  • It sounds like something from the army

  • I have so many problems with this video hahaha. 1. why would you play scheherezade with drumset sticks ? 2. why would you play with a sloppy rudimental/drumset technique for a traditional orchestral snare "excerpt" ? 3. i can see timpani in the background of this video... why in GODS NAME would you play your timp excerpt on a drumset with drumset sticks ?? that's ridiculously retarded

  • firstly, i will not reply to your other comment, because i don't waste my life being rude to other people. Secondly, not everyone has top of the range snare drum and equipment. Thirdly, i have had enough of being polite to these rude comments and i'm not taking this shit from anybody especially some fucking wanker who calls himself a 'rude boy'. I hope you die of your fucking drug overdose.

  • Dear Mr RudeBoyPete (may I call you 'Rude' for short? Seems appropriate...),

I read your comment with much dismay. Surely the choice of sticks should be made based on the preference of the player, and, should they choose to use tree trunks, or twigs, for that matter, it should be whatever feels comfortable and produces the required sound from the drum (which cannot be captured on a camera anyway, and would be significantly spoilt by YouTube compression). Please continue on the next comment...

  • Furthermore (or as you so eloquently put, '2.'), as long as a 'sloppy drumset technique' produces the right sound, the mechanics are of little importance.

Also, if you have ANY concept of a proper orchestral snare technique, why do you think the Sheherazade SNARE DRUM PART should be played on timpani? A quick click on your profile shows no tutoring videos on how to play properly, perhaps you should place your focus there, rather than slagging off others...

Thank you very much for your time.

  • oh no- sorry- this isn't that. this is an extract from scheherezade which was the suggested piece for the other video

  • no offence taken. this is the break drum part (i don't have break drums) from the PDF percussion part i got off the website for the Tan Dun piece.

  • im not trying to be rude or anything but wat are you playing?? is that the music from the pdf guide or what??

no rudeness intended its just that i thought it was diffrent

  • wow! great control and dynamics

  • why do people make harsh comments. i just don't see how that is at all encouraging. And for your information minsk200, i have listened to Scheherezade more times than you've had hot dinners and i apologize that my snare drum is not up to your all important standards!

  • You should try listening to how the 4th movement actually goes and perhaps play on a drum worth more than 10 cents.

  • nice rolls. they're clean. way better than mine that's for sure. good job.

  • look...i'm just playing what they said we had to do in the audition. As far as i'm concerned. you can bugger off. i never asked for your opinion.
