Chapman was at least 3-5 years ahead of most everyone else when it came to predicting the decline of the dollar and the sinking economy. He takes no advertising and calls it the way he sees it. I think it may have started even before Clinton, I think it probably got it's origin from the Reagan/Bush years (when you look at Debt to GDP numbers especially), but I agree it is not a partisan issue. The Australian economist Steven Keen blames the issue (I think correctly) on a systemic speculative philosophy rather than a philosophy which values labor.

The stock market crash happend in October I believe of 29, it was 6 months to a year later when the pain was really felt. New Years eve of 29 everyone celebrated a normal new year coming in not realizing what happened. Kind of like when the Titanic was first hit by the ice berg, for the first while people didn't worry untill problems started happening later, no one at first could believe that the unsinkable ship could sink . .
