  • Exceptional bassist, he is playing respecting the original arrangements with an exceptional fee of virtuosism and good taste.

  • Does anyone know the version of this song where it has a (grand/traditional) style piano intro its one of the extended or 7inch or something version?

  • HOW DOES SOMEONE DISLIKE THIS!!!!???

  • @whooyeeh123 Me because its an utter disgrace to the original..

  • Man hes using a fender and Aguilar setup. They must be compressing the heck out the bass in his sound. It sounds so middy with no thick lows that I KNOW that rig can bring. I think thats part of the issue of the full sound.

  • jazz cafe strange place, i was jumped (attacked) on stage at a jam session many years ago there ,,

guess youre right about the rig set up including the outboard overal mix ,, thats what happens to bands after many years of getting work ,especaly on television the limiter and compression levels are different ,

discovering ,,you tube,, finding out i can play bass was great benefit for me ,, now jam without musicans resorting to the things they ended up doing to me at the jazz cafe

  • 7 people are fags that listen to justine beiber

  • Is it me, or does this smooth version sound like a new song?

  • no , jay , no one is out , because they dont see what you see . theyre too fucking blinde , they wont even give this masterpiece with a true message the time of day , he said once in an interview , people are stupid , they never learn , its true and he speak the truth

  • you can see he's struggling here. That's understandable i guess because this song is SO HARD to sing and at that time his vocals wasn't exactly at its best.

  • MY GOOOOOOOD HOW I LOOOOOVEEEE JAMIROQUAIIII !!!

  • Love this group and song.

  • Niesamowity zespół!!!

  • 0:38 Wheres the horns?

  • Of course, but I would of loved to hear how he'd sound at this age if he hadn't smoked cigarettes all these years.

  • i hate those back up singers! lose them and bring back the strings and horns!

  • I saw them with a cast on my leg at the House of Blues in L.A. about 10 years ago... Still got up and danced. One of the greatest English Exports Ever. Jay Kay rocks!

  • Watch the version of Travelling without moving, and also canned heat performed at this gig at the jazz cafe! They are both amazing! :)

  • In one word: Amazing !

  • this performance is electrifying. what a great band!

  • Matt Johnson can never live up to the same quality as Toby Smith.

  • @ShadowRave So hard on Matthew...so hard...

  • Maybe so but its the truth, just compare Toby's playing to Matt's. This version is pathetic imo.

  • The Break is soooo FunkY

  • JK is dandy...

  • gooooooooood!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • just to add my two cents...he was nursing a cold at the time of this show. instead of canceling, he persevered. can't knock a bloke for that.

  • check out stuart zender the original bassist who rote that bassline, hes so much better...

  • Absolutely,a very different feel, much rawer ,more funky ,with a lot more bottom

  • i wish people would shut up about his voice-it's getting better now in 2009/8 also this version is quite good. HE CAN SING VERY WELL!-rock in rio 2008!

  • You see kiddies.........This is what happens when you smoke ALOT of grass and snort at Shit load of coke.... The reason why jay kay can't sing those classics is because he did alot of durgs when he was young.....and he is like 40

  • ive seen others comment on how this version of Jamiroquai is like a cover of their former selves, I disagree...I think these guys are the better musicians..granted they did not write this song...

  • great performance-i admit his voice is very slightly weaker than it used to be but as he's nearly 40 and the original is from 1992, he did amazingly well.

  • Paul Turner

  • that is great motherfuckers!

  • awesome, highly underated. don't understand why he went techno.

  • You folks in the UK should be proud of this band! I'm from North America and these guys have always been a step up, kickin the crap out grooves and melodies! Jamiroquai... one of UK's all time greats

  • fo sho dude im so mad that i don't live in the UK he came like once to U.S. like recently in 05 to promote dynamite and that was it i want an American tour soon JAY KAY WHERE IS IT WE NEED IT

  • 13 years older from the original. I think he did a great job

  • wasn't it 1992?

  • No your thinking of "When you gonna learn" which was released as a single on Acid Jazz Records around June 1992. All the others were released in 1993 on the album.

  • Now, he gets tired easily, you can hear how he breathes. Before it was not difficult for jay kay to breath and sing at the same time, but the time goes on, it is normal to get older. Whatever, he still sounds cool. Jamiroquai is and will be forever one of the best bands in the music history

  • @soccarina - Jay's finding it more difficult to breathe as time goes on.... yes.... and that's due to 20yrs+ of chain smoking!! awesome band though. I met derrick and sola a few years ago!

  • woow, you met Derrick Mckenzie!! you are so lucky!!! i guess they are nice, whatever, i wished they came more often to México so i could get to listen to them in live before they disappear or whatever, ushh im such a big fannn and i haven't heard any new about them

  • @soccarina he should move away from the mic to breathe in

  • @soccarina the joints have taken there toll :-)

  • i just bought the exact same hat jay has in this preformance ps very good preformance sounds so good even now!

  • man what a voice

    what a band ^^

  • Yeah, you're right. I do enjoy them. A lot. I can't complain, I mean, they are still making music, right?

  • Hell, if they got any of their former members back (at least realistically), they should so get Toby Smith back. Oh and another thing, I think if Jay Kay just shaved that goatee off, he'd probably look younger... But you have to give it to him, he looks way better than most men his age. At least he has his hair and he's not fat. lol

  • You're wrong, Jay looks great. Sure he looks older, well, he is older. As for his style, why should he become stagnent in his style? It's evolved, just as he and we all do. Also, I think his voice is still great.

  • It was my favourite band for a long time but for me there are only 3 albums, after Stuart left the band lost his soul. Have you heard for example "Midnight Funk"? in my opinion that was the last piece of Jamiroquai from the past. Jay looks so wasted and old because of cocaine and he lost his voice and his style. Now the lyrics are so empty and stupid, "cars women and spending money"

I agree with cyberpsych1 when he hais that Jamiroquai sounds like a cover band of itself :(

  • I'm willing to bet Jay Kay heard everyone complaining and went out and got another horn section to bring back "some" of the old sound. Honestly, the "dynamite" album was shit in my opinion. The current "Jamiroquai" sounds like a cover band of itself :( This new album without Sony's thumb up their ass has a chance to redeem the Jamiroquai legacy. The only thing missing from this new project is Zender, Smith, Dodd or Katz! Jay Kay: don't fuck this new beginning up! Bring the funk back!!!!

  • the snerd is amazing

  • Not bad, but of course SZ is the best and his Iroquai Rug bass (Warwick Streamer Stage II) i miss that sound. I think this fender-sound is not fitting to jamiroquai.

  • Couldn't agree more. The fender makes them almost sound like a cover band of the "real" Jamiroquai.

  • listen to this with attention, jamiroquai has changed but doesn't mean that they'r worst now, it's EVOLUTION mate,

    Rob harris rulez

Paul it's wicked at this song

    Derrick / sola still perfect

    Jay got the moves

    matt johnson GOT FEELING,

  • Well put, mate.

  • Well said! Many people bitch about how Jamiroquai sounds now, and how it might have turned out if former members remained, but it doesn't matter.

Sure, I do miss the old music and old members, like Toby, Stuart and Simon, and to be honest, I didn't like Dynamite much either...

....but now the band have got a proper bassist again and are recording a new album that is said is gonna go back to their roots....bring it on, I say!

  • Hate fucking midi keyboards, where the real moogs go?

  • It was the sounds of

    saxophone and trumpets.

  • désolée

    je me suis trompée.

c'est toujours le son de 'midi keyboard'.

  • Here, here! I miss Toby's memorymoog...

  • exactly. the alesis andromeda is a sick keyboard for electronic music but 'the jamiroquai sound' requires the use of REAL MOOGs

(mini, memory) and ARP's etc. vintage equipment. so tired of hearing some cheese sounds like on soul education at montreux (string patch) and the lead synth on space cowboy..dial it up for real on the legit synth and put some effects pedals on it, like toby did.

  • Yes, Stu did know how to play and well, still does. This guy isn't THAT bad. Granted, he isn't the best, but he must be doing something right if JK wanted him in the band in the first place.

  • This b-line its only for Zender. He know how to funk it up in milion way and milion times better than the rocky Paul

  • Talk to them***Talk to us ***Talk***

  • They need to come to Phoenix again... That would be most bitchin'.

  • f'ckin kay come to chile!

  • i think is the best version i have seen on this song..

  • you have got to be kidding there's tuns of better versions phoenix japan milan jesus there's loads!!!

  • how do you know (s)he has "seen" those ones at the time?

  • eeeeeeeh!!!! pero que latigazos que pega Derrick! qué maquina!!! :)

    listen how derrick hits!!!! yeah!

  • yes the master Mckenzie!!!

  • esta cancion es del carajo de puta madre uff excelente es ya un clasiiiico esta cancion lo maxiiimo uff sin palabras

  • he's very good but sometimes his style doesn't lend itself to the zender lines.

  • That is fair enough to say. Paul Turner's style is different to Stu's. But Paul Turner is still an amazing bassist! Very punchy!!

  • he is much better in improvising then zender, and he plays Jazz Bass :)

  • Jamiroquai is still god live but...They dont have the vibe, ya know?

  • One of the greatest JMQ songs.AWESOME.And Zender, they need him back.Immediately

  • Whatever is great version of EOPE, I love it!

  • En este grandioso tema el coro está demás

In this wonderful track the chorus is out of tune

  • its an ok version but i think the version at pheonix is much better because stu zender is playing and the tune is better and has more funk!

  • Watch the full concert @ jamirodreams,de !!!

  • Cheers for this live version of EOPE, my third favourite live version of this(1st phoenix, 2nd club citta).
