  • Not bad. Wee bit stilted and stiff. Need to hit the upbeats a wee bit more. Just needs to be 'let loose' a wee bit more. just my two cents worth :-)

  • Wow!..I have just discovered your uploads and have spent the last hour catching up on all your videos! I have to say that your video's are the best on this site and I really enjoy your playing! I'm just starting out on the chanter and find your uploads really inspiring :) I hope one day that I can play as well as you.

Many thanks again for you brilliant uploads! All the best, yaz :)

  • Sorry..meant David Ross of Rosehall by Archie MacNeill.....

  • Hey Ian...where did you get the music for Donald Ross? I've searched in vain for that tune. Great to see you back!!

  • i think it is in one of Seamus MacNeill's books. Maybe his book one?

  • Nice to have you posting videos again. =]

To be honest Ian is one of the main reason I am as good today as I am. Sounding awesome. =]

  • well i appreciate that very much, i know it has been a long time since i posted anything... it's been almost a year since i posted anything weighty here... thank you for the nice words

  • he inspired me enough to practice again

more than a year ago...and I'm so much better than i was,"stevies first bar" was the tune that caught my ear.....and it led to

a whole universe of kick ass music...

your B-52 set is really good dude...

bravo to you...and 5***** for Ian!

    cheers!

  • How long have you been playing? I'm going to start out very soonand buy my first practice chanter. Do you have any tips for me? How do you get a sound out of the chanter? is it difficult? You are very good

  • i have been playing for 17 years... make sure you buy a practice chanter from a reputable dealer, and maker... i like gibsons, naills, and tru-tones... also you should invest in a long-chanter as opposed to a short one. spend a little money on yourself and buy something of worth which will make it all worthwhile for you to practice = good tone and enjoyable to listen to. don't let your practice time be a dreaded occasion, enjoy it. however, when you start off, practice everything slowly

  • Thank you very much :)

  • Thanks for posting. I really enjoyed that. I have to say, for me, you are the standard-bearer for great sounding pipe music on the chanter. Besides the sheer enjoyment of hearing you play, I hope to one day play as well.

    Cheers,

    Bud

  • thanks, that's nice to hear
