thats wrong. Ask any wushu athlete and they will tell you to grip the staff with your right hand (using mostly the space between ur thumb and ur index finger), and place your left hand on top of your right hand in a relaxed state. its hard to explain but...try flashmavi . com. there is a good example on that site on how to do it.
