Just one piece of advice if you want to keep the vintage sound of E himself in it, jesus christ JayBob please get rid of the vibrato in your voice? Just keep it flat down steady, and that applies to all your eels covers. The Vibrato is good, it seriously is, but not for EELS, voice vibratos do NOT fit with EELS. Have you ever heard E do a vibrato in any of his albums ever since Broken Toyshop was released? I haven't. Get rid of it, and you'll sound amazing !!! Cheers :)
Good job. Nice version. I know the feeling, yaknow, when yeh get driven by the song, and some feeling that appears to be bigger than yourself. heh it happens to me alot when i'm playing some things. And you're a granddad aren't yeh?
there's a chord that is wrong : if you put the capo on the 2nd case the chords aren't C Em F G as you play it but C G F G...it's just a little detail, meanwhile the way you play it sounds good too
Wow. Thank you for pointing that out to me! I just listened to the recording and went from there, guessing of course. You are spot on and I do mean it when I say thank you. Cheers. J
I just bought a Yamaha G-231, and am learning. Is this a classical guitar made for picking or is this guitar made for strumming? Can't find anything on the web about this guiter arg!
Hey there, GlobalCDM! Here's the skinny on nylon strings: No picks. At least that's the rule I got from my teachers. There are people who do use picks, but I never use one and rarely if ever see anyone using one on nylon. That said, it's easy for me to remember because I don't know how to use a pick in the first place. LOL. I think I paid $130 for the guitar, used. I was later told that they go for that new. Ha! Oh well. I love the instrument.
I was afraid you'd say it was a nylon string guitar. I just bought mine and its been strung with metal strings...How much are new strings? I paid 145 for mine ha ha...
Ha! Well, guess what. The price was $145 on mine, too. I still have the tag on it. But I talked the manager of the Goodwill store to go down 10 bucks or so. New nylon strings are under 10 bucks. Three of the strings ARE bronze wound, so I hope you aren't talking about those. But three of the strings are just like thick fishing line. Buy a new and complete set and you will be happy. Steel strings place too much stress on the neck, so get them off of there, pronto!!! LoL.
Thanks. I loosened them and will replace them tomorrow. are Nylon strings easier to play? I know how to play the Ukulaele, and now want to pick up the guitar, but wow the cords are harder to hold the strings down.
Whew! Yes, easier on the fingers. But the neck is wider than the steel string guitars and so harder to reach around. Two edged sword, that. That video of the guy playing While My Guitar Gently Weeps on the Ukulaele is amazing. Do you know that one? If not, then go play it on YouTube right now. It will blow you away. You probably already know about it though.
steel strings on the original nylon classical / spanish guitar will not put too much stress on the neck. you do have to watch a little bit what you're doing, yes, and indeed it's hard to play a guitar strung like that, extremely heavy. But if you can you'll have a more amazing sound than any steel stringed modern guitar. I have an old Spanish Martinez stringed steel way, and the brilliance the wood makes, is mind blowing. It's absolutely worth a shot if you want my opinion, just go for it.
Ciao, Carlo81! Thank you. And glad too that you caught some pleasure with the guitar work. Yes, it is different. I love their strum, but this is how I do it. Great to see you here. J
I guess one man and his guitar is the best way to go. I love it, it's so personal, jonny cash, bob dylan and the likes of...So hard to get right and in my opinion you've got it down very very well! Keep up the good work my good man -
Boberino3, yes. It was supposed to be for the little girl to see. I say "I love you" and she says, "I love you too." Some background might have helped. Thank you.
ridiculous intro but extremely well performed I think.

Yeah....I've always regretted the intro. Maybe it's because I was nervous? Dunno. Thank you for the very positive comment, though. Cheers!
