Thank you for taking me back. Diana Ross was and is still one of a kind. No one looks like her, smiles like her or sings like her. When you hear her, you know who it is.
I never tire of seeing this Miss Ross/Mame/Leadiing Lady Medley. This segment MADE the GIT special. This also finally convinced that Diana Ross was more than ready to leave The Supremes and that all system for superstardom for the lady were on GO! thanks for posting this everlasting video.
@MrMbell2 GIT stands for Get It Together. It featured the Supremes and the Temptations (but mostly Diana Ross) singing Broadway songs. A year earlier, in 1968, The Supremes did a TV special with the Temptations called TCB 'Taking Care Of Business'. This was supposed to be a similar TV special.
This is how Mame should be done yo. There's was never anyone like Diana Ross and there never will be anyone like her again. She was phenomenal and mesmerizing. What a singing voice!
This is the epitome of what made Diana Ross different from any other Supreme. From the begining she set out to show that she was more than just the girl in that "Supremes" formula. You cannot tell me that had Mary, Florence, or even Cindy had demonstrated that drive and that ambition, that Berry being Berry would not have jumped on it? He was too shrewd not to. They stood in thier own way.
