The only Thing I would love to hear from that fantastic corvette, is a louder rumble from the engine, and dude who ever came up with that please!!!!!! Put it in HD, so I can see the clarity of the image.
@Specialized1989 I'm guessing you are talking about the ones right behind the American flag? They show what position the car is in. 1 light for 1st place, 2 lights for 2nd. With the 4 different classes that race in ALMS it can be hard to tell who is in first sometimes.
@Woodster80 Agreed once that shell comes off they are a completely different animal that have absolutely no resemblance to the Corvette we know under the hood.
@defigi I just went to the laguna Seca race and I could here the vettes over all the other cars. I think it is because of there distinct low pitched growl
Sucks auto makers don't adhear to the old school. If you wanna race it on the track, you have to sell it first on the streets haha... Oh man I miss the good old days...
Seeing how supersupercars sell, I wouldn't be surprised there's one guy buying 100 just for the heck of it. Competition or not, collectioning, rarity and price are 3 parameters who only come as pairs, not trio's.
Most important reason for MC12 to not be able to race at Le Mans is not the minimum production criteria (they could make and sell a 100 of those cars tomorrow) but rather the fact the car is too long (!) to meet ACO's GT regulations.
FIA isn't removing GT1, but with the R8, and possible R35 coming next year (?), the Corvette teams decided they would like a more varied grid, or something along those lines, probably more of challenge :)
Ecology racing car, engine super sound- ideal, 7,0 V8 on ethanol C85. Super! I love benzin and "eco" versian. On two it's really CORVETTE C6.R. I love she with all my heart.
rotorypowered, I want what you're on. The GT1 class still runs in the ALMS, but only Corvette does the smaller American events. Aston Martin isn't gone, they just don't run much of the American scene.
from what i heard the ALMS GT1 Compuware vettes are stepping down to gt2 compition because of cost and the fact that the compuware boys are the only GT1 team running in the alms. Like at Long beach, only 20 cars ran the field there. the only time you'll see more GT1 compition is either at petite le mans or sebring.
I wonder what will happen in GT1. I hope that Corvette still dominates! The sanctioning body, I'm sure will try to take power away through air restriction from the 6L because it will still be a larger engine than it's competion accept maybe the Aston.
What I meant was when the Corvette moves to GT1 it will could use the 6L instead of the 7L as it has been reported through several services. Because even a 6L would obviously be a bigger engine than the Porsche or the Ferrari regardless.
like commnet posted above, but i think some parts from the zo6.There is i have a picture of a pedestrian c6r that i took at mid ohio 2008.pretty sweet looking, u can tell they are same breed:)email email address send to you.
The C6R(GT1) is a purpose built race car with the C6ZO6 engine (7.0). It is from the ground up. The C6S(GT2) Is an extremely modified regular C6 (6.2L). Because there is no one else in the GT1 class anymore(just the two compuware Corvettes) They are going to bump down to the GT2 class.
thanks. can someone quickly explain some of the alms rules and how it works. i love watching racing but i dont have cable or satilite so i cant watch alot of the racing. i only watch nascar because of this but i have seen some alms races and they are awsome, alot of cars on the track, thanks
Why are they bumping down to GT2. Is it more competitive for them. I think they'll do very very well. I think when big boy (corvette) steps into room (GT2), everyone(aston, porche, ferrari, panoz, saleen) will sigh quietly. Good luck in GT2 Corvette, i'll be waching.
The chassis, body and structural components would not be interchangeable on a road going Z06 or C6 and a C6-R. C6-R's were built around a roll cage and larger fuel cells out of hydro-formed steel with carbon fibre used for the body panels and to stiffen and strengthen portions of the car. Many of the suspension components and some of the engine parts are interchangeable, though. Like most GT class cars, they'll use OEM parts to complete the car after the racing part is done being made.
Thanks for clearing that up but i still want to know if the use the same monocoque as a production corvette and then fitted with the roll cage and other racing bits or is it all a tubular chassis and fited with panel to resemble a corvette kind like nascar only this one handles. i hate that here in the sates alms is not as popular and get many documentaries on it like we do on nascar. what about other manufactures do they use the same process or is there more homologation?
awesome man if u ever been to a drag race its about the same feel just that the engines there were so loud that it too shaked the ground but that my vision went blurry everytime he reved it.
