Well, Brian, let's just say I had a brain fart. I kicked myself in the butt and actually opened up the owner's manual and answered my question. Duh. lol I've been doing this too many decades to not rely on my owner's manual. Sorry to have bothered you.
I do have one of these mixers that I use now. It doesn't have LED level indicators for each channel. Also, maybe it's just me but, I couldn't find a way for the player to stop after one song, just just does continuous. Have I missed something. Also, one question regarding the knobs for the different input channels L/R. When changing a input for a channel, sometimes I go over the channel that's playing and it automatically cuts it out. How do I avoid this? I'm sure it's something simple. lol
I had a Denon Dn-x500, but sold it. I regret it now, and wanted to buy a new one, but then I came across this one! A built in backup/extra player! Nice! The only drawback is that it doesn`t have pfl-meters on each channel, but I think I can do fine without it. BUT how is the sound quality compared to the Denon? Thought you would be the right person to ask since you own both. Have you used the American Audio mixer on a gig btw?
Yeah you are right about the dinner sets, etc. I don't know why I flaked in the video and didn't bother to list more practical applications than what I demonstrated.
Thats a real sweet mixer. American Audio is putting out some real solid products , despite what others may say about them. I've been using one of their 1st midi/mp3 controllers called "The ProMix". Not a bad product overall.
Was American Audiio "American DJ" before??? Looks like a cool mixer, I use 3 CDJ's...one just for drops, so having it built into themixer like that would be sweet. Thanks for the demo!
That is a bummer, though I realize that most people using a rackmountable 19" mixer are not going to be scratching, but PFL meters would have been nice. Still, nice looking mixer!
It pretty much has what I've shown in the video. As far as PFL goes, as I found out at Practice & N-Joy, nobody besides me and maybe GroovinDJ uses them... HA!
if the sd card could be nominated to a certain channel you could record loadsa samples to the card and basicly sample them in from the user defined channel though?
Yes, what you are suggesting is what I was doing with the voice drop :) When people think of mixers with samplers, they are talking about something you can sample on-the-fly with.
I "bought" that one off of DJ Chris from Essential DJ Productions who had just picked up a new one. It's made by Oddesey & runs about $70. DJ Chris has picked up a new one he likes better. Wonder if we can talk him into doing a video on it?
Interesting piece of equipment with the mp3 player. It would seem like the mp3 player is planned there as a backup when one of your players crash or maybe on wedding gigs organizers can bring their requests on SD card. Tho think usb input would have been better since the sticks are more common on file transportations.
Interesting point, although everyone I know here is using SD cards. The only people I know who are using memory sticks are thoes who are into computers, like techs, etc. SD cards are probably a price point with the broke DJs I know.. HA!
Ah ok then it is kinda country specific I guess. In here people mostly use memory sticks and SDs etc are mainly only used on digital cameras. Also USB port would make it possible to use external hard disk ;) Never the less it's nice feature on mixer.
Hey Brian
Is there a vu-meters for the PFL? or you can just see the output of the master 1 on the Vu meter?
practice and enjoy!

What was the song at the beginning of the video?
DJJoey100 2 years ago
I wish this mixer had echo/reverb for second mike. That would be great for Karaoke.
Also, wouldn't a mixer with built in ipod support be more useful?

You can't just 'Drag and drop' files.
The American Audio SDJ's will ONLY accept/play MP3 files.

I loved how you used the par cans as a light for the videos why don't you do it anymore? Looked nice! Gave real depth and coloration to the video.

Hmm I'll have to talk to my production team about that.....

Great vid, Bri. I can see it being really useful for overlaying jingles, sound drops or fun little loops.
You could also make a pre-mixed set on the SD card, for dinner or cocktail music when you're doing mobiles too, I guess. Good stuff!

No, it's missing that & PFL meters on the faders.

nice sd card works as a sampler?
fduk2008 4 years ago
It's not really a sampler. Although with a little pre-planing & the cue button, you can use it like I did with the voice drops :)
