  • YOU SUCK!!!

  • Sounds great even at low volumes and that's through a Marshall cab...Imagine a Mesa or ENGL cab, it would sound nothing short of awesome...I have the Savage and thinking of buying the new PB II.

  • who needs engl, when you can have marshall????

  • what is the differences between Randall and Engl

  • boosting amps like powerball, 6505, dual recto, triamp is just like fighting this bieber cult. Needless and/or pointless. Nuff said, if you can't set up your sound on such amp you suck at guitar or you just can't. This amp shows its best on higher volume but anyway cool review mate. Abbath from immortal uses this one, I would like to hear someone playing solarfall on this beast (:

  • Amazing tone there. I received my Engl Fireball 60w and according to what I've heard it's basically less processed than the Powerball (due to a more straight up german circuitry). Of course you can dial just about anything on the Powerball with the insane amount of features you have there so it's all about taste. Thumbs up for the videos either way.

    PS: Are you from UG?!

  • @leon787 Yes from UG and SS.org. I wish the camera mic was better than what it is!

  • @Venzetti6 Hey dude I was thinking to get an engl head soon so out of all the ENGL's which is the best for Extreme bone crushing distortion And djent while still having nice punk rock classic rock tones and a good clean

  • If you don't a "super processed" engl get the new fireball 100w its basically on par with 5150 but with the engl balls!

  • sounds good

  • what kind of speakers do you have?

  • The thing with tube amps is u have to crank them up to get the full effect

  • @CrushedJustice i second like.. doesn't do this amp any justice.

  • @maximusarcher have you played the powerball yet? If not. Do it and you'll understand.

If you have.. my factor was the pure versatility.. and how well it did everything I wanted. The mark V is awesome! But I felt as if the pb was much more suited to my desires. Pure power.. no need for anything in front of it.. and can switch to the best clean I've ever heard in a fly.

  • I'm in a similar predicament...I had my heart set on a Mark V head, but now i'm looking into the Powerball a bit, and it's really tempting. What was the deciding factor for you between the Mark V and the Powerball?

  • @djbkrabi a 2 channel is pretty nice. Like I said, they have more of an organic feel.. I love that about mesa. Engl is super processed.. but I like that feel sometimes too. Good for that common djent stuff going around lately. Its all about what the player is looking for.. some want a studio magic processed amp like this. Other wants a warmer more articulate feel like the mesa.. others love the raw buzz saw of 6505/5150.. all do the same job in different ways.

  • @grrrantcore once again my friend, like previously stated. Show me your video of "extreme" playing capabilities. On the contrary to what you may think, not once did I boast on my playing ability.. nor do I indicate any sense of arrogance... but! If you think so.. that's cool :p.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Its just the fact that yours doesn't matter because all you do is troll. Bahaha.

  • @Venzetti6 haha yep.... totally... and from a purely "objective" standpoint you said you do not need anything in front of it.... lol if you knew your amps... well if it costs 2000 it should be making you dinner aswell any semi decent amp does not need anything in front of it...

and no not quite xD I don't troll ... I also don't post videos of myself playing that unclear .... any douche can play in drop a? drop b? look up killerbuckeye.... hahah that's clarity and for much less money

  • @GrrrANTcore "any semi decent amp does not need anything in front of it..." what a bullshit statement...Just as an example Adam D from Killswitch engage has been known to use some of the best amp heads around...boogies, h&k triamps, splawns, peaveys etc. And he swears by (or at least use to) a maxon od808. maybe he uses the od9pro+ now considereing he helped develop it (sort of) but yeah, getting back to my point, having an overdrive pedal in front of your amp can really tighten things up! :D

  • @justenbeashel Sir, You did not understand what i meant, "it does not need anything in front of it" this however does, it is murky, unclear and way to mid range... it sounds like a bucket of springs. a great guitar player can make any gear sound good, but if you cant make an amp like this sound good, either it is horrific or the guitarist is in question. I myself have a H&K Warp X... not the greatest amp in the world but its pretty darn clear.... :) and thats what I meant, I can tighten up

  • @justenbeashel but i don't really need to because the amp can handle things itself if you get me? :)

p.s adam d is nothing short of a god!

thank you for actually bringing something logical for an argument, most people would whine and bitch telling me I am wrong without so much as an example.

either way my point is merely my opinion and I think this guy has no clue and does no justice to metal. untill his production is as good as that Killerbuckeye guy.... I will think he is a noob

  • @GrrrANTcore well said bro, valid points all 'round :D

  • i need this amp.

  • @grrrantcore you are absolutely right! That's why I keep my red squire strat with 5 strings on it and play through my crate omegacardboard 57 watt solid state!

I wish I knew how to play an instrument even bass! Thanks for the quick jump of a gun! Show me a video of extreme guitar playing please oh pleasseeeee :D

  • @Venzetti6 this... extreme hahaha don't kid yourself emo boy... your really not as good as you think you are... this is as murky as liquid shit...

  • lol........ yuck man how can you sit next to that... baahahahah ive heard nicer sounding ... welll everything... and IF YOU WANT LOW END... learn to play bass... and not what you think bass is.... actually learn how to play instead of playing the root notes of what the guitat plays...

i mean the berhinger v-amp has a nicer dirty channel then this and that amp costs like 300 dollars bahhaha

  • @GrrrANTcore how are u using behringer and engl in the same sentence. their unrelated. Behringer is shit and engl is amazing

  • @lectwar if you like an amp that sounds like a reverberating fart.... then yeah engl is amazing....

  • Powerball 2 right??

  • yeah \m/

  • agreed, that kicks Mesa's ass

  • i live your video

  • That's Gene Simmons son !!! Yeah, Nick. That's him !!

  • Please, dude. Not better than a 2 channel Dual Rec.

  • how does this amp compare to the invader 100 and the savage 120???

  • invader is far better in tone an cutting the mix, savage also but IMO Invader has a better tone than the savage . more like an open sound compared to the powerball which is very scooped and compressed

  • Just got mine today. WICKED amp!

That camera mic does NOT do this thing justice.

If you dont have one, sell your house and buy one. You wont regret it! (Okay, that may be alittle extreme, but seriously, its that good! :D)

  • jesus christ i need all that gain. i'ma gonna get that amp

  • Pure 7 string goodness my friends.

Fuck I miss that guitar.. and Amp hahaha.

  • what amp are ya playing now? :)

  • @Venzetti6 hahahha wow what happened did you sell them?!

  • sounds like a dying cow

  • isn't it great ;)

  • hmm depends... I tried laney vh100r which sounded very similiar (loose sound) and atm im rocking with kustom double cross. Man the tight imput does rly good job.

  • ill be gettin the engl Special Edition EL34 head in about a week, these amps are brutal!!

    "Its so goddamn electric!"

  • They are the 2 things I am dying to get the ENGL and Agile 7 string amazing equipment

  • id like to know why on earth you guys are complaining about drop tuning guitars saying that you shouldn't be going more than a whole step down and what not, a note is a note. that is like saying that a certain key signature is superior to another lol.

  • gah... i hate when people down tune a perfectly good instrument. No guitar should go lower than one step down, after that it just becomes mush like this.

  • Well I tune to C# and it sounds fine. Not mushy, perfect.

  • Yeah. The "mushiness" of the sound really lies in your EQ. As long as the note can be played from a guitar, it can be dialed in to sound tight (at least... on middle to high quality amps.)

Or you can use an OD pedal or an outside EQ.

  • Agreed.

  • @aligatorsandwitch72 i play my ibanez in dropped B, through EMGs and a marshall modefour and it sounds fine

it only sounds crap if you dont know what your doing or you judge it through a youtube vid.

  • I was all about engl for a minute.. till I heard this FJA Modded Peavey 5150.. for those out there that are broke like me.. check it out.. the vid is 2:42 and the amp has blue led's.. that amp sounds sick.. engl's are good too but jesus they are like 2-3 grand

  • A little hint. The entire ENGL line sounds better with pretty much ANY cab other than Marshalls.

  • This is a nice amp, but I can't pay $2000 for an amp head (it's gonna lead to over $3000 for a full stack, over what I can afford) and I was wondering if I can find it somewhere else at a much cheaper price ($1500-1600 max)

    inb4 eBay, etc.

  • Ebay has one right now for $1399.

But the guy says he only sells in US. Hope you're in US. One of these days to I do plan to drop some good money on a Special Edition. That or try for a major endorsement. Though I don't think I can do that yet...Can't just buy a SE ENGL..it's like...$5000 MSRP

  • Note: inb4 eBay. That means I can't do eBay unless it's a "Buy Now" price.

  • hey guys i'm about to buy one of these

but i have one little question about low tuning.

i play 8 strings, i'd like to know how it sounds that low. it would be great if somebody already has experience with that thing and low tuning

    thanks

  • I tuned my low 6 down to a g and it sounded great.

If you are using an actual 8 string it should sound even better. Just remember, the lower you tune the less gain you want. It helps to improve the clarity.

  • FAIL! lollol that was good man haha good review

  • Good vid

  • Oops sry i pressed 1 star instead of 5!

  • Awesome!
