i have played Aion private server and it was fun if you actually have enough people in team to keep doing item hunting. =D Better than just grinding quest all alone.
So now my final post here. I picked a random video. i didn't come here because it has anything to do with "Aion". I really don't know too much about Youtube. Simple a guess here to spread this message. Am a teacher. I Hope that the few people who will read it will take it to heart and remember it. When I'm making something on my computer I might be in front of the screen for several hours but I try to excercise each morning and evening, I play this specific game Aion, sometimes for several hours but I also go out and meet friends and have a a good time, I also use an iPod because when I'm walking down the street I don't want to hear the background noise of the city, I just want to hear my favorite song which puts me in a fine energetic mood
What about sitting in class at a 100 minute course learning about any kind of subject... that would induce permanent damage to your bones and muscles, would it not?. I think that what you need to convey to these kids is the idea of equilibrium through education. They need to learn about balancing their "fun hours" in front of the computer with other activities. In the end I believe that whatever makes a man happy doesn't necesarily have to destroy him like you're sugesting.
@gukonni Nevertheless you have a somewhat transcendental view on the matter but you cannot ignore the fact the the environment itself has changed because of man's intervention, so this return to nature and the real world is pretty limited considering the other realities that we have to deal with. Like earning a living doing what you like when doing what you like involves sitting in front of a computer for several hours.And I don't buy the 30 minutes sitting - permanent damage.
@gukonni That's a bit too generalised I think, for instance my counter argument to your anti-technology campaign would be a subjective one. I am very passionate about graphics and 3d and even more about the process of creating something from scratch, like a game world that people can be immersed by. Games my friend are a form of art in a way, and the players are it's fans or critics.
We CAN shut off the computer and put away our portables and survive. That's the distinction between the real world and the fake ones. And studies are showing us, and I make this point a lot to the kids, that the more we put away our computer and our portables and happier and healthier we're. Often they do not like my message and what they learn in class at first, but after a while they starto understand that being REAL and ACTIVE is far more rewarding than anything on a chip or in your head!!
And i've had a few youth in school tell me that the real world is also a fiction - that reality is a part of our imagination we all agree on. My counterargument is always that it might be a fiction, but if you remove yourself from it you die. There's no known method to not eat or not sleep or not merrymake or not exercise or not breath or not love AND survive. So it might be an agreed upon fiction, but we have no other choice than to live in THIS reality, regardless of its actual nature.
Similar studies have shown that multi-tasking does not make us better people or smarter. In fact, it puts a damper on our ability to focus on one thing. Put away your cellphones and ipods and ipads and all the other crap portable devices. They're slowly killing us. Our bodies and minds evolved over many thousands of years for a completely different environment. We're supposed to move around and speak with each other face to face. That's the reality our scientists are discovering.
In fact, studies have shown that not having actual contact wiht people hat's face to face diminishes areas of hte brain that're critical to complex social interaction and decision-making processes. If you're removing yourself from actual face to face social environments than you're equally damaging your brain. So think about it. Anytime we do this for more than 30 minutes, we're destroying our mind and body and permanently limiting both our happiness and lifespan.
God gave you a body and a mind so that you could use it. You were not meant to sit down at a computer to have fun. You're meant to go out and meet with friends and joy make and help and contribute in ways people remember. These are things you can't remove yourself from. Your body needs to move to stay healthy. In fact, if you sit for more than 30 minutes you're already doing permanent damage to your joints and muscles and bones. In addition, your mind needs contact with actual people. Learn!
Why even bother comparing Blizzard (creators of Warcraft, Starcraft and Diablo) to some random korean company like NCSoft? So they made 1 game that tries to take everything from WoW and present it in a prettier fashion, the company overall still sucks. Nobody really comes close to kind of skill and experience the Blizzard development teams have, Aion is going to get WRECKED by balance issues as they release more content.
Aion is beautiful...but unlike WoW, it will not last.
Both the games are great... I have played WoW for 4 years, and i have started with aion. (I'm Currently lvl 30) Some of you think WoW sucks, and some of you think Aion sucks... But that's only your opinion... Both are great MMO's! I love them both

Wow players are wannabe gamers (aka nerds), the real mmo gamers are found at lineage 2, a game which challenges your skills, and even if you have super gears, you won't beat an experienced player. It might be dieing, but its still a good game.

@t0x1cliverpool lol, i will simplify it for you: most of the WoW players (im my experience) are little kids who failed playing at Korean MMOs (because they would get killed e10 times before they could get done with their first quest) and they get mad and try WoW, WoW is a lot easier, they Succeed there and pretend to be "pros" when they are not, and yes, you might be an exception by not liking the UI, but your just the 5% in the 95%.

@Tawanamakuri Imagine if WoW actually started when you hit max level. Grind-fest MMO's are all about leveling and dragging out the leveling process. WoW is about FIRST reaching the max level, then the game actually begins. I don't see the need to have a leveling grindfest.

Comparing WoW and Aion is like comparing a Chevrolet Corvette and a Nissan 350Z. Both are very well built cars, both are very fast and very competitive in their range, however one has a very old background while the other doesn't. Blizzard, while making a game that has, to date, out playerbased any game in existance, can not compete with Aion in the field of beauty. Aion is awesome, and so is WoW. If there will be a WoW knockout, I feel Aion would be it. But WoW will never "die."
I tried Aion and liked it but after awhile it started to feel wrong to me. It felt too...korean-y..it's kinda hard to explain. That and it was very laggy and choppy and it would freeze most of the time during cutscenes. and even during the flashback scenes, or whatever they were (I think they were visions of the future or ur character repeats the same thing over and over), it would take a long time to load even though it only has one player there

Aion has a rather serious exp grind from 40 to 50 with very difficult quests as groups are a bit harder to coordinate that say wow. Certainly not for the faint of heart. There is a feeling tho once you reach 50 that "most" of the players at that lvl with you actually deserve to be there. Unlike WoW where ya 10 year old can get lvl 80 in under 2 weeks or during spring break....
AION is too much like L2... I quit at 31. I thought the game would be another WoW with more challenging and more elitist endgame, like vanilla WoW, but it turned out to be another L2. I really don't understand the entertainment of mundane xp farming, especially when you're paying a monthly fee to do so. I'm done with MMOs for a long time at this point, because I'm more entertained by a game like Team Fortress 2, without a monthly fee. Hell, my Internet bill is enough.
WoW isn't just for children with no lives dipshit, it was the first MMO of it's kind that people enjoyed. But tis true that Aion is it's equal now. Though Aion does surpas wow PvP wise. :)

Aion is fantastic beacuse it is a mix of Asian mmo's and Western mmo's. The graphics is Asian, the Gameplay/questing system is Western...and thats cool thats why i think it is one of the best MMORPGs on the market....

Another expansion doesnt = out of ideas, it means theyre planned ahead, Blizz had 6 or 7 books they havent even addressed yet in Lore. They arent out of ideas, they never will be, Aion has next to NO lore, the story is over before you hit lvl 30.

Awsome Game! It has Cutscenes/Epic Effects/Epic Graphics and PvP where you actually need skills! Its not Easy Mode as WOW, which is a good thing. abit more Hardcore then most. Very good mmo indeed, the best out there
NCsoft is on the right track here. AION doesn't bring anything 100% new to the table yet, but it takes the ebst of other MMOs and polishes it to perfection. Right off the bat AION has a solid base to build off of with an constantly expanding playerbase.
What will really set the game apart from the rest will be the expansions later on. Now that the game base is set and polished, NC can stream in newer, more unique content and build something truly origional. The sky is the limit with AION.

@koolwolf99 All MMO's are like. Your making a big mistake thinking WoW was the first one. Blizzard used to make Diablo style game and RTS (Warcraft, Starcraft) and then they saw how Everquest was, and got a great idea out of it. Nobody is copying WoW concepts, because WoW itself is a copy of another concept.

Are you a major retard? Aion has a fresh game and its lore is pretty new. WoW lore spanned across three games BEFORE it even came out, obviously it has more depth. You can't even compare the two.

I've been playing since first week. It's certainly a very pretty game and while it has alot of potential, I believe it has several big issues right now. First and foremost the rmt spam is killing the game at the moment, for instance if you step into the main cities within 30 seconds you probably will have been spammed by 5-10 rmt selling gold(kinah). There are also balance issues and some other minor flaws such as gems breaking on socket. Overall it might be worth a try if you're tired with WoW
Recently though thanks to NCsoft (probably), gold spam has reduced by a lot...I'd say as much as 90%. True a week ago you log in and all you see is a constant flood of gold spam...but it takes 15-20 seconds to block them all usually once you log in.
Manastones breaking on socket is not a flaw...it's intentionally put into the game.
I can't speak to the balancing issues at the moment, but balance is bound to change as people start hitting end game levels.

yeah but that comes with most everything in life. even if it gets boring after 20 years it eventually will. Games have a lifespan generally even when they are "game-breaking" =p games they still tend to only last in the prime for about 3 years at max. Wow is doing amazing to keep 13 million for almost 5 years now. But that doesn't compete with DnD.
DnD has like millions upon millions of followers that probably play WoW currently.
Ncsoft are the only ones out there (not counting the asians) who can compete with Blizz. Their Lineages weren't exactly unpopular that I can recall. So if you're bored of constant WoW half-broken patches and constant expansions, you'd better try Aion. I probably will once I get a PC that will be able to handle the graphics.

this one allows u to pay for only the time u play. so say u buy a month (30 days) of gameplay and the first day u play 2 hours. and then u dont play for the rest of ur time. u would still have 29 days and 22 hours left by day 30. if that makes sense. so u basically pay only when u play

Why even bother comparing Blizzard (creators of Warcraft, Starcraft and Diablo) to some random korean company like NCSoft? So they made 1 game that tries to take everything from WoW and present it in a prettier fashion, the company overall still sucks. Nobody really comes close to kind of skill and experience the Blizzard development teams have, Aion is going to get WRECKED by balance issues as they release more content.
Aion is beautiful...but unlike WoW, it will not last.

Both the games are great... I have played WoW for 4 years, and i have started with aion. (I'm Currently lvl 30) Some of you think WoW sucks, and some of you think Aion sucks... But that's only your opinion... Both are great MMO's! I love them both

Lineage II / III is a real game.
Wow players are wannabe gamers (aka nerds), the real mmo gamers are found at lineage 2, a game which challenges your skills, and even if you have super gears, you won't beat an experienced player. It might be dieing, but its still a good game.

@t0x1cliverpool lol, i will simplify it for you: most of the WoW players (im my experience) are little kids who failed playing at Korean MMOs (because they would get killed e10 times before they could get done with their first quest) and they get mad and try WoW, WoW is a lot easier, they Succeed there and pretend to be "pros" when they are not, and yes, you might be an exception by not liking the UI, but your just the 5% in the 95%.

Comparing WoW and Aion is like comparing a Chevrolet Corvette and a Nissan 350Z. Both are very well built cars, both are very fast and very competitive in their range, however one has a very old background while the other doesn't. Blizzard, while making a game that has, to date, out playerbased any game in existance, can not compete with Aion in the field of beauty. Aion is awesome, and so is WoW. If there will be a WoW knockout, I feel Aion would be it. But WoW will never "die."

I tried Aion and liked it but after awhile it started to feel wrong to me. It felt too...korean-y..it's kinda hard to explain. That and it was very laggy and choppy and it would freeze most of the time during cutscenes. and even during the flashback scenes, or whatever they were (I think they were visions of the future or ur character repeats the same thing over and over), it would take a long time to load even though it only has one player there

Aion has a rather serious exp grind from 40 to 50 with very difficult quests as groups are a bit harder to coordinate that say wow. Certainly not for the faint of heart. There is a feeling tho once you reach 50 that "most" of the players at that lvl with you actually deserve to be there. Unlike WoW where ya 10 year old can get lvl 80 in under 2 weeks or during spring break....

AION is too much like L2... I quit at 31. I thought the game would be another WoW with more challenging and more elitist endgame, like vanilla WoW, but it turned out to be another L2. I really don't understand the entertainment of mundane xp farming, especially when you're paying a monthly fee to do so. I'm done with MMOs for a long time at this point, because I'm more entertained by a game like Team Fortress 2, without a monthly fee. Hell, my Internet bill is enough.

Aion is fantastic beacuse it is a mix of Asian mmo's and Western mmo's. The graphics is Asian, the Gameplay/questing system is Western...and thats cool thats why i think it is one of the best MMORPGs on the market....

Another expansion doesnt = out of ideas, it means theyre planned ahead, Blizz had 6 or 7 books they havent even addressed yet in Lore. They arent out of ideas, they never will be, Aion has next to NO lore, the story is over before you hit lvl 30.

NCsoft is on the right track here. AION doesn't bring anything 100% new to the table yet, but it takes the ebst of other MMOs and polishes it to perfection. Right off the bat AION has a solid base to build off of with an constantly expanding playerbase.
What will really set the game apart from the rest will be the expansions later on. Now that the game base is set and polished, NC can stream in newer, more unique content and build something truly origional. The sky is the limit with AION.

Blizzard used to make Diablo style game and RTS (Warcraft, Starcraft) and then they saw how Everquest was, and got a great idea out of it. Nobody is copying WoW concepts, because WoW itself is a copy of another concept.

I've been playing since first week. It's certainly a very pretty game and while it has alot of potential, I believe it has several big issues right now. First and foremost the rmt spam is killing the game at the moment, for instance if you step into the main cities within 30 seconds you probably will have been spammed by 5-10 rmt selling gold(kinah). There are also balance issues and some other minor flaws such as gems breaking on socket. Overall it might be worth a try if you're tired with WoW

Recently though thanks to NCsoft (probably), gold spam has reduced by a lot...I'd say as much as 90%. True a week ago you log in and all you see is a constant flood of gold spam...but it takes 15-20 seconds to block them all usually once you log in.
Manastones breaking on socket is not a flaw...it's intentionally put into the game.
I can't speak to the balancing issues at the moment, but balance is bound to change as people start hitting end game levels.

yeah but that comes with most everything in life. even if it gets boring after 20 years it eventually will. Games have a lifespan generally even when they are "game-breaking" =p games they still tend to only last in the prime for about 3 years at max. Wow is doing amazing to keep 13 million for almost 5 years now. But that doesn't compete with DnD.
DnD has like millions upon millions of followers that probably play WoW currently.

Ncsoft are the only ones out there (not counting the asians) who can compete with Blizz. Their Lineages weren't exactly unpopular that I can recall. So if you're bored of constant WoW half-broken patches and constant expansions, you'd better try Aion. I probably will once I get a PC that will be able to handle the graphics.

this one allows u to pay for only the time u play. so say u buy a month (30 days) of gameplay and the first day u play 2 hours. and then u dont play for the rest of ur time. u would still have 29 days and 22 hours left by day 30. if that makes sense. so u basically pay only when u play
