I don't have any preference, japanese are perfect to customize your guitar and have great colors, MIM are more plug 'n play, US have the best wood and electronics.

I'm also thinking of buying a Jazzmaster, but since I'm a lefty, the only option for me would be importing a japanese model. I've heard that the japanese pickups sound rather like strats, is that true?

+ : plug 'n play guitar, the same neck and tremolo than the AVRI, a flatter radius than "vintage like" JM.

- : The wood quality is variable, so you need to try it.

Electronic and pups are better than CIJ ones but it's not exactly the JM sound (perhaps a little too fat)

Chais pas comment j'ai fait, je me suis fait le backtrack puis j'ai joué pendant 10 minutes avec tout ce que j'avais sous le pied et dans le bide...dommage j'ai pas géré le volume avec le micro camera qui sature salement.

C'est bien de la whammy à la fin!
