I really think the reason the eighties were great is that is was the last generation of musicians who didn't grow up in the MTV / computer age. I think that stuff really sapped away something. Although there was great music, more and more kids were spending their time in front of tv or video games or computers. I think this time used to be spent doing other things... 80s kids made 90s music. the 90s kids made the 00s music. Every generation spending more time in front of screens... ;)
