  • thank god for rednecks

  • Wat kind of banjo is that

  • @MambyJamby1 That's a 5-string bluegrass banjo, the brand name is J. Reynolds, it's a beginner entry-level banjo on the range of $295, but I was lucky to get mine for $195. I no longer have the banjo with me though, nowadays two different Washburn banjos, but I still have hopes to get that one there shipped. It was a good banjo for the price. If you set up a beginner banjo nicely, lower the action and all, they can become nice banjos. But for that crisp sound, you need something with a tone ring

  • damn straight!

  • Whats with the flag?!?

I am from the north and know my perspective might be different from yours, however i feel that what you have in that flag is a symbol of hate. The flag has been soiled by the KKK and white supremacists. Its time for a new symbol to be proud of.

  • With all the respect, you are ignorant, at least on history. First, EVEN IF the flag there stood for hate, racism is not against the law. Freedom goes both ways, and I would reserve the right to display any flag I want in my residence. Furthermore, the KKK and white supremacists HEAVILY display YOUR Stars and Stripes everywhere, in fact, more than they do the Confederate flag. Slaves were brought here under YOUR flag. Native Americans were exterminated under YOUR flag. I could go on and on, sir.

  • Hello again. I know at least part of the contemporary history of the confedrate flag, and I know much of it is not pretty. We all have freedoms that go beyond any laws, however some people wish to steal the freedom of others and this is wrong.

You are making some assumptions about me, though. I do not support or trust, belive or have faith in the american flag. I am a citizen of the world.

  • Call that "me making assumptions", but a citizen of the world, to me, is another term for a liberal. The contemporary history of the Confederate flag is no different than the contemporary history of the American flag, and the world itself. As a self-proclaimed "citizen of the world", you should then take your time to criticize ethnic cleansing and modern slavery in Africa, freedom in South America, human rights in China and the Middle East, etc, instead of focusing on a mere flag.

  • And besides, for every negative thing you point out about my Confederate flag, I can point out ten negative things about the American flag, or ANY other flag of the world, that you are a "citizen" of. Have I made assumptions about you? Well, welcome to my world, then. What assumptions do you think people make of a Rebel flag wavin', banjo pickin' redneck, sir? Y'all come here and assume I'm stupid and a ignorant bigot. However, that's not the case, History is my life and I can back my shit up.

  • Well said sir, I admire you.

  • Thank you.

  • That's great man, show your pride. Pack a nice dip, and honor Dixie's colors.

  • lol you live in the city, put your head down.

  • I certainly do, I have lived in various cities, states, even countries. However, that certainly doesn't make my rural background go away, and thank God it doesn't! I grew up milking cows and roping calves, repairing fences and driving an old Massey Ferguson and everything in between. Rode bulls semi-professionally for two years. Proud of it and I will keep my head up!

  • I love the rebel flag! i have three! one 3 by 5 ft one flying in my front yard on a 10 ft pole 20 yrds away from highway 16 in texas. another 3 by 5 ft one with a skull and cross swords on it in my room. and a small one hangin from my front porch. how many do you have? i see a new one in every one of your vids.

  • Right on! I have about a dozen or so... fixin' to get a hundred! I have a little eBay store, just got started, making Rebel t-shirts and I wanna start selling Rebel flags soon. A flag on the side of the highway always looks nice, as travelers pass by and see how the spirit of Dixie is far from dead. Keep it up, God bless Texas!

  • I got 1 is all =(, but im happy with the naval one i got though lol lol God save California lol gotta save it there aint no blessing these people!!!

  • I love the FLA/CS flag in the background!!

  • And anyone posting compliments on this message board. Refer to my comment to Cleetus earlier

  • Who in the world is Cleetus here?

  • Yes, I need you, babe! ;)

  • It would be a pleasure to pick with you, sir! Lemme know, I'm poor (for real, broke as hell) but I would be glad to host you, there's always plenty of food, beer and shine wherever I live, and of course, always got good ol' Mountain Music playing! And yeah, thanks for the encouragement, I appreciate that. Keep up the picking out there as well, my friend!

  • I know you are new to this, but you sound great. Good pacing, good timing. You've got 'that sound.'Even though I was raised in Connecticut and now live outside of San Francisco, I have played Mountain Music (Bluegrass) most of my life. Southern culture was, is, and always will be well worth keeping alive and strong.

If I ever get down that way, maybe we can pick some! Keep up the good work!

  • Thanks! Yep, I'm totally old fashioned here, someone's gotta keep our old ways alive and preserve where we all came from.

  • blees ya buddy our old ways are crumblin save the culture!!!!

  • Hell yeah!!!

  • LONG LIVE THE CSA!

  • Well, I ain't never played guitar, but I've seen a lot of people playing. No, it's very different, you pick banjo (not the frailing or clawhammer style, which I do not know a lot about) with your thumb, index and middle fingers, using fingerpicks (not mandatory, but extremely . I would say that picking banjo is a little harder then picking a guitar, I guess.

  • That would be an honor, brother! I'm still just a lousy beginner, but whenever I get hot on that skin box, come on down to my trailer park and let's jam, buddy! Hell yeah!

  • Thank you, buddy! I love that flag too, soon I will be flying it down yonder, in the good ole Sunshine State, praise the Lord!!!

  • Hey man, when I get back, if you ever need a bass, maybe we can hang out and play a bit some time. That would be cool - a banjo and bass. lol

  • Alright man, nicely done. Like the Confederate/Florida flag you got there too.

  • Hahaha, cool, my uncle that raised me gave some Red Man once, and I liked it! However, the first time I ever tried, I didn't know how it was done, so I was swallowing all the juice. 'Bout twenty minutes later I was as sick as a dog, throwing up lunch and all! Make sure they spit it out!!! :)

  • Haha, thank you guys! Glad I'll be entertaining y'alls' kids tonite, Waspsnests! Git-r done!

  • Awesome man! 5 stars! That takes talent!

  • great job.

  • Thank you folks, once again! Hi RiverBirch!!! Well, I'm sorry, I didn't have a mic around, just the digital camera. But yes, I coulda been louder. Recording the song repeatedly out in the cold might have gotten me singin' lower as well. It was less than 20 degrees outside, and to me, that's nearly unbearable! But I'll sure work on that, thank you! And yes, I chew tobacco all day long, especially when I'm picking. Red Man and Durango are my favorite brands. I occasionally dip or smoke too.

  • P.S. you need to get your voice louder, over the music; where is your mic located?

  • LOL spitting tobaccy at the end. LOL! I love the Confederate version... lay down boys, take a little nap, we're gonna raise hell in the cumberland gap; we ran George Morgan to the Yankee land, they spiked their guns and let them drop, over that western mountain top...

  • bascom lamar lunsford wrote that song I believe. either that or J.E. Mainer. good picking there.
