  • Nice work. What kind of tom/snarepads do you use?

I had a SDS-1000 complete set. Sold them but an ichting feeling seeing all these old SImmons drums. Wanna have one soon.

  • @nielswil As I say in the title of the video: "DIY" = "Do-it-yourself". Self made.

  • @simmonsmuseum

One question, does roland PD7 pad (dual zone) triger snare and rim and does dual zone ride cymbal triger bow and bell or bell and edge, end how can I change it?

  • @knjecenje that depends on the particular pad. A two zone cymbal pad which you want to use as a ride should of course support bow and bell

  • Hi...would love to know how you converted these to mesh! They sound great!

  • Nice vid man.

  • Hello,

Thank for this new video....very good music and very good playing...

What trig to midi interface did you use with your modified SDS5 pads???

I wonder how this style of music will sound with analog drum sound of the SDS5/SDS8,Techstar drum module...

Have a nice weekend Thierry EPPHERRE from France

  • Hi Thierry,

I simply used an Alesis I/O which is definetely one of the cheapest midi interfaces but in my environment it work's perfect

    Best regards

    Wolfgang

  • Are the sounds used in this video from a software vst? In this case, have you used an external sound card or what to reduce latency? Thanks a lot for your videos, i hope there will be a lot more!

  • I have a Mackie Onyx 1640 firewire connected to my Mac Pro. What is latency? ;-)

  • The drums are coming from Toontrack Superior 2, the library is Toontrack ETX nashville

  • I can't wrap my mind around country music coming from the Hex. ;-)

  • vice versa W.S. Holland, drummer of Johnny Cash was pretty confused when I asked him for an autograph on an Simmons SDS9 pad in the early 80s ;-)

At least the more pop oriented country artists such as Dolly Parton also used Simmons drums (well, the sounds in my video are definetely far away from Simmons...)
