  • Elle réussit toute ce qu'elle touche, un phénomène

  • Great!

  • Martha is the greatest pianist of all times. After Nelson Freire, of course.

  • i'm proud to be argentinian like her :D

  • @soyjunio13 the irony..sort of.

  • @hellomotobleh i wasn't being ironic. I'm as proud of my country as you

  • she is my inspiration (:

  • She is a treasured gift to the composers she interprets and to the

audiences who have had the opportunity to hear her perform in person or via recordings. She's the "go-to" person of the piano. Just a fantastic, fabulous, thrilling musician, pianist, human being!!!! It's not an easy thing to have

had such an exhausting concert career. Thank you so much, Marta, for enriching my musical life. You are truly loved and respected.

  • One in a billion.

  • i love this!

  • This recording is divine ...

  • Martha was here in Rio (brasil) decades ago with M. Rostropovits and we have the longplay disc from this evening signed by both of them. Today I dont know witsh of the signatures I cherish the most. Shirley

  • If better exist-then no one has ever heard them.TY for posting this gem.kiwibd

  • Love Marta

  • I've heard that she doesn't have a good caracter...

who cares she plays good and that's all what matters

  • her mom crashed at my mom's house for about a year a long time ago.

  • Martha will never die! And I will listen to her till the end of my life.

  • @musiclover1485 Well said. I love this woman.

  • wow soo beautiful

  • mucho Argerich!!

  • It's so pure and passionate... it makes me feel deeply emotioned.

It's impossible not to cry listening the Fantasiestucke's begining by Martha.

It's impossible not to love Martha by hearing just the begining of this song...

  • uhmhmm total gelangweilt wer will mit mir schreiben hab auch bilder von mir

  • this is really beautiful , I hope to be as good as her some day ;-)

  • 3:32 = Chopin-Prélude op.28/18 ?

  • @Paulo78180 NO!!!...the second PhantasieStucke OP12!! :-))

  • @fabio0077 Thank you a lot, I can read like you. I meant that the Prelude op.24 n°18 of Chopin sounds like the second Fantasiestucke at 3:32 ;)

  • @Paulo78180 Oh...sorry!! I misunderstand!!! :-)

  • Argerich is IMHO one of few who is technical flawless and has therefor total freedom.

    This sounds wonderful

  • Ah, Martha just 'gets' Schumann! Stunning playing and a beautiful work. Thanks for posting kiwibd!

  • Funny. I first heard this performance of both of these pieces, before I listened to others. As of yet, Argerich is the only one I really like. Other famous pianists play Des Abends and Aufschwung much more rigid. I actually think it's Argerich who is more 'fluid'.

  • @tweriovnzxclb have you listened to Richter version?

  • Famous classical pianists can have such weird interpretations. I was used to hearing very conventional, fluid performances of this piece, but Argerich plays with a strangely scattered, stumbling rhythm. It's jarring to me.

  • @jedwards1211

And with a lot of pedal too! But then, Schumann is a 'Romantic' genre composer and there is a dark and intense and powerful presence in this music that, for me at least, reacts well to violent treatments of the tempo...as well as to more straightforward and calmer playing too. Basically it's great music with countless wonderful different interpretations possible! Schumann is awesome.

  • Ahh... this Des Abend is very sublime in Martha's hands.

  • There's something magical about this recording.

  • Elle est exceptionnelle ! Schumann et Argerich ne font qu'un... c'est sublime !!!

  • Absolutamente genial

  • Typo...sorry, I meant to type Schumann!! Up too late at night listening to music. I happen to love both Schumann and Schubert's compositions btw!

  • it's Schumann :)

  • Yes, it is fantastic and is definitely Schumann. If you'll look above you will see that I had made a correction. What do you think of Argerich's performance?

  • I think she is one of the few people that can take a tempo that fast in a piece and still bring out every detail perfectly.

  • magnifica pianista...magnifico schumann...bello tutto...questo è suonare...

  • conordo pienamente!

  • This is some of the first Schumann I've heard and I totally love it. Aufschwung, fantastic piece. I haven't heard anyone else play it yet, but I already feel this will stay my favorite recording.

  • i've never met her, but i'd kill to spend just a few minutes with her, absorbing some of her greatness. she is one of the few true geniuses living on this planet. so gifted. i saw her in new york in 2007 from the first row and we made eye contact. i still get chills thinking that martha argerich once looked at me.

  • the same thing happened to me! Right in the front row, I was able to catch her eye, and just the shear presence of such genius is incredible. I'd kill to have a conversation with her...

  • Wonderful, touching and so truthful comment:-) Try to meet and tolking to her...she's fantastic:-)

  • My friend talked to her after her performance. He got her autograph and a picture with her (how lucky, I'm jealous). He told me she's a very nice person.

  • @semicolin Well, it's not something a Christian should say, but... I envy you about that. It's so good that she speaks Portuguese, my native language. But I'd spend even the one million dollars I don't have just to see her play. And make eye contact...Gosh!

  • @semicolin I wud die just to make eye contact with her ur very lucky

  • WOW. she is the woman everybody who loves piano loves haha...now i can see why, but not only through her music :)

  • you dont even have to like piano to love her. she glows with charm and experience.

  • wow aufshwung was pretty fast.

  • pretty fast?????

  • may be i am wrong, but love her playing in pp more than in ff. i count to her - when she is getting older she will be the best of all. her "bad luck" is, that she can play so easy and so fast. sometimes it is too fast. and martha knows this very well. however - martha argerich is one of the most important and exciting pianist today!

  • Very nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • To make it less loud I guess. When living in dense residential areas people often tend to find piano music annoying after 2 AM. I should know.

  • For soundproofing.. seriously.

  • she sleeps on her piano lol

  • It's a piano not a piece of furniture. As long as those ivories are accessible, she cares not. :)

  • I didn't know people people would say untrue or negative things about her. She is a great talent of the XX century, slightly eccentric, but with unforgettable power and skill.

  • she's a miracle...

  • The rubato is very well fitted to these pieces. Without becoming too sentimental

  • Aufschwung was just, exquisite.

  • Why are there always so few views on the second video? Who could skip the second video, and just ignore the stunning beauty?

  • wow. its like this particular recording contains 4 dimensions. it sounds extremely beautiful if u ask me.

  • What senssensual touch and passion she brings to the table, outstanding I cannot forget this name

  • Oh Martha !! you are a fantastic talent!!!

  • SCHUMANN PIEACES ARE RAW, I admire her knowledge of the piano(musical) and her ear(gift) for playing, not to mention her desire to execute them with touch sensisty and pace (timing)Her dedication is unreal, so it a lot of classical production I love hearing these interripatations when a great pianist plays incredible, it make you wonder if even the composure would be surprised, u know? how do they come up with this stuff, I would love to know more history on piano and piano music theory n pianst

  • Argerich=My idol.

  • she will live for ever, her body will day some day, maybe soon, but Martha Argerich will never die

  • i nearly cried when i saw your comment. Thanks

  • @kiwibd So did I

  • @nazhiitoxx

All wrong: it's her body that will never ever die

  • @nazhiitoxx whoa, leave her some time, she aint 70^^

i hope she will live a long live

  • @nazhiitoxx a goddess can't die....

  • @nazhiitoxx gods can't die, as far as I know...

  • Where is this recording from? Studio, Live? year? She plays it very very different in the late 70s recording in Amsterdam. I think I like this recording (the posted one) better.

    Regards.

  • this was recorded from concert in the concertgebouw =]

  • yes,it is faster,but sensitive as usual.

  • i love her and i would do anything to meet her again she is very special

  • hi there! have you actually met this ultra talented lady? how? 'im quite interested to know...
