side of the structure. With the fan you can add additional force to vent the residence. This allows for you to attack and see inside the structure to get a better assessment.

  • not only that, but once you use a positive pressure fan, you need to be ready to fight some fire, for the simple reason that you are going to be adding fuel to the fire i.e. oxygen. I like your assesment FFGJACKSON.

  • I dont agree that you are adding oxygen. If the fire is already burning. Its got the right O2 already to burn. Granted there is going to be an increase in intensity for a bit but Its a proven act that works well. Can it go wrong. Of couse it can. But can crawling on a roof to vent go bad. Sure it can. Anyway I am rambling. Main thing to learn. is you cannot add o2. 11 percent o2 in the air. If you force 11 percent o2 in the room you still have 11 percent. I think thats whats in the air...

  • it is actually 21% o2 in the air not 11 but anyway i see your point.

  • I have a question. At around 5 minutes it looks like he set up a big fan/blower. Why would you set it up to blow air into the house to feed the fair oxygen, wouldn't you want it to pull air away from the fire? I don't know anything about firefighting, but Im going to the fire academy here in Reno in the Spring Semester. Cant' wait to join the ranks with you guys.

  • Its called Positive Pressure Ventilation. Think of blowing up a balloon. The balloon being the structure. The fan increases the interior pressure inside the structure. Now if you take a pin and put a small hole in the balloon the air will escape. That's what happens when you open a door or window while the fan is blowing. It evacuates the smoke and heated gases. The trick is to know when to apply this method safely during a fire.

  • what firemanbif said.. if done wrong it can cook the guys inside

  • More importantly it can cook any possible victims in situations where they might actually be viable. Usually best to locate the fire first, make an exit close by it then start the fan. We usually start the fan and turn it sideways until an exit is open near the fire. If the fire is already vented go for it!

  • Very well done ... most realistic video of interior attack. Although a little long in the beginning

  • Just remember though guys, don't ever freakin try this at home. These guys knew what they were doing, so don't try this recording shit at home. Last thing any fire fighter wants to read is someone died in a fire, I know....

  • Very nice, I'll have to do this on my next Structure Fire

Company 3 Montville: ChesterField Fire Co.

  • dont use a helmet cam while in the truck, makes you feel sick, well the watchers. or set the camera on the dash.

  • 00:32 SEATBELT?

  • ah hah... you caught that too.

  • @newt1972 Okay we all know its the law to wear a seatbelt, but lets be realistic here, Im not sure if you are a firefighter or ever have been, but the last thing on your mind is a seatbelt. Most apparatus currently being made now have a system where the seat will know you are on it and the apparatus will not start until you are buckled in.

  • nice.

  • nice take down!

  • In a Hollywood movie you can see inside of a fire. What happened here? haha Hollywood wouldn't sell any seats in theaters if they showed what really goes on and what we all have to endure.

  • in hollywood, the fire is so bad, it is all fake, and if you notice, in movies they dont even spray the fire lol

  • Cool video..was that house in the middle of no where or what? LOL

  • which cam do you use?

  • excellent video, looks like you guys made a good knock down inside!

  • awesome video

  • Looks like you guys made a good stop on the fire, nice work
