One reason why episode nine is my favourite. Triangle Staff got a lot of facts wrong (many are pointed out by Lawrence Eng at Thought Experiments Lain), but there are enough references in just that episode to make the series worth rewatching over and over.
Better check your research, dude. I'm a computer tech and have done a project on hypertext. These were not on any government or historical source I checked down at the library for my project. And, yes, it was my one of my college projects.
Hello there. I'd just like to point out, 1 year after you post this, that being a student, learning from professors and books from "down at the library" will not tell you everything. Whether you choose to accept it or not, not all knowledge in this world is public... the more you realize this the deeper that truth becomes till you realize that something like the Matrix is indeed a reality. Try the banned books next time :)
Hey there, Just wanted to tell you these Protocol videos come from an anime series called Serial Experiments Lain. Be sure to check it out sometime. It's a good series!
Not at all. Rewatch it carefully, there are URLs to... much more than this info, all throught the show. Key words: Monarch, HAARP, MKULTRA, Pheonix Prj, Philidalphia Prj, Willhelm Reich...
They made references to everything. American Dad, District 9, 9, Gunslinger Girl, Animatrix, Aeon Flux, Deus Ex, Half Life, Prey, Perfect Dark 64.... the truth is and always has been just infront of our eyes. Both the positive and the negative. It's up to us to obtain both and use the negative to unlock the positive instead of letting the negative run us into the ground
@Charles1Dourdy I do believe it's all fictional. The reason I say this is because after "Protocol 6", Masami Eiri is mentioned by the same narrator in the "seventh part" of the documentary. It's based in fact (Ted Nelson is a real guy, for instance), but I think it was all home-grown.
@javier29m90 Lain blurs the line between fantasy and reality; that's what makes it Lain.

@javier29m90 Oh, yeah, the stuff about Xanadu, etc. is real, but the documentary itself is fictional.

I've seen lain but didn't remember these bits. I just pulled up episode 9 (protocol) and was flabbergasted. Now I need to re-watch the series.

but you know, I'm thinking that the people that did Lain got this (these) vids from another source.
