  • This is insanity. Health is not a commodity. It should not be treated like one. This video was produced by a for profit corporation making millions in profit off of people at their most vulnerable moments in life, when they are sick, or injured.

  • It's nice to have someone break down health care down for me.

  • humana humana humana lol..

while this does sound peachy, i believe that all taxpayers should chip in for a National Health Service.. and the education system and work force have a daily exercise half hour every day to ensure everyone stays fit.. :D

  • i believe they r try to cause civil unrest so they can impose martial law to finish us off.its more than obvious to me the leaders of this country are so controlled by the bankers and oil companies.what we need to do is start to listen to these people who claim they can generate power by other means than oil solar or wind.why is there no research money spent on using water for fuel or magnets for electric?overunity is possible and our energy should be next to free.this will free the people.

  • Is this a joke?

Health care is not a business it is a necessity.

Did they honestly just compare buying a rake to getting health care? am I missing something here?

  • Really? If it's a necessity then why do most people under age 29 opt out of employer-paid Health Plans?

If it's a necessity why do they choose to get money instead of health care?

  • It's a necessity for old people, us younger people can get away with neglecting our health for that new rake.

  • i can see the comparison. it was a very simplified comparison.. its hardly rocket science

  • It's not a business??? what is your Dr. is he or she not a business owner? The Hospital that marks up services 900% is not a business? do you know how much you pay before you leave the grocery store or do you wait for the bill to show up two weeks later? There are choices out there for patients you just have to ask and do some research....

  • Yeah, Michael Moore's 'Sicko' was a great movie.

People in other countries receive healthcare (and college education) simply for being human.

Now we can bask in the devastating effects of pure greed, its also nice to know that the effects of Americas greed is being felt worldwide. That makes other countries love us SO much more.

  • And you also believe Michael Moores claim that Health Care is Cuba is as wonderful as he portrayed it in his movie. You believe what Dictators sell you. Bet you fell for Stalin too.

If you promise to move to Cuba forever, renounce your U.S. Citizenship, and only use Cuban Health care Ill pay for you plane ticket.

By the way, the Brooklyn Bridge is for sale

  • using google and online help,

you will make "wiser" choice about your "treatment" plan than your doctors.

    well said

    good

no grief! stay smarty, stay healthy!

  • gary has aids!!

  • At what point should her father have stopped trying to save the lives of his family in order to make an 'informed consumer decision'?

Healthcare cannot be compared to other forms of consumerism because healthcare is often based on need rather than desire.

  • And so, someone alse has to pay for you, involuntary because you did not ensure well enough for your situation?

Isn't that not even more greedy?

  • One of my ex-girlfriends almost died her sophomore year of college. The chimney in her parent's house became blocked and her whole family started to become ill. On the second day after the blockage their symptoms became unbearable and her father called for an ambulance. She had CO2 poisoning and spent multiple days in an oxygen tent. After leaving the hospital she was sent a bill for $25,000 because her family did not have insurance.

  • Well developed video - only one problem. The base assumption is that Gary knows what the hell he's doing. What if Gary didn't have a college education? What if Gary had brain damage? What if Gary was intellectually challenged? What if Gary didn't care about his children? Is it right for society to let them rely on his stupidity?

  • these humana videos are very well done.

    good job

  • good!

  • Great! What we need is more choice! We need to let the market work, instead of having government or big HMO's spoon feed us crap.

Give "free" government health care to the poor only, but leave the rest of us to shop around a pay for our own insurance.

  • i LOVE these videos

    =]

    good work.

  • cool video

  • Propaganda. It's not Consumer Driven Health Care, it's Profit Driven Health Care. When you turn health care into a business, you're cutting off funding for patients because less money spent on patients/customers=lower bottom line=more profits for the company. i don't know how it could be more simple than that.

  • funny - ck out "thanksgiving gone bad" too -

  • this reminds me of those UPS commercials where that long-haired dude draws on the erase-board.

  • Wow the logic.

Maybe their next video can explain why most people can't afford the cheapest health insurance.

Oh that's right, everyone is just fat and lazy. *sarcasm*

  • "I wish to begin by making a public confession: In the spring of 1987, as a physician, I caused the death of a man.

I was "rewarded" for this. It bought me an improved reputation in my job, and contributed to my advancement afterwards. Not only did I demonstrate I could indeed do what was expected of me, I exemplified the "good" company doctor: I saved a half million dollars."

    -Linda Peeno, ex-Humana employee

Copy and paste if you think all this is about corporate propaganda.

  • Australia, Denmark, Germany, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Sweden, The United Kingdom and even crapy France has free health care....idk why we call america the best country in the world

  • way to go comparing healthcare to a business; it shows how much healthcare in the US cares about the patient as person.

  • the Govt is going to kill all of us...you know why?...because think about it...take me for example...I've taken pills all my life but I recently stopped a few months ago...but I drink about 3 or 4 coca-colas per day and I eat all kinds of junk food and oh btw, I have no job and I'm 30K in debt so one day I'm going to get real sick, who's going to pay for that?...so what happens when the people refuse to pay for my hospital stay?...yeah, so see...they are going to kill us...

  • There is a huge difference between taking steps in order to stay healthy and self-diagnosis of a unknown illness. If you feel sic you should have a right to access appropriate healthcare professionals immediatly in order to start a rapid and accurate treatment course. Encouraging untrained americans to do the initial research on an illness of unknown severity often leads to bigger problems. In order to save money you should not be forced to jeopardize your health.

  • do all that, or move to Canada

  • hahaha, yeah.

  • LOL so true, Canada rox. . .

  • You know that joke that Americans used to say about foreigners marrying Americans to get Green Cards. % years from now, Canadians are going to be joking about Americans marrying us for Health Care Cards.

  • Stay smart, stay healthy!

And don't forget to read all the fine print in our exclusions you dumb-dumbs!

    -InHumana

  • but u get free health care in canada dont you?

  • There is no better system than American for- profit health care.

It may be a money sponge, with redundant administrative costs, and usually opts for the most expensive drugs, treatments and tests, but one can't argue that it doesn't deliver great care to those that can still afford it!

I'm a freedom loving American who doesn't want to be enslaved by socialized medicine. If I get sick, I want to handle it all by myself. Hell, I even do my own dental work.

    You go get'em Humana!

  • corporate propaganda

  • "I wish to begin by making a public confession: In the spring of 1987, as a physician, I caused the death of a man.

I was "rewarded" for this. It bought me an improved reputation in my job, and contributed to my advancement afterwards. Not only did I demonstrate I could indeed do what was expected of me, I exemplified the "good" company doctor: I saved a half million dollars."

    -Linda Peeno, ex-Humana employee

  • Yes, everybody should be able to eat and yes i'm a socialist.

  • that is what I said

  • FALLACY:

Only if "Gary" has unlimited amounts of time, can he afford to spend the time necessary to inform himself about available choices. Unless he has that relatively large amount of time, non-consumer-driven health care options might be more suitable. It depends on the context, as always.

    "Stay smart."

  • Every time a new vid comes up on my subscriptions, I always think," I'm not going to watch this because it's boring so I'll just hit the back button as soon as it starts so that it'll disappear from my subscription". But i always end up watching it all the way through anyways.

  • Of course the REAL reason that CDHPs cost less is that people that are healthy already (well educated people that can handle their healthcare decisions), enroll in these plans instead of traditional insurance plans. Because everyone is healthy, it costs less to insure them... And much more to insure the traditional plan enrollees. CDHPs should be illegal.

  • Since unhealthy people incur higher healthcare costs, they should pay more.

+ poor health is almost always personal fault, or parent's fault in raising their children. Those other times, it's bad luck (like inherited disability, etc.)

  • laugh... "those other times."

Your jinxed. Hope you enjoy your new found cancer.

  • I love this channel! Not because of the education value but from the fact that it proves. It proves that privatized heath care is way to money based and not for the general heath of the people. This makes me proud that i do not have to bring my wallet to the hospital in Canada

  • FREE HEALTH CARE!!

  • no health care will ever be free

  • Very entertaining and informative! Thanks!

  • love these vids and great information

  • This is fun to watch..

yet the idiot that makes it..

is probably working for the healthcare INDUSTRY

it shouldn't be an industry.. it should be a fundamental human right to get the best health care possible..

Look at Europe, no, we don't pay way more taxes than you do, and yes, we never, ever, have to worry for even about a split second, about getting the best possible care and advice..

    spreading the wealth ftw!

  • Same with Canada

  • samhamels: "it shouldn't be an industry.. it should be a fundamental human right to get the best health care possible.."

Right...and what about the food industry? Should it be a fundamental human right for everyone to eat? Should everyone pitch-in to make sure everyone else is being fed and kept healthy? Doesn't that make people irresponsible and dependent rather than responsible and productive? Yeah, it does...so why support it? Oh, right...you're a Socialist turd.

  • Wel you're right about something, wrong about another..

I am actually a socialist I guess.. I believe in equality en realizing that all 7 billion of us are in this world together, instead of believing that everyone should just be left on their own like animals in a zoo..

Of course food should remain to be an Industry, yet, everyone should be able to eat decently.. It's a completely different part of society.. feel free to compare it to health care.. tells more about you than about me tbh

  • interesting point. did you like the video?

  • Please go learn in Poland for a few years and tell me how satisfied you are with the quality of healthcare given there.

It's a right there aswell, just like you want it to be.

why won't you spread your own wealth douchebag if it makes you feel so good?

Oh that's right, you don't want to spread your own wealth, but you want to spread everyone elses wealth.

    Another typical ignoramus.
