  • LoL...top of the line graphics.

Maybe not the best...but who cares when the game kicks that much XXX

BTW: Your point two was just destroyed !!!

  • MW2 games used the dual format thing. The music is all regular tracks. Can be played in and CD player. So, if you don't have your little CD cable for audio plugged into your sound card. You get no music, The trouble with all this is now that we have sound cards built into the mobo, you might not even have this connector anymore.

Hmm, time to pull out my SB Live! haha

  • MW2, MW3, AoE1 and AoE2 were my favorite games when I was around 6-10 years old I loved PC gaming consoles could not even think about how awesome PC games were. Now I play games like BF3 and BF2. Sometimes MW4.

  • Computer: External camera engage. Group fire engage....

  • Ahhhhh...MechWarrior.I have missed this music and game so much. I wish I could find somewhere to download this for Windows 7 so I could play all day.

  • I hated the fucking trials.

Why pit me against insurmountable odds when I could be sent into combat against ACTUAL FUCKING ENEMIES?

    assholes...

  • @inuyashaspet

Be promoted or die. That is the clan way.

  • So this game is the reason i started popping pills and listening to trance music !!!

  • Pretty much the only game music I'd listen to when not playing.

  • this brings up memories

  • this really takes me back

  • if yall still have your original game cd try throwin it in a cd player and see what happens

  • Nice Work! I love the composers percussion in "Iron Piston" so much!

  • Thank you so much for this!!!!!

  • Awesome soundtrack!

I still got the game CD with them all on!

  • Brato86 is correct. Pentium 1 and Pentium 2 computers had an extra 4 pin cable between the CD-ROM drive and sound card. It bypassed the whole motherboard and CPU.

The connectors were quite small, a bit smaller than 3.5" floppy drive power connectors.

Thanks for the memories Brato86, when my Pentium 2 couldn't smoothly playback an MP3 file off of the hard-drive while running any game which could be considered modern at the time.

@5PYZ3R: you must be too young or dont remember thats all.

  • old games are mostly better than new ones cuz back in the days it wasn't all about graphics only!

    gameplay > graphics

only blizzard knows that still today.. thats why diablo3 will have outdated graphics when its coming out .. same as diablo2 did

  • Indeed. Gameplay is always more important than graphics and eye-candy. Great graphics are nice, but if a game just doesn't play well it's just not going to be popular.

  • uh what are you, retarded? blizzard makes most of it's money off of WOW, and that doesn't exactly have amazing "gameplay".

sure it isn't about graphics, but pretending that Bioware(or a few other companies) aren't still making amazing games(they are, and have been for like a decade, baldur's gate 2 anyone? planescape torment? mass effect 2?)

is just stupid, Blizzard may make the most dough but it hardly makes them the top gaming company in terms of quality and enjoyment.

  • Gotta remember those old games are better than most of the news we see now a days, cause most of the ideas keep expanding from them....HOOAH!!!!

  • yeah arkham bridge is an awesome song to play over ANY video game.

I laughed so hard when they actually used that first one, Iron Piston, in the Naruto anime. I felt all special for even remembering this game lol.

(The song is somewhere in Shippuuden, infiltrating Orochimaru's base is when they play it, slightly modified with some japanese string instrument.)

  • *sigh* Track number 3, even after so long still sends tingles down my spine. It was so suspenseful with that playing, fighting off wave after wave of enemy Mechs emerging from a snowstorm

  • @Phsionix Good times, eh?

  • Thanks, this brings back fond memories.

  • Lol you guys are so funny with your debugging comments for the music system.

Like how the drive with the higher letter is assumed to be a different type of drive. Rofl, that's hilarious.

The soundcard also doesn't affect the actual game, as long as your soundcard works with the rest of your computer.

The game is accessing the sound just as YouTube or WMP is.

Just typical C# code I would assume. Nothing out of the ordinary. Games are just high-powered programs.

  • some older games use cd tracks ....like cd music ...the cdrom reads it directly to the soundcard via a cable to minimize cpu load....newer pc's dont have the cable connected from the cdrom player to the soundcard

  • @5PYZ3R wtf are you talking about brody-bro

    joo not makin nee cents

  • What? Golden spade and pyre light didn't make the list? Those are my other two favorites besides wolf trial.

  • man rogue chariot was hard......

  • Wow. Iron piston (track 1) has that industrial song, and that makes it amazing in my book.

  • for some reason my computer version of mech warrior 2 dosent have any music. even though the options say it does and the music bar is at max volume. i dont know what to do.

  • same with me. My orginial mech2 that came in a box had the music but it broke so i went and got the game that just comes in a joule case without the box and it didnt have music on it.

  • From what I understand, MechWarrior 2/Mercenaries handle music in a format a lot of OSes from the late '90s onward don't support. The MW2 CD is actually partitioned into two, one of which holds the game data and one of which holds the music. It's this latter partition that the computer has trouble reading.

Some other games of the era have the same problem, such as Total Annihilation, which is also a bummer because that's another great classic game with an excellent soundtrack.

  • @AndyWatchVideo You can always download the soundtrack and play the appropriate tracks at hte ppropriate times.

  • There are some issues with computers with multiple optical drives; the game will always recognize the higher lettered drive as the music CD. Try that

  • sound card has to be a sound blaster i do beleive.

  • @insanehl thats right bud it did not have support for any other brand back then. talk about a monopoly.

  • You may have the Softkey/AOL edition of Mechwarrior 2. It comes with the entire game except for the music. The best way to get music is to make a mixed CD of the tracks... good luck getting the music.

  • wow, thats exactly the version i have... so there's no way to get ingame music?

  • do u have the cd inserted? i think it reads the music lke normal cd tracks....and i think you need a analog cable from your cd player to the soundcard drectly or you need to check the option for digital transferso your cd player will transfer the musc from the cd through your cpu and then to the soundcard.....its more cpu intensive

  • @qmto Try playing with the game disk in. if not, I don't know how to fix it; download the soundtrack somewhere and play it while you play :P

  • @qmto That's because the music is stored as CD audio tracks. Some systems require there to be a special cable between your computer's CD drive and the soundcard, if the cable isn't present you can't hear CD audio.

  • @W3bbo2 actually, i found out the reason was because the AOL edition of this game has no in game music. the menu has music, but as soon as you start a mission, there's no music. the sound effects are there though.

  • Best music! But the wolf trial (my favorite) doesn't include the beginning which is IMO the best part.

  • feeling so nostalgic, awesome video game. Love it so much...

  • this game was so awesome... why microsoft... WHY????? oh well, two new mechwarrior games are coming our way, so i am very excited about next year, oh, final fantasy 13 and many other games are coming for consoles, SCREW THEM, mechwarriors is all we need here, YEAH!

  • Couldn't be more right.

  • nice, i got a supporter. well i mean, obviusly, i may try to buy a console... but... i mean, mechwarriors with stable multiplayer kinda beats everyone and everything else lol.

  • I've noticed that with your version of music that the songs cut off about 10-15 seconds of the beginning of the song and will sometimes fade out at the end before it actually should end such as Wolf Trial.

  • I remember this game so much i wont to play it now i recon its better then number 4

  • damn i miss this game remember Chocha Virus character hahahah funny name

  • good old times.

  • If anything brings back memories of playing this game, it was Arkham Bridge. Duuuude, that song is soooo epic...

  • @Aramendil on the track for this... I was like four, and watching my dad play the mission with Arkham Bridge, I always called it the Timber Wolf's theme =P

  • @Sporefan105 Cool. Thanks for sharing.

  • Good choice for your top 5.

  • God, I loved playing this game. And when I was done I'd just pop the CD into my stereo system.

  • How do u make Mw2 games play on XP and Vista and all that? I can get the game installed but it wont play

  • download Dosbox

  • You have to download a certain solftware mate.

  • You could also try setting their compatibility mode to Windows 95, if you're not using the Dos edition.

  • Awesome thanks for the download :)

  • iron piston kicks ass

  • i still have this game, and i still play it, only i have vista

  • I love Iron Piston, that one brings back the memories.

  • Alternate names for the tracks are: Startup, PPC People, Landing Complete, Watch Your Back!, Taking The Fight To Them. There is a third set of names for these tracks but I cannot find them. All I know is that Arkham Bridge is also called Locust Battle on the third list. I'll tell you when I find the third list.

  • you wouldnt happen to know where these names came from would you?

  • There are many different versions of MW2 and on my disc that's what they're called when I play them on windows media player.

  • Do you have the Dos or Titanium version, or one of the others?

  • Titanium for pc.

  • Cool, I have the DOS version which, at times, can give my Vista laptop problems, but overall I like this version best because it was the original.

  • the levels in which they were on.

  • Thx soo much dude..

thx to the the link u gave(is it ure very own website?), i successfully managed to download all the songs frm MW2..

the songs bring back a part of my childhood like no other song can..

    i owe u soo much..

    with unbounded gratitude,

    a friend

  • yes the entire operation (including website) is mine. you are welcome!

  • another good one andy

  • Thank you so much for the link. The Mechwarrior 2 soundtrack is one of, if not THE, best game soundtrack I have ever heard.
