ear players looks like for me ,captain who doesn't have map and compass in open ocean,they can go but they dont know where they going.Players with note who has map and compass..:))

Thanks for the explaination. I can go either as an ear player or read the notes, one thing I do, is if I know the melody note, but not the chord, I just put my middle finger on the note (an octave down) and then drop my pinky and thumb, and I know it harmonizes. Since its a third and sixth to the melody note. Your videos are very informitive.

I'm an ear player, and I don't do this. I understand the concept, but to be honest I've never had to think about it, i just know what chord comes next, what interval to move to etc

All of the people who play by ear exclusively have a great gift. One of my friends plays by ear and hasn't the slightest idea what chords he is playing. Gregg Isett, the other half of this teaching combo, took lessons for 7 years before he ever saw a note of music.....he was learning to accompany silent movies. This video is for the note readers so that they can expand their horizons and play by ear. Thanks for your input.
