  • I have a question.. How do I get edge on at&t, do I need a new sim card? Or can I use the 3g one on this nexus one even if its unlocked?

  • thumbs up if your watchng this with your nexus one in your hands lol

  • Wait... I thought multi-touch is a hardware option, like you can't use it if your screen doesn't support it... Does it mean that you can have multi touch with a software update?? :-S

  • @VhUgGz google disabled multi-touch on nexus one w/ 2.1 and reintroduced on 2.2

  • I don't believe Android 2.1 doesn't have multitouch within the browser!

  • wow... your video is boring do something with the phone it to show us omg..

  • do all android 2.1 phones got the like axis thing where you got some apps that can detect the z-y-z angles ?

  • Can this have the android lock screen?

  • do it have like appliquation to buy like the apps store ???? t buy like GPS radio like ect... soo yah

  • hey, what do you do with you phones when your done with them?

  • i have htc hd2. hey jon4lakers i really really like you videos kiss you

  • so is it a 5 now because theres multi touch now?

  • I am gonna get the iPhone it's Much better in my opinion I am a Fan of both iphone has its cons while NEXUS has its cons But Like iPhone since it's like freakin awesome and the OS 4.0 will be better :D So I will get the 3GS not 4g coz it looks a bit ugly :D 3GS HERE I COME! :D!

  • @WIZARDTOONTOWN Or wait 2 weeks and get the iPhone 4g/HD

  • @WIZARDTOONTOWN Imo, the N900 beats both.

  • @moltenbullet nokia sucks

  • @moltenbullet What? I thought N900 was a Nokia phone. Nokia phones sucks. And by the way resistive touch screen on an "high end device", come on Nokia. And Maemo is everything, but user-freandly. The only phones Nokia can beat are LG phones.

  • @WIZARDTOONTOWN moron

  • @WIZARDTOONTOWN I agree... The iPhone 4 looks horrible with the edges that it has - iPhone 3GS rocks but I really need multitasking.

  • @jon4lakers the bottom buttons are supposed to be hard to respond. ur supposed to hold it for a couple seconds to get it 2 work. hope that helped :)

  • @Thewoog they are still capacitive buttons and the only reason he was having trouble was because it was a small hardware issue and they fixed it about a week after the launch

  • @Thewoog Thie Iphone Screen isnt heat sensitive it detects electric pulses emitted from the body

  • @yaboiRmani no its heat sensitive

  • Getting this phone next week :D s'gun be goood :D

  • LIKE THAT PHONE

  • @SickDopeChick to bad if apple was actually doing that it would be on there website

  • htc incredible is better

  • it has 3G with att now, correct?

  • @The1quaresma7 yes it does but it costs $499

  • I tght Nexus1 had multitouch too..??

  • @sagarganatra it does

  • My next phone

  • well just an advice, it would be a lot better if on the review you actually use the phone, or make another video, and leave this one like your opinion about the phone, i really like the way you do reviews, but lately all i watch is NOTHING, just hearing ... and is boring... sorry about that.

well i would like to know: speakerphone quality, camera features, games...., all about multimedia. THANKS

  • I'm sure you can figure that out for yourself.

  • nexus one now has multitouch so you'd give it 5 out of 5?

  • yep, he did in a later video

  • @mpoveyr ges so

  • nexus one has now been updated with muti-touch.

  • @IIXRATEDIIHiTMAN how do u update it does it update itself ?

  • Goodbye iphone. <OLED+1ghz snapdragon :O

  • @IIXRATEDIIHiTMAN

    *AMOLED haha

  • @IIXRATEDIIHiTMAN no ACTUALLLY bye n1 cuz the iPhone of THIS YEAR is still coming out and will beat n1's ass!!!!!

  • @moneyboi50 thats exactly what an apple fanboy would say, and im not a fanboy of anything but seriously the iphone just doesnt have good enough specs, and the OS needs a complete overhaul to even come up to were the n1 is at

  • the response thing for the 4 buttons on the bottom only exists on the HTC phones... not really sure why. My dad has the eris, i have the moto droid, and my brother has the nexus one, and i have to say, the 4 buttons are extremely annoying on the nexus one and eris, but they work by barely touching them on the droid... not a big deal as he said, but VERY annoying on any new android phone other then the moto droid.

  • You said that it's a problem that the Nexus One hasn't any multi-touch technologies. But it's false, because there is a not built-in browser called Dolphin witch has multi-touch opportunities. And I'm really waiting for the Android version of the Firefox. I wish it will has mulit-touch :)

Thank for the videos, these are the best in the IT news! :)

  • @Theme55555 Okay, sorry about the previous comment, I have just seen your next video about the Android multi-touch browsing. :)

  • FYI: The slower response of the capacitive softkeys is an intentional design choice, to keep you from accidentally activating them while using the virtual keyboard.

  • @fennecfanatic exactly why the dont work as well

  • can this message app also be used for MSN ???

  • hey jon does N1 gets 5/5 now that it has multi touch in brower maps and gallery?

  • i think that this is going to be a great device. i am going to get this in the 3g 32gb version.

  • @SpencerChannel there is no 32gb version. it comes with a 4gb memory card and you can expand it

  • when is it going to come out on version...fall?

  • android phones are aimed towards one handed operations thats why multi touch is not implemented on the web browser but of course theres an app for that if you really need multi touch for the browser .... but there is multi touch used on the keyboard for typing with two thumbs instead of one

  • too bad it has multi-touch

  • umm what about music and video?(iPod)

  • hi i have a question, can the Nexus One work with a Sprint SIM Card? Please reply! It would help alot:)

  • in my knowledge no...because it is cdma based network....only tmobile and att is going to work..

  • the Sprint touch pro 2 comes with a sim card though. so wouldn't that work for this phone? just a thought.

  • The Nexus One looks really well, and i like that effect when you tap on the backround. The "Snapdragon" is also interesting, we will see what programmers are get out of this processor. But what i've seen from the hardware buttons with sometimes no response on tapping, i know myself good enough to know: That will go on my gears. Cause i love my iPhone 3GS because of his fantastic responseness and that's what i missed by all other phones. Hope this is a software, not a hardware-failure. greet@jon

  • I could just watch those green red and blue lines for hours o.O addicting...

  • you forgot yellow!!

  • @jamaicanigga3829 Whos bi...?

  • im givingaway an iphone 3g on my channel its part 2 of my giveaway video

  • phone

    review spam sucks

    get

    a job

and you won't be a broke anymore

  • i love htc

  • Why must everyone care that the phone they use is the best, its just as pointless at mac vs. pc

each device OS has different features and different tendency's for different people. I use an iPhone, but I dont root only for my home team. you gotta root for technology in general. and that competition, makes each phone better. I love android OS and iPhone OS, and cant decide on one. but, to each his own.

  • i have been a long time iphone fanboy but its a litle unfair to compare this to an older device (nexus-iphone 3gs) i garentee the new iphone will complaty own all these phones ahaha u prob agree with me to but for this is the king !

  • Its unfair to call the 3Gs an old phone. yes its a few months old, but its certainly not and 'old device'

the 3G, yes, thats old, given it has a new version (3Gs).

  • @TheStrangerWithCandy Well said, Jailbreaking is the BEST...!!! No one can beat jailbreaking..!!

  • I'm actually surprised that you gave this phone as high marks as you did John with you being the iPhone ass boy that you are and I wonder why you didn't state in your review that downloading the Dolphin browser takes care of 'pinch to zoom" your other issue is really you and your inability to press and hold. This phone shits all over the iPhone and you know it as does the Palm Pre/Plus, Pixi/Plus, Touch Pro 2/Till 2, Hero/Eris, Droid, N900, and about 59 other phones, Monk....

  • i wonder how jon gets all these products to review

  • they're sent to him by the manufacturers to review then he sends them back just like all the other reviewers on youtube.

  • he sends them back are you sure

  • everyone who does these reviews does. they are loaners. companies do it for publicity on their products, so they send their products to the reviewers with the biggest following. the reviewer keeps them for a week or 2, makes a video review then sends them back.

  • those cheap fucker i cant believe that shit that aint right what a bunch of turds

  • Gawd I'm sick of iphone people constantly bashing other phones no matter what phone it is or who reviews it. We get it. You like your iphone. The title of this vid is a Nexus One review. We're here to learn about the N1. NOT the iphone. People keep saying the iphone's better jailbroken. Well if you have to go to those lengths to make it better, it's not. We get it. You love your iphone. Great. Tell it to people on iphone videos. Different devices for different people. That's why there's choice.

  • Well said. :)

  • That never happens......you must be using it incorrectly.

  • What about the rumours of bad 3G coverage and N1 automatically switching to only EDGE, even though 3G is available on other phones at the same spot? Is this true? Pls advice as I plan to buy N1.

  • I want to watch some "science and technology" instead all there are are stupid fucking phone videos.

    holy fuck, give me break.

  • 04:46

    "tap" what???

  • 1:04

reminds me of an ipod nano

  • Comment removed

  • no multi-touch?! *sulk

  • does the trackball light up in various colors? when does this happen?

  • i had it it lights up white and light blue

  • I am using this phone on AT&T and I am loving it, on my 2nd day with it. Edge speed is not problem for me. GREAT phone!

  • One mistake in his review: there is multi-touch on the phone. It's just that the apps need to support it. The Dolphin Browser for Android has multi-touch.

  • como dicen los mexicanos

    ESE TELEFONO ES LA RIATA

pero el IPHONE ES LA VERGA

    (:

    haha si alguien entendio

    REPLYY

  • I'd prefer my iPhone over this any day. It's all in the apps. That's what makes the iPhone really great. I do love multi touch. I hate how they're marketing this on every big youtubers too. Kinda bs but whatever

  • well of course they're gonna market it on youtube. GOOGLE owns youtube.lol

  • Since everyone and their mom has an iPhone, I've been able to compare the apps on the android and iPhone market and I can say that I have not found an application on the iPhone I haven't found on android. I will give the iPhone the win on polished games. The two markets are comparable in terms of amount (lot of duplicates on the iPhone market), but the iPhone tends to have nicer looking games. Polished apps take time though, and I imagine android will have them soon.

  • I want someone to raid me like the Mongols hehe

  • so far im only like 5 seconds into the video, that sucks that for at&t that theres no 3G :(

  • I think this is a great phone, but for $550 it's not worth more than the iPhone 3Gs if you consider dollar for dollar quality

  • thats extramly cheap if it was sold at that price in Denmark. the iphone 3gs costs 943 dollars in Denmark

  • @dumle29 man kan ikke købe en iphone uden abbonnement i danmark...?

  • exactly. no iphone 3gs (or any of them) without a subscribtion. after 6 month (the time you are bound to a subscription in DK)

it will cost you 949 dollars

  • nåår på den måde, ja det er rigtigt

  • @MacintoshProductions well, you can always get a contract with it to make it cheaper. if you don't like that, look on the bright side, OMLED screen, 1ghz snapdragon processor, 5mp camera, multiple microphones for various functions, ect., makes it well worth it. If i didn't have over a year left until my contract expires with AT&T, I would get this phone over my current iphone3gs.

  • u have some good points

  • what about my music library. This only has 4GB you have to buy memory card's haven't we out grown those day's yet that's why I love My 32GB 3GS, I have 21GB of music and close to 10GB of Apps.

  • where did you get a 32gb 3gs

  • AT&T.... lol

  • @jakemertz even if it has 4 gb of memory, you could always have more than one micro sd card. once you reach 32gb on your 3gs, there is no other option but to delete some stuff. it's very useful to have sd cards. That's why so many cameras and phones have that option. Hopefully the new iphone will have that as a feature. You have 21 g of music, 10 gb of apps. You're almost out of memory. You might have to pay a little more for storage, but it wouldn't hurt to have it.

  • it's easier to carry one phone then 8- 4GB or 4- 8GB sd card's. A "Little" more for storage. let's say you sign a 2 year contract 180 vs. 300 for the 32GB iPhone. 8GB card's are about 50 dollars times 4 (because we are aiming for the same amount of storage.) equals 200.00 dollar's which totals 380.00 dollar's. so almost 100 dollars more. ( Wow talk about Apple Tax in reverse lol) What about 8 - 4Gb cards... 4GB card's are 25.00 time's 8 is 200.00 Again almost 100.00 dollar's more (with tax) Ct

  • well you could always put a sd card in a phone to use it. Micro sd cards aren't the cheapest, but the prices are going down. you can get one 8 gb micro sd card from amazon right now for $15 with an adapter. Micro sd cards aren't that big, so i don't think it would be hard to keep it in a safe place. You could also get a 16 gb micro sd card for $40. With this option, it's pretty nice when you're out of room. so that's $220 for the nexus one with 20 gb.

  • FOR NOW, the nexus one is one of the best if not the best phone. The nexus one has a lot of hardware that is superior over the iphone for $180, but you can still get the nexus one for $99 for a limited time i think. I don't think they'll make that deal last forever. For noise canceling, you have to actually use the phone to hear the difference. Many reviewers praise the noise canceling and all it's other features. I don't think apple cost more because i own a macbook pro and love it, but the

  • Not the best phone ever, but better than iPhone.

  • i agree. It's not the best phone, but for its price, it's a really good deal.

  • @PoetryRocksGadgets That doesn't make any sense.

  • Now this is all based for people that need that much storage. The 8GB iPhone has 4GB's more storage for 80 less and has it all built in. The 16GB is around one hundred less. For me the iPhone is my best option. I jail-broke mine wrote some script to make the camera get more FPS and to focus harder and the sound work's great for me. I don't need the noise canceling mine is crystal clear without that. It's funny everyone can criticize Apple costing more money but I can prove them wrong every time.

  • nexus one is currently the est phone for it's price

  • best*

  • The Nexus One supports multitouch but i heard that it can't use it because of an apple patent with pinch and zoom or something.

  • @nickbu1 not true.. htc hd2 have pinch zoom.

  • did it have wifi?

  • you do have multitouch, its just not installed due tu apples patent........ all you have to do is install an app!!!!!! research jon... researchhhh

  • @1doi3 i'm planning on getting this phone when i get my new every 2. where do you get the app?

  • Jon,

No multi-touch on the Nexus One due to Apple's patent

  • !!!

  • the nexus one is capable of multi touch. the browser is the problem. install dolphin browser and you'll see it works.

  • i don't get. Does it support multitouch?

  • Agreed. I use multi-touch quite a bit - would be strange to not have it,

  • i still say single touch is easier than actually holding your phone with your other hand and pinching

  • nexus 2 vs iphone 5g would be the best

  • haha we voted for this on twitter :D

  • the call quality is because it has voice cancelation....you schould have known that

  • 550 is alot of money

  • iPhone 3GS ~800USD without Contract

  • Wrong. No contract brand new

    32GB 3GS is 699.99.

    16GB 3GS is 599.99.

    8GB is 499.99

  • im gonna wait for iphone 4G and then compare the iphone with nexus :D

  • the iphone 4g would be more advanced though so that'd be a retarded pair up to see which is better. iphone would obviously have an unfair advantage.ha

  • right now comparing this to a 3gs is retarded. :)

  • the iPhone has a word processor called Notes, does the Nexus One have a word processor???

  • It annoys me a bit that it is a Google-phone. Sounds so.. "Google".

  • new nexus one vs iphone 4g

  • There WILL BE multi-touch:

The hardware supports it, the software doesn't.

Therefore, when the nexus 1 is released in europe WITH multitouch (cuz hardware supports it and there's no europe patent, like the moto droid) you WILL be able to copy the rom to your american purchased one and you will have full multitouch.

    Than, it will rule forever.

  • Multi touch isnt everything i prefer the one touch zoom.

  • Both the hardware and software support multi touch they haven't been granted permission by the apple superiors yet, since apple holds the patent for it, you guys need to read more blogs before talking.

  • so are you going to start using it on a daily bases? or keep with the Iphone? because i just dont see myself switching to this from an iphone...

  • Wow u guys are messesd up. I'm an iPhone user but anyone can see this is a great powerful phone. But is it just me or is the nexus kinda ugly and boring to look at

  • No multi-touch for N1 because of Apple's patent on multi-touch. Damn you Apple!

  • I thought Jon said there was an Android phone with multi-touch?

  • Well Google's Smart they will invent some new multi-touch, Apple is Smart

  • lol, I just read your message after posting mine...

  • jon: I think the buttons are "unresponsive" on purpose, so that you wouldn't press them accidentally. So it requires a firm pressure - but I think it is much easier to press than a physical button, like the iphone's home button

  • @Chritcha That's what I thought. He almost made it seemed like the phone's buttons were made of poor responsive quality.

  • it does gave noice canceling

  • lmao, it's so ironic how you the build quality seems nice... nigahiga threw his on the floor ON ACCIDENT. on film. and it broke. :D

  • I think those buttons on the bottom are unresponsive by design. If they weren't you would trigger them accidentally. Or do you just tap a physical button? No, you press it.

  • samsung code on the metropcs is better...

  • cool8man, Apple is introducing multitasking in iPhone OS 4.0... jon said something about it before!

  • Of the top 3 phones: iPhone/NexusOne/Palm Pre, the Palm Pre is the only one that can both multitouch and multitask.

Apple needs to add multitasking and Google needs to add multitouch to it's apps before I could ever consider switching to them from webOS.

  • pants on the floor

  • unlocked means you can use it on any gsm carrier such as At&t and tmobile. great review :)

  • from other comments on the nexus one, people say you can download a different browser with multitouch support. is that true?

  • @Kimarey yeah it's called dolphin browser

  • Download the Dolphin Browser. Multi Touch enabled and works as well as the default browser; no difference.

  • this phone is soooo slick, but it kinda sux tht AT&T cant get 3G.... tht might be the only reason im not seriously thinking bout one, and they should make it in sum different colors like white, all black, or maybe like a choclate kinda like the nokia n95

  • @likemic05 At&T still sucks!
