@iliveon most honest philosophers are likely to be atheists since an honest philosopher would never 'conveniently' narrow an syllogism to serve his religious agenda (i.e. William lane craig).
"everything has to be created.. but 'God' is the exception!", "Nothing is eternal! .. but 'God' is", "Something can not come from nothing!.. but 'God' 'created' everything from nothing!"
During the Holocaust of the Jews, no other Church did as much as the Pope in Rome, The Pope, it was reported in Jerusalem Post last August of 2010, that Pope ordered every Catholic Bishop in the entire world to make up false baptism papers for German Jews, and by this the Pope saved 200,000 Jews from the death camps. Then Hitler blackmailed Pope Pius XII by killing 50,000 Danish Catholics for defying the Nazis and shielding the Jews, so the Pope went underground, with the French Underground
@CarmineFragione but are you going to admit to the failure of your Stalin atheist strawman or not? All you do is cite his reign as the epitome example of atheistic regimes and then say all atheists are like Stalin (if they would ever come to power).
It's ignorant, insane, and insulting, biased, disgusting and simply false. We are more moral without theism. Japan and Sweden prove this every single day, yet you do not cite their secular governments. But they don't fit within your narrative.
@CarmineFragione and if this entire defence of the Pope of yours is a lead-up to a claim that Hitler was an atheist then you are flat out false or lying.
Atheists are merely transitioning from Republics to Soviet Command Societies , where the State collects all totalitarian power of the destiny of the individual and collectivizes all property and means of production to the State, which then falsely claims to represent the People, such as in "People's Republic of China" etc. Atheists have no substance and any meaning in any political history of the world, except as the alternative to a majority view that God gives Natural Rights to Man.
That's a slanted, and elementary view of the KC Argument, and Objective Moral Value Argument. Not very characteristic of a philosopher, in search of truth.
I look forward to the online release of his recent, Cambridge debate, with Bill Craig.
The Atheists always offer themselves as gods to plausibly explain morality. So, they employ themselves in the role of the divinity, to support their tenets, their own sense of morality. It might work for the rulers, but not so well for the ruled. That the elite by virtue of their self acclamation is their own god and if other people do not agree with the State, then the State as the Collective , can play God, saying there is no other God but the State. Atheists never built a civilization.
@CarmineFragione no, unlike you we have no need to shove this concept of god, this idol of worship and dogma, into our lives. We are not gods, we are humans, there is no god. Morality is not about ourselves, it is about each other. Human laws are not there to empower but to equalize, to help: traffic laws aren't there so we can submit to them, they're there to smooth traffic and help us avoid collisions and death. Why don't you get that? No, atheists are not communists. Lame strawman.
@CarmineFragione Atheism is simply the lack of Theism. No atheist represents the whole of atheism because there is no dogma. An atheist represents himself. Your strawman therefore fails and only displays your biased ignorance. It is only the abandonment of biblical values that gave way for the rise of the west. Secular values triumph over bronze age superstitions and barbarism because of a simple fact: we are better without theism. And it is proven everyday in places like Japan and Sweden.
@viridismonasteriense Joseph Stalin differed from your assumptions that Atheist is merely the lack of one thing, it is rather the substitute of one thing for another, The State is given the Supreme Place of ruling over the lives of men , where as with the Catholic Faith God is Sovereign , not the State and thus a man has a justification to resist the State. which Catholic History in Eastern Europe to bring down the Atheist Communist Regimes. George Bernard Shaw is in hell, by the way.
@CarmineFragione can you prove that Stalin thought that? You can't You're asserting bullshit. Stalin was a Stalinist Communist: that's what he substituted religion with: another religion. So Stalin might've had a different opinion about atheism: SO FUCKING WHAT?
He does not represent all atheists. Nor do I. Nor does anyone. Yet you appoint him as the prime atheist example in all your disgusting insulting bias. No such thing as hell. The Catholic Church supported Hitler's theocracy, idiot.
@viridismonasteriense About Hitler, the French Free Press during the Nazi invasion, carried Pope Pius XII on RADIO to all the French , who were mostly Catholic, and the Pope declared Hitler an enemy of God and said the French must resist the Nazis and that many Danish Catholics, 50,000 of them had been arrested and sent to the death camps, for aiding the Jews and protesting the Holocaust. And the Pope told the French he would assist the Underground, The OSS released all these facts
@viridismonasteriense In 1932 the Catholic Pope ordered all German Catholics to vote against Adolf Hitler and 75% of German Catholics did as told, to vote no to Hitler, but Hitler made a deal through Hess and the Reform Jews for aid to Israel in the Transfer Agreement, and then the Jews made the mistake to accept that apology and voted for Hitler In 1942 the American OSS learned the Pope had sent German Catholics in the army, to attempt to kill Hitler and Hitler was planning to kill the Pope
@CarmineFragione Pope Pius XII personally handed Hitler detailed instructions on how the methodical extermination of non-Catholic minorities across all of Europe was to be enacted and how death camps were to be constructed for the sole purpose of their murder. people of Jewish faith and other “heretics” were not only supposed to be shot or killed, they were to be burned alive as to stay consistent with the Roman Catholic Church’s designated penalty for heresy against God.
@CarmineFragione In 1946 he came to the aid of war criminals including Ante Pavelic who was known in Croatia for leading among the most satanic and kill-happy regimes in all of World history. The group went by the name of the Croatian Ustashi. Taking a note from Pavelic, Pius XII established his own mini form of the Ustashi known as the Catholic Ustashi (guess he liked Pavelic’s work?) and the Catholic organization was responsible for the murder of more than 600,000 people, excluding Inquisition
@CarmineFragione "The State is given the Supreme Place of ruling over the lives of men , where as with the Catholic Faith God is Sovereign "
And in what way is that better? Instead of a mortal dictator you have a divine one. Jesus was the early christian movement's Kim Jung Il, the Son and the Father Kim Il Sung ruling in heaven, where the souls go to worship and praise the Dear Leader from dusk till dawn and all criticism is censored, all blasphemy destroyed, all dissent annihilated.
@viridismonasteriense In Deuteronomy 19:15 God says " One witness is not enough to convict a man accused of any crime or offense he may have committed. A matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses. " WHEN The State becomes God, they do not ask for a second witness, the State, as George Bernard Shaw believed, would just eliminate any man who could not "justify his existence" before the State. So a man shall justify his Rights by God, and not just by the State
@CarmineFragione is that the same god that said to stone a man to death for collecting sticks on the sabbath? What a way to defend tyranny.
The Pope never excommunicated Hitler, he celebrated his birthday yearly, the first pact Hitler made in his career was with the Catholic Church. The mayority of all of Hitler's soldiers were christians if not catholics wearing 'gott mitt uns' in their belts. There are many pictures of Hitler shaking hands with representatives of the Church, gladly.
@viridismonasteriense jesus was nuthing but a deluded apocalyptist claiming to be the messiah and the end of the world and managed to convince large people dat he was the messiah,he got his ass pawned by romans and his deluded followers made up a cult after him wich 3 centuries later was adopted by constantine as d state religion, coz constantine believed dat d christian god had helped him win his battle against maxentius, dats d only reason we have this doomsday cult amongst us 2day
To believe that Intelligent life can evolve out of totally random events over time, is to attempt to make a case that the world can exist without a conscious sentient God. But if the very idea of random events rising into order is mathematically false, that the same claim that Intelligent Life can evolve out of randomness is also false. Then it takes a source of Intelligence that exists outside the Creation, outside the Big Bang, to cause the concept to be possible to result in our life
@CarmineFragione Our species. And actually, the probability of peptides forming in our planet's ocean billions of years ago is very likely. I read a very good article on this.
There is no known reason why God cannot exist, since existence itself is the issue in question. Before the Big Bang, there must be a First Cause ,and it is not material, since we know that matter and time each had their beginning in the Big Bang. The only alternative to God is other Universes descending into ours and for that there is absolutely no mathematical or scientific evidence to justify that possibility. So God is the absolute end of all reason that supports why the world is,
@CarmineFragione Cause and effect is for the realm of humans... but sadly, randomness and chances is what the multiverse is... we're not special... get over yourself, there is no god... stop capitalizing god, it makes you look like a moron...
Most atheists will think this is genius, most Christians will think this is awful. Stubbornness rules people more than reason, and the best we can hope for is to accept that and realise we can't change it. Viva oligarchy.
For a Cambridge lecturer of philosophy, this chap is astoundingly ignorant, and it shows! He's clearly either never even heard the words "Epistemology", "Foundationalism", "Philosophy of Time", "Metaethics", or "Alvin Plantinga", or, I suspect, he is very well-acquainted with these subjects and is simply dishonest.
why is it that insightful atheist philosophy videos hardly get any views, yet a "new atheist" video will get tons of views? honestly, I like the 4 horsemen, but they are horrible at making arguments against the existence of God.
@yhkeyui More forceful than this ? This comback was EPIC, he totally demollished Craig's moral argument. Craig answer to it was pathetic! He practicly said latter: "Sinnott-Armstrong thinks we can know moral values exists by intuition; Sinnott-Armstrong is an atheist; Therefore, we can know moral velues exists by intuition.
