  • @drumhaven Second that. I was elated to hear someone other than myself playing said tune in any context :)

  • He's the dj and the bouncer.

  • hi in your video i see a little computer keyboard there on your case. where did u get it and what brand is it

  • do an updated lighting/set up video!!

  • Do you know any light with out speakers above, E.G very fast and flashing like rave clubs?

  • i am a struggling dj,

i had some turntables but some idiots broke into my garage and stoled everything heres my new setup

i got a numark total control...1.alpha lexicon interface.and i plug my 2 15s Beringer into the interface.and my laptop. ok i am runing virtual dj,

but when i use my head phone mix..it goes out into the speaker..

  • what are the lights you have? I would like to purchase the same setup!

  • I have all of my lights on a ADJ DuraTruss system now and I've added more lights as well as an Elation Co-Pilot III lighting controller.

  • Like your setup. Simple, clean, professional. If you ever get the chance to, try angling your chauvet Q-beast on the ceiling. I have 2 ADJ mystic leds. Hate the dots they create but, when facing a ceililng almost parallel to it, it creates a neat effect.

  • Thanks, that's my simple setup, I do have a full triangular truss system with more lighting to offer my clients as an upgrade if they want a full light show. I just did a video on trussing and "advanced" lighting as opposed to this one about "simple" DJ lighting.

  • i have the co pilot II, just got into djing, hope i can figure it out, it seems great so far. so i should not use halogen lights?

  • I just got my CoPilot III last week, it's great!! I love it. No, no, there is nothing wrong with halogen lighting. It's just that LEDs never trip breakers even if you have 30 lights connected to one circuit because they draw very little electricity. Also the LEDs never need replacing, they are rated up to 100,000 hours. I remember replacing my halogens every 3 to 5 gigs and there is no cycle-down time required.

  • Ok now your talking potty. i only use hallogen and havent changed a bulb in 5 months and they get some heavy usage, look after them and buy high quality bulbs and they last. Cj7 your right the dots are hateful and LED only works with a gobo And theres no worry about pooping breakers over here cuz we get twice the power tbh you saying you never chane a bulb in led just says your cheap id like dj who uses the best not the cheapest and you need 30 led lights to get the effect of a set of hallogens

  • LEd lighting is still new technology in the professional lighting industry. Some effects they make very well, others, are questionable at best. Halogens don't give you the "dots" that LED's do. Also, Halogens are better for more vibrant color. LEDS are good for effect lighting and color wash uplighting. But, use whatever you are comfortable with. It's all about personal preference.

  • finaly somebody who isnt obsessed with LEDs!!!

  • I also mount my lights on the speaker stands if I'm doing a smaller show... nice vid:)

  • Good ideas. I have been mounting my vertigos on my speaker stands for years..

  • thats what hall vendors like 30 min tear down.

  • Do you make any effort to hide the cables at gigs?

  • You mean the cables coming out of my rack unit? I need a DJ facade, I'm looking at a back lit one, I'm deciding which one I like and I'll be ordering it next week. I don't like cabling everywhere either but for now it is what it is.

  • we velcro pleated linen to our racks, in both black and white depending on the event. A lit facade may be too much for a wedding, but I guess you could always unplug it.

Instead of your power strip use something like the rack mountable "Chauvet 8 Channel On/Off Controller" from pssl, it's less than $30

  • I've decided to make my own facade out of PVC piping with black crushed velvet and white satin as an alternative to be used with back-lighting.

I actually do have a rack mounted light control, it's an ADJ PC-100A 8 switch which was $30 at Guitar Center. I'm not using it in the video as you can see. I don't like it because there are far to many extension cords to run to it creating more cabling hassles. I'm going to buy the Elation Co-Pilot II wireless controller.

    Thanks for the input!

  • kool vid, great advice!

  • sick video pop, the music is captivating, cant wait to c the next vid!

  • The silent film music is actually Al Bowllys Midnight, the Stars and You as recorded in 1933. This song is heard at the end of one of my favorite movies, Stephen Kings The Shining where Jack Nicholsons character Jack is seen in the old group photo taken at the Hotels Grand Ball in 1923.

    I love it!!
