  • Thanks for posting. This is a great version I'd never heard before. Amazing.

  • Spine tinglin! I cannot stop listenin 2 this! It's a major pity this didn't make it onto Desire!

  • I prefer this to Joey. I don't understand why Joey was put on Desire instead of this masterpiece :( Joey still a good song though

  • absolute sheer sheer class,,,, what a treasure of a song !!!!!!!

  • Well, play it at my funeral!

  • This track is also on the Genuine Bootleg Series Vol.2

  • cheers

  • It is a pleasure to be on the same planet as Dylan, poet scholar and an hero of the highest order.

  • What a treat that must have been. I was born in the wrong era.

  • Bob Dylan for president !

  • Thank You for uploading this and thank you all for the great comments...I have always loved this song..

  • Amazing

  • The half hour song in four and a half minutes. Oh to have been there.

  • It's no use knowing the source, as you have to be a member to download from it.

  • @TheChrishoughton You can download this from demonoid... no need for an account.

  • This is the first time Dylan had played this newly penned song I love the story behind this performance, but sad he had to write it. This is truly the best version of "Abandoned Love!" So glad to see this back on here! Thanks for the upload.

  • The best version I've heard. Thanks!

  • Wonderful- what a gem. you did a great job- some wonderful shots of Bob.

Where did you find that one at 3:39- Love it.

    Thanks for the video.

  • Thanks to Joe Kivak for recording this and thanks TheChrishoughton for sharing it here - Bob at his finest.

  • Does anyone have a download for this?

  • @dinaklarisse if you find a source, please share!

  • Goose bumps.

  • Check out my favourited videos. Most were taken during a Bob Dylan 70th Birthday Party at Esquires in Bedford. Thanks!

  • No there aren't any better quality, it was only recorded on a handheld, by a member of the audience. We should just thank him for having the foresight to record it.

  • does a better quality version of this exist anywhere on the internet? finding this was difficult enough

  • Thank you very much TheChrishoughton

  • ...how long much I suffer such abuuuuuuuuuse. I love it.

  • Oh, Thank You, Lord & TheChrishoughton! I had this saved, but not downloaded & the WebSherrif....well we all know that story!

I believe Dylan wrote this during or before his embattled split/divorce from Sarah. You can hear his heart break & tell he is wearing it on his sleeve in this song.

I love this song, but it really tears my heart & soul especially when he sings of the kids. Everyone knows he loved/loves her dearly. Nothing compares to this live version. THank You, Thank YOU!

  • Glad to see someone has spotted two mistakes

  • Proofreader's alert:

it's "I can HEAR (not "here") the turning of the key".....and it's

"I love you but YOU'RE strange" (not "your").

  • Love, love, LOVE this song! Thanks for sharing. I'm so tired of looking up Bob Dylan songs to share and all I find are covers.

  • Brilliant find! Thank you! Never heard this before.

  • Spot on mate, cheers for uploadin'....I'd never heard this version before and it's fuckin' ACE :)

  • I think with an American accent, you would hear the 'r' in guards more pronounced than we hear on this song. The official lyrics state 'Gods', I know that doesn't prove much where Dylan is concerned, but I think in this case it probably is 'Gods'. Thanks for the comment.

  • i might be wrong but i hear "guards are dead " not gods.

  • I had a nightmare finding this track and had to convert to mp3. Dylan had turned up to the 'Other End', which was located inside the 'Bitter End', in Greenwich Village, NYC. Rambling Jack Elliott was playing and invited Dylan on stage. Dylan performed with Elliott and then said he had just written a new song. Elliott actually began backing Dylan, at the start, but then thought better of it and left him to stun the audience with this performance.

  • where did you find this version? Great post by the way

  • As long as I love you I'm not free

  • THANKS SO MUCH

  • There are three spelling/grammar mistakes I know, but, I thought I would leave them on, so you can try to find them.
