you guys have to understand here, that you need long flexible fingers for this piece, its incredibly long and diverse, its amazing that she can even follow up to this.
Something tells me that she was beaten until she could play all those songs...
By the way, I dont really get the point of little children playing these songs, they all are going to grow up anyway and play the same songs but with more expression and more emotion thats just the basics there.
@fleeb747 eh, I would disagree, I mean she plays rachmaninov and prokofiev and such now, which is more challenging by far--and damn, she does an awesomoe job

Love this little angel! Wow....She has several videos since 2007 (when she was 9), and all are superb. She's incredible! I keep wondering her last name and where she's from, to track her career. I wish her success and joy in everything she does. What an amazing little doll...
@Castifae It is easy to fall into this trap but please don't. Students like this often spend a lot of hours of practice per week and usually have the best teachers. The most important thing for a piano student and/or performer is that you love and enjoy music and that you want to communicate something to the audience. The rest is about a lot of practicing and dedication. At the end when everyone is already grown up it is not about who did this at this or that age but about artistry.

Granted that, in technical aspects, classical music is much more difficult, and is an essential building block if one wishes to excel. Formalities, however, are elitist pretenses that give beautiful music the exterior of a boring stuffy art form. Modern musicians write and play with their own style in mind, and are not drones of a corroding dated system; that is why I support the need for any talented musician to be exposed to modern music, and to stop going through out-dated motions.
That's wierd that you say that, because I'm a music major at university studying classical vocal performance. Believe me, I don't object to the content, its merely the pretentious presentation that art music is burdened by that I object to.
@250mxrider nope, not at all, she does seem to have practiced a lot, you know, the more pieces i hear played by 5-8 year olds the more i think that they should actually try to hear the music, they seem to be like robots playing piano, it's weird
I think we are bumping into the Taiwan, or Dalu, Mainland China problem. Rachel is from Taiwan. But she is a fantastic young piano performer regardless.
what is poor about a child who is dedicated and passionate? what about children who spend hour playing videogames to beat a record, or those who work hard to be good for their soccer team, or those who study dance or singing? The idea that children want to play with stupid toys even if they know what their passion in life is, is just ridicolous. Not to mention the hypocrisy of those who bash piano playing and then make their children life miserable with excessive homeworks, chores and such
Very nice! And I don't understand the commotion about whether she is playing it or not. This delay in sound happens in lots of Y/T vids. Please look at her other videos before making dumb assumptions :)
A lot of YouTube videos have video-audio unsynchronized. Some of my videos have done that, when I know they were synchronized on my computer before uploading. This is, however, a very unusually long delay. Other videos on this channel of her playing make it obvious she does really play. I believe that some glitch occurred, whether it's YouTube, or our computers, or yw1935's software, or whatever. She can clearly play piano, and very well too. Watch some of her other videos, if you don't believe.
She wasn't born with an awesome sound, we just developed it, with the same dedication and work that would require an older person to develop it. No one is born with talent, when we're born we're just tabula rasa and empty and we can become whatever thing we want according to what will strike a chord in us in life. No one found "talent" in our genes, because there isn't any. Talent is developed day by day, it doesn't exist on its own as something inside the blood or the genes or what not
I believe that people are born with the potential. Scientists are not in complete agreement as to how much it due to environment and how much is due to genes. Environmental factors do play a part in perfect pitch though, because there is a greater frequency of its occurence with those that speak tonal languages-latest discovery . But how do you explain Aimi Kobayashi who played like a consummate artist after one year training, taking into consideration neither parent plays the piano?
Aimi is all the more remarkable because according to developmental experts, children are not properly coordinated or have attention spans at 4 or 5 years, enabling them to equal performances of seasoned masters or legends.
Pianist Dimitris Sgouros memorized "Rachmaninoff 3rd" in 3 days at 12 years. His debut in Carnegie Hall was rated one of the greatest of the century. Neither parent knows a note of music. I would say that his case is more genetic or God-given than environmental. Today, Dimitris has memorized every piece in the Literature of the piano!! He has photographic memory and other umbrella abilities. People are born with greatly differening potential, according to their callings.
I think I have a good memory as I remember everything in little time, but I think I tapped into the secret of memorization. Memorization too, is about trying to memorize the challenging spots, and forgetting about the rest. In a poems usually we can remember 95% of what we read the first time, but there's a 5% which compromises the 100% of the effort. If you just learn that 5% you'll learn the whole thing. But must people repeat over and over the irrelevant 95% day after day.
children are smarter than older kids and adults in my opinions, cause in their spontaneity they're more likely to find the truth about the world and things around them, their intelligence is of the deductive type without any sort of filter, while the intelligence of more grown people is more of the "notionistic" kind and even their deduction is always filtered by some ideology or pre-existing belief. This is true of science too as Born, a physicist, noted, which is far from being objective.
I believie in the Pareto Principle which states that to every skill there's a 20% "vital few" and 80% "trivial many". I even believe that within that 20% there's maybe a 1% of "key to everything". What I mean is that when you discover this key, when you discover the unique principle underlying a whole concept, something click in your mind and everything makes sense like never before. I believe many people spend years with the "trivial many" while they just need to tap into the "vital few"
I once talked with a teacher and he was sure that he knew what the "key" that made everything clear was. With his system he had whatever child learning a Bach invention in one week, without earlier training. According to an analysis, in most pieces there are a couple of sections that determine the difference between learning or not the piece. Most people would keep learning and playing the easy parts they already know, but that teacher would focus his students on the few "hard" bars
I like the marvelleous interpretation of this work. This young lady reflects the personality of Beethoven and the character of this piece. You also can hear the shocking indignation, the impetuosity, the temper tantrums, the power and the beauty all over the rage of a lost penny. She also has chosen an appropriate speed which lends itself to such interpretation. I keep coming back to this piece. It is my favorite among others.
That stool is obviously too high for her! She was barely even sitting, her feet had to reach(almost stand) for the pedal! They should've done something to help her.
I think thius must have something to do with Youtube converting the clip top some format that they have made a standard because I have noticed the same thing with my own and many other contributors' clips.
i was wrong(pedal is included in rondo a capriccio),but you still using your pedal too much-your using it all the time ,but in rondo a caprriccio is small using of pedal
she has small hands and can't always make legato with just the hands and need to use the pedals, wich is what all pianists with not big hands do; pedalling and chords rolling
What did she wipe the keys before she played?

Very fine interpretation. I also like to watch her tiny hands.
This video is out of sync. A simple workaround: Download the video.
Copy the contents from flv into a mp4 container: No quality loss.
ffmpeg -i Rx.flv -vcodec copy -acodec copy Rx.mp4.
Because ffmpeg ... -itsoffset ... or ... -delay ... doesn't work,
start MPC, Option, Audio, Audio switcher, set Audio time shift to -2500.
Restart MPC, looks better.

I'm learning this song... I'm only about halfway through and I got it two months ago for Christmas. I really love it! :)

In tune

WOW! WHAT A TALENT!
How long have you been playing piano?
I've been playing for three and a half years, and I'm thirteen years and I'm learning this piece.

It´s not timing, she pretends she´s playing piano in the beginning, like playing golf.
...
Nice job Rachel! I love your videos! <3

Because Youtube fails.

I think it's a YoutTube problem or it's a duet (That's unlikely).

Why do people keep criticizing a young girl? You have to be a loser to sit at your computer and criticize other people all day.

i was wrong(pedal is included in rondo a capriccio),but you still using your pedal too much-your using it all the time ,but in rondo a caprriccio is small using of pedal
very small
KEUDER 3 years ago
she has small hands and can't always make legato with just the hands and need to use the pedals, wich is what all pianists with not big hands do; pedalling and chords rolling
OvoPiano 2 years ago
you must achieve better legato without pedal.
Cuz with pedal is a mess:(.
Bernard
constructive critisism;):)
KEUDER 3 years ago
hey again,i commented your ballade too
without pedal
Rondo a capriccio is without pedal for legato!!!
god bless you
