Yeah you can do that cheesy hide at the top of the screen trick in the first level too. This game was pretty impressive for the time on SNES with its minimal slowdown, but the designers left some really lazy flaws in the game.

I'd say the only mistake you made was grabbing the weapon powerup at the beginning. The cresents (I believe) are actually more powerfull and they can go through your enemies, hitting several at one time. Otherwise, goo job, and very well done! Especially on darius. I love that music, but hated the level. So hard, lol.

yea those crab things are my worst enemies too, i never knew about that corner trick though lol, i always fought all the way through the level, i think ill keep it that way though, i like seeing how high i can make my score

If you still insist you should try for real high scores in Pacman, Space Invaders, Firebird and Galaxian instead, those 70s and 80s arcade classics.

Score counters are put in 90s (and after 1985) games mostly just to follow the old format, that's all. Most of them you can't max out unlike classics, so it's pointless other than being outright dumb.
