The Last Night of the Proms is the last of a season of BBC Promenade Concerts all shown on telly. The first part of the show plays popular classics. Then some British patriotic pieces in the second half of the concert. This sequence traditionally begins with Edward Elgar's Land of Hope and Glory, and finishes with Rule, Britannia

The Royal Navy, and with them the Royal Marines, have defeated more enemies than anybody on the planet (ok the army helped and if it wasn't for the RAF ich speche would be the norm and so on.)

I'm British and proud of that and thank goodness we aren't in the Euro :) BTW I love Greece and I hope they get out of this mess.

The second bits a hymn that I have sung loads of times, but have forgotten the title as I ain't been to church for ten year or more. The last one is Rule Britannia which is a sort of nationalistic song to evoke pride and visions of Britain's past glorys, a very stiring song.

Oh, and regarding ThePhantomMajor's comment, Enoch did read the future of Britain right, but let's hope it doesn't all come true
