  • That engineer's voice has been replaced by an actor.

  • I love the Bill Blass version than the LSC sports version. The Bill Blass has the Lincoln hood ordiment and electronic instrument panel, with wood trim and cloth seats as it is a real personal luxury car than a sports car.

  • 0-60 in 8.5 was considered fast in the 80's when American cars and their makers sucked donkey dick.

  • Although I was only 6 when this commercial originally played I could see a Mark VII with a 350-400hp crate engine stuck in it and couple other small updates. This was one of the cars that was actually worth buying from Ford. I am not an American car fan (at least not of this period), but a clean Mark VII (at the right price) could find a space next to my late model imports.

  • whats up with the air suspension on these ...sometimes they look like the rear suspension broke

  • Well Ford just sold one to me because of this commercial, goin' to dealer right away after the weekend!

  • hard to believe this is TWENTY-FIVE years old

  • back when car makers could limit anti lock brake production. lol.

  • 1985 lsc mark 7's only had 165 hp, but 1988 and up mark 7's had 225 hp.

  • Exactly. It made the car sound quicker. This car probably had around 190 hp, had an automatic tranny, and was heavy. A 1984 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z could do 0 to 60 in eight seconds (turbocharged 2.2 4 cyl. Getrag 5 speed manual) and blow this thing off the highway!

  • wow only a second

  • That's 0 to 60, not 0 to 50, and I'm sure there was at least another second in that 10 mph increase, so more like 2 seconds. Like I said, a turbo 4 cyl Dodge would eat it for lunch.

  • @boardskins

And thus we see more super fast turbo 4 cyl Dodge's on the road today... right? I see them all over town beating the crap out of Challengers stock lol. Comparing a heavy highway cruiser to a little runabout is pointless. Might as well say a Chevette can beat a Lexus; ie pointless. Different cars for different purposes.

  • @markVIIchick Dodge SRT4 (even the Caliber version) does 0 to 60 in 5.4 seconds with a 1/4 mile time of 14.4 seconds @ 103 MPH (only 1 second slower than a Ford Mustang GT). Even the Dodge Spirit of the same year as the Mark in the vid (comparable weight) STILL out performs the Mark!

    That's a 4 CYLINDER TURBO SPIRIT.

This ad, using a 0 to 50 time as a bragging point is simply a lame attempt to appeal to the ignorant car buyer.

  • @boardskins

Same rules applies to modern car ads, heaven knows the junk they make today; they'll say anything to get people to buy lol. Then again why compare a 20yr old outdated car with a newer car? In that case a Fiero can beat a Model T Ford, or a Corvette can beat a 1882 Peugeot. I.E. Pointless O.o If the buyer falls for the commercial, then so be it; its all about selling cars- despite how wrong the actual facts is.

Yay for Spirits? There are SO reliable right? I've seen lots (lol).

  • @markVIIchick I WAS comparing cars from the same era!! 1984 Daytona (you said no comparison, lighter car, ignoring obviously smaller displacement), 1985 Spirit against 1985 Mark.

Dependable? Yes. I see them still on the road after more than two decades. Don't remember the last time I saw a 1985 Mark on the road... maybe 1993???

    I'm done.

  • @boardskins M'kay. I still say its a case of different cars for different uses, plain and simple. Sports car- for racing/speeding, cruising car for cruising. Corvettes are for racing, Escorts are for...you get the idea. Even I know the '85 Mark is slow, though on road trips I pick ANY Mark hands down.

Lincoln always been higher quality than Dodge; though I do love Dodge trucks.

    Its been fun ^.^

  • My gold 86 LSC was a sweet broom that took me from Texas to Virginia several times and back again. Mileage averaged around 24 mpg, and thats cruising windows down, moonroof back steady at 80 mph. Get a Mark. They have the cool seat controls, perfect handrest on the door, trunk humps, slide out drink racks, push button sun visors!!!!! Damn, I want one too.

  • what type of milage did it have? im not being a smartass, but im was considering buying one. either that, or a t-bird of the same year

  • The Mark VII Rocks. I got an 89 Signature Series with Air Ride Suspension. Out of all the vehicles I owned, this is my favorite all around.

  • i cant help but like this car now

  • Ford was a beast in the 1980s. Hopefully they will come back. :D

  • arent we? i believe we are doing a great job

  • 55 mph speed limit. Auto companies agreed not to admit that cares could go over 60 miles per hour.

  • LSD gets you fuckked upp andd makes you tripp balls.

Andd I'm not about ta tryy andd eat some LSC.

  • Lincolns are way better that Cadillac all of the time...

  • this was my first car. fell in love with it but had to let it go. one day i will own one again.

  • same here 1988 lsc was my first car i bought. traded it in and regret it ever since, but now im lookin for a low mileage lsc 88-89 with the leather and cloth seats like mine had.

  • this is gonna be my first car

  • dont forget this car is 20 years old....

  • @bman993

    ...but ahead of its time

  • and i guess you drive a little 4 banger front wheel drive ricer that sounds like it fuckin fartin as you drive down the highway

  • The most beautiful American car. Ever!

  • kyle petty with a stache and short hair lol

  • back then luxury cars wasnt that fast so the mark 7 lsc wasnt made for driving fast and back in the 1980s cars werent that fast ne way

  • wow... 0-50 in 8.1 seconds?... a prius can do better than that...

  • lol true..but dont forget this was the 80s so im sure that was pretty good for back then lol...plus the LSC probably weighs in excess of 2 tons

  • yea, i had a 91 lsc it was 7.1 to 60 mph. they also had an additional 45 hp in 1991. i really miss that car.

  • HA HA!

  • they weigh around 4850 lbs

  • Gotta love the music. Pure 80s. LOL

  • I just purchased one of these. And I gotta say, they do haul ass. And on top of it all, I got it for 700 bucks. And its in perfect shape. Oh helll ya! Btw, mine is faster than what mr petty said it was.

  • what about turning quickly? lol

  • Love my 89 mark vii

  • I like this can Mine is 91`.I think mine will go to 100km/h for less than 8 sec :)

  • Nice post! I have a car just like this one...however I think mine will do 0-50 in less than 8 seconds lol

  • Me too thats why im restoring and customizing the shit out of it in the future. Planning to make a low rider.

  • I Love my 89 Mark VII.

  • Awsome video. This one is going in my favorites lol. Love these cars. Owned one myself.

  • I still liked my two Mark VIII's.

  • God how I loved these cars! I owned 2 both ended tragically. The 5.0 V8 under the hood was awsome, it was the rich man's mustang. Ford ruined the design with the MarkVIII, it was never as popular as the VII. The VII was the first mass production car to have AntiLock Brakes.

  • Not true. The first anti-lock braking system was "SureTrack", first available on the 1969 Continental Mark III and made standard equipment in 1971.

  • this is my car
