when you melt the gold say you have 24 k .999 gold when you melt it does anything burn away leaving you with less weight obviously impurities will burn away but i mean like will the gold be reduced?
@skrotomsak4 golds boiling temperature is higher then its melting temperature, now unless youre going to get it to a 2856degrees celsius. you wont have to worry about boiling off gold. and pure gold (24k) is not good to use for jewellery due to its softness
sulphuric acid diluted 7 parts with water... dont pour the water onto the acid first.. it will explode.. it will crack off but could damage your rollers and it will embed into the gold
I'm going to be starting metalworking soon and have been doing a lot of research when I came across your video here. I'm just wondering...what is the white foam that is being sprayed/dusted onto the metal as your'e melting it?

Do you ever separate out the impurities/non-gold metals? If so, how?
aieeejo 1 year ago
@aieeejo unless you use 24ct gold there will always be other metals in the gold, any impurities are burnt away in the melt down.

@atlantisak Borax powder, its flux to make the metal melt together smoothly. I only know precious metals need flux other types of metals might not?
