  • Seems only useful if you need a nice clean cut on a very little piece of wood. Any of those little sticks that you cut I could break 3 times the size with the heal of my boot in a second. Not practical. You'll die out there with that little saw!

  • very well done! thumbs up!

  • Good explanation, but still, I prefer my folding saw! It cuts a branch in a second, with less effort, and it's more durable.

  • thanks a million wolfmaan for sharing this valuable knowledge, will come in very handy.

  • Seems kinda pointless to me though. It's really slow and looks like a lot of effort. Those pieces of wood could've been chopped in 3-4 strikes of that knife in a fraction of the time.

  • just like that, just like this ...

  • turning that into a bow saw was a good idea.

  • this knife rocks man

  • Thanks for the tip. I haven't tried the bow saw method. I always like to keep one in the car. I really need to add one to my pack, though it seems like I break them almost every time. I've been looking at one that harbor freight has that looks almost like a chain saw. It's kind of expensive so I haven't picked one up yet.

  • Nice job

  • nice vid. i never thought of using it as a bow saw.

  • Thanks for the vid bro! I Like the wire saw! May have to trade in my home made hand chain saw for one of these! Subbed!

  • Nice job on the video,Good tip on not letting it heat up. I cut through a small bone and allowed mine to heat up, the saw is still useable but, it has a small coil in it now.

  • Good tip with the bow saw, wouldn't have thought to do that myself. Trying to use these by holding the tiny rings can really start to hurt your fingers, so this idea would make it much easier for sure. I'm still a Saw-vivor fan myself though :)

  • Great little tool to have! Love the teepee! Thanks for sharing, Be safe.......JP.

  • Great video! You are tripping me out being dressed warmly and no shoes! I subbed.

  • fab vid, thank you:)

  • Absolutely brilliant! You have a lot great ideas :)

  • educational vid.

  • Great video!!!

  • Great Video, You Have Earned Your Self A New Subscriber :)

  • Whats the knife you use?

  • @dustinml14 Ka-Bar Leather Handled Tanto #1264

  • i like it

  • That looks alot like your dog from your videos. Beautiful friend you have there. Subbed and really enoy your videos my friend, you do a great job and I find it very interesting with all the history you work into them. Take care and have a great day buddy.

  • Nice job man. I wonder if you would consider (for academic purposes) exchanging the calories spent constructing the bow saw and sawing with it for the calories spent carrying a regular folding saw (like the Bob Dustrude model) and cutting with that more efficient tool? Just a thought... -MK

  • the Bow Wire Saw It's a good Tips!!!

  • The energy you exerted making, and using that saw was a lot more than just chopping through it with a blade...

  • Thank you sir for your clip

  • how often do they break?

  • @TheBeatleLoversThree It depends on the quality of the saw. This make and model does not break easily. Like many of the previous comments, I would not use this as my only source of cutting, but they are great when you have nothing else.

  • I recommend you use the saw on your Leatherman or Swiss Army knife, it will be quicker and easier.

  • Great video! I don't use these type of saws myself. It seems to me that to same cuts can be accomplished using far less energy using a blade, the folding saw I use, or by breaking. I did chuckle a bit as you said "A lot less effort than I would have normally had to use" between deep breaths.

  • Wolfmaan, that's a pretty cool saw - I think it would have its uses even outside of nature.

Glad to see you barefoot too! I tell you, shoes hurt my feet in more ways than letting them be bare ever has.

  • nice to see another barefooter who is not afraid of the elements!

i too bundle up in winter.

    check out my vids also.

  • 2:18 The natural gift of the forest was chainsawed down a few years ago...

'Comments may be held for uploader approval.' Seriously? Are are that insecure about what peoples comment? Man the fuck up.

  • Cool video!!!

  • Wow... beeping at the beginning.. pretty annoying, =(

  • Wonderful video. I love the NATO style wire saw as well as the miriad of outdoor saws I use. I though, am a footwear man. The closest I get to footbare would be trekker sandals! I even wear moccasins in the house! (too many miles in combat boots).

    Keep doing videos young feller!

  • Nice demonstration--neat tool! And good job with the bare feet as extra hands/tools. Just another positive reason to keep 'em bare!

  • Great to see bare feet in action. I'm a full time barefooter as well. Yes, a great saw for tight places. I've used this type saw to cut pvc pipe in very close quarters - where there was no way to reach with a solid blade. Just take your time and let the saw work at an easy pace.

  • Never liked the string saw. Even this one does not impress me.

  • great video, as an outdoors man my self I have used these saws. PS I am glad to see a fellow bare footer on video. It is nice to feel nature under foot when camping.

  • great video, as an outdoors man my self I have used these saws. PS I am glad to see a fellow bare footer on video. It is nice to feel nature undwr foot when camping.

  • COOL ! Hahaha , your awesome ! Love the Wig Wam ! and the saw

  • Hi Wolfman- get vid- glad to see that you are bare foot. I am a full time barefooter & having to have a certain kind of shoes is another thing I will not be stopped by in a survival situation.

  • ...I get it, so why then are they included ? You can post a POV vid so superfluous details are omitted if ur worried. just sayin'... great vids!

  • good video

  • I have to agree on it not being good for survival, however if it was all you had.....

  • Nice demo....

  • Thanks for sharing!

    Great video

  • ...but it is relevant. Demonstrating survival skills is great, I did comment I liked the vids and maybe you just glossed over my comments...jjust sayin'

  • @veinspect Perhaps your perception that shoes are necessary is just that - a perception.

  • @veinspect Thank You for watching! I review every comment on each video. I live my life without shoes, and that seems to challenge people, and I'm okay if people do not understand.

  • just weird 2 me...considering weather conditions ... seriously why wear heavy clothing and go barefoot? can't wrap my tiny little brain around that one...just sayin' it doesn't scream out "SURVIVAL" to me.

  • I prefer to use using the boxing style of back and forth to cut 3 sides at once. I also don't use the fingers in the rings, I place sticks in the rings for "T" handles (it's much easier on the fingers)

  • Hello love, I thank you, from my heart. And I love love love your video, keep up the good work. Happy New Year! Love Love Love, Mr.Happy! AND YOU KNOW THIS LOVE!

  • You are pinching your blade everytime you make a cut, which will result in a broken blade. make sure that as you cut, the tension of the wood isnt pinching the saw. Just like with a chainsaw. And that big as knife of yours should be better to cut those small limbs. Good idea for the bow saw.

  • you could have broke that branch with your foot man

  • that would be great for a pocket survival kit or a minimalist kit

  • A good folding saw works better.

  • Very nice...

  • thumbs up

  • my wire saw is 30 years old still in the package just waiting to go out i only car camp so i bring my buck saw got 2

  • Nice video they also make a great garrote.

  • A folding saw takes up just a little more room and cuts a hell of a lot more efficiently.

  • these saws heat up and break dont depend on them

  • nice gear! did u run out of money for foot wear? just sayin'... also then why are you wearing gloves, jacket and hat? you should be wearing only a survival speedo... i'm just getting mixed signals, please clarify your logic...thx, great vid.

  • @veinspect I think it's just a matter of your perception. I have noticed he is barefoot in all his videos. I don't think it has any relation to the quality of video.

  • @veinspect Some people are so focused on irrelevant details rather than the video itself. Just watch and enjoy! Just sayin'

  • sad that most of these saw handles pop right off

  • I still say these types of saw are unreliable. I'd rather carry a small hatchet and snap that wood in a few hits than burn calories sawing away with a wire that has thin, breakable handles on it.

  • works great for cutting PVC pipe when plumbing something too

  • Nice demo of the wire-saw. One question though... why are you wearing your pack all the time? I always drop my pack while in camp or when working/prepping materials in the woods. Just sayin'...

  • Pretty cool idea for a wire saw, but, after spending years using different "survival saws", I'm NOT a big fan of "commando" or "wire" saws-I prefer Sabrecut or similar saws. The wire saw is an option for people who have little or no space in their survival kit, otherwise, look at other options.

  • From my experience a wire saw is only tiring and frustrating. True, they are super light weight and take up no space, but the calorie out put vs. work done is not practical in a survival situation IMHO. A sawvivor folding bow saw and extra blade dont take up that much room and can cut 50x more wood with 1/2 the out put.

  • no offense to anyone who likes wire saws but i see then at unreliable and break unless they are made by a name brand i may only be 14 but i want to be a survival expert and i (if i do become one) is good to know... and also yeah yeah i said name brands are reliable but i still like solid saws... its all a matter of opinion so don't go after me for this.

  • I have never thought of using as a bow saw

I am sure going to try that on my next outing

  • Great work!!! Thanks for sharing! Happy New Year!!!

  • Nice, proper technique. Wire saws take a bit of care, but you can't beat the space they take.

  • very informative and entertaining. have you ever done any survival camping or something like that? is the saw tiring to use?

  • Them saws are not very good . A folder saw would be better

  • I like your bow saw method, pretty slick! Enjoy your vids!

  • neat!

  • good idea turning it into a bow saw....its those little ideas that make or break a woodsman in wilderness. great demo! happy new year brother.

  • MANS INTRICATE SURVIVAL TACHNIQUE.

  • those saw blades are dodgy, broken 4. they get stuck in trees way to easy or just snap by themselves. all were different brands with one being the commando one. id rather use an axe or real saw

  • Why are you barefoot?

  • @bizzarrogeorge Why wouldn't he be barefoot?

  • Thank you for your Time and Knowledge. Your a Beast.

  • Am not a big fan of wire saws ,

Like most of survival equipment only about 10 percent effective.

No real practical use day to day.

For a good light weight pack / camp saw use a banco Laplander .

Wire saws and the like should only be used as a last resort when nothing else is available.

Thanks for taking the time to demo yours.

Oh and they can snap easily after only a little use

  • @robmochdre Seconded.

  • Very cool video, never tried a wire saw. worked well for you. Been looking to pick up one that looks like a Chainsaw blade with strap handles. Take care and thanks for sharing my friend.

  • Awesome! Thank You! Liked, Shared, etc.

  • I never had much luck with wire saws, but in all fairness I haven't tried one in a few years. Looks like the next generation is much more durable. Thanks!

  • wheres your shoes guy ,you wanna watch you dont get a thorn.

  • Great video!

  • Cool I always thought wiresaws were a joke, but looks like it's a great little saw for a quick little fire.
