When I read the title of this video I thought to myself "the best point I have EVER seen in tennis was the point in the Lipton International with Lendl and Mecir" And I was soooooooooo thrilled to see someone else knows this is simply the best point of all time and will always be so. I'm not even a fan of Lendl. I do think Mecis is prolly one of most talented players of all time though.

Becker said about Mecir, that the only way you could beat him was to actually play shit! The better Becker played, the better Mecir played, so Becker literally had to play shithouse to have a shot at beating him.

that's what lendl gets for trying to play cutesy tennis and not his usual power tennis - he should've blasted that last forehand down the line for a winner instead of going for another acute angle

'87 was lendl's best year so this was a good win for mecir (lendl destroyed mecir in the their 4 other encounters)

this is not the only time mecir destroyed a top player in his best year - in '88 (wilander's best year BY FAR), mecir completely dominated him at wimbledon... gr8 match for mecir
