  • lol mw2 is that bad.. i cant get off world of warcraft =/

  • Oh, my god! I think I'm addicted to Modern Warfare 2

  • My HEALTH teacher told me to do a project on a illness or disease, well, I just found the illness to do the project on:

    Video Game Addiction.

  • which is video games you try to take it away from us and some it makes sad others it pisses off and some don`t notice another reason that people play video games is this is why i play but we play because all are friends that we thought to be friends turned on us and for some it has happen more than once and we get sick and tired of getting stabbed in the back that we turn to a machine to be are friend because a machine can`t turn on you like a human can look bottom line video games are good

  • ok this is going to be along one but never the less here i go the reason that kids play video games so hard sometimes and the reason why the get defensive is because we are getting the thing that we love most taken a way from us and then that makes us angry it like a parent saying ok son i want you to go out side and explore the hole world and let nothing stop you but don`t go past the frount door your saying to the kids do what you love but when we find what we love /go to part 2

  • aww the page u talked about is no longer available

  • video games are addictive because they allow kids to gain control. As long as the kid is doing other stuff as well as video games, then thats cool, but if the kid is only playing video games there is a higher chance they will end up with some difficulty later down the line, i think

  • "Signs of video game addiction are kids resisting rules and limits? Sneaking around? Are those by definition what kids/teenagers do? An utterly unconvincing argument."

again this re-affirms what I think of this organization is an excuse for lazy or no parenting, in my opinion. NIOHF...

  • Continuing from previous post:

It's more than possible to show a large number of signs of addiction without actually being addicted to the point where you could go through withdrawal. This makes it even harder to determine what's really up without extreme action.

This guy isn't bashing games for being addictive but instead trying to help concerned parents out. Two comments thus far suggest that he wants games banned, but he never said anything of the sort! Don't blow it out of proportion.

  • I'll admit, I used to be far more addicted to video games than I am now, doing everything he listed because I pretty much had no interest in anything BUT gaming.

I'm still a HUGE gamer today, but I've balanced that with other things. Honestly, I'd usually rather hang out with friends than play video games, but I have very few opportunities for the former.

Look at that symptoms list, though, and I still have most of those. This brings up the argument of what an addiction really is.

  • LOL @ EPIC EDITOR FAIL

  • Is this a joke? "I'd rather play video games than sports" "I'd rather play video games than watch TV" I'm sorry, I'm apparently a game addict since I don't care for athletics, and I'm not obsessed with TV. I'm lucky if I game 10 hours/week. Having a hobby does not make you an addict. Also, the "physical symptoms" seem to be ripped from a page on aging, not game addiction: Carpal tunnel Sleep disturbances Back, neck aches Headaches Dry eyes Failure to eat regularly Neglect of personal hygiene
  • Signs of video game addiction are kids resisting rules and limits? Sneaking around? Are those by definition what kids/teenagers do? An utterly unconvincing argument.

  • What is wrong with video game enjoyment? You can be addicted to anything; even coffee! Should we ban coffee, idiot?

  • Video games are no more addictive than caffeine. If gamers have their games taken away, it will be awkward for them for a few days, but just like caffeine, it goes away before you know it, and unless you're introduced to it again, there's no long-lasting phycological effects.

So, let's outlaw coffee and mountain dew, as well!

  • look video games and food are not a bad thing video games have helped many people did you know that doctors and people on the police force use video games for training video games are to be a good thing videoegames don't kill people kill

  • Exactly. Also, this guy doesn't seem to realize that he's holding video games to a blatant double standard.

Alcohol, tobacco, and gambling are all just as addictive as video games (gambling is an even bigger double standard, since it's about GAMES), so if he wants to bash video games, it's only fair he bash those things as well.

Until then, he needs to shut up.

  • Nobody likes any kind of restriction in any way, especially kids. I think your method of testing this was a bit flawed?
